first off, unlv was a better team with better talent, period.
but our first offensive series looked like a group of scared high schoolers in a freshman game...underthrown passes, dropped ones. 3 and punt.
d gordon had way too many tackles, 8-10 yards down the field.
play calling was just purely unimaginative - simply look to unlv's offense. i honestly didn't know what they were going to run or throw every single down (i even tried a few jaeger bombs and i still couldn't figure out what they were going to do...)
as for sac, we'd get a little running going, a few first downs, try to throw a pass, run, punt. run run run punt. when we would get the running going, we didn't work off of that success - no play action, no passing ability, no points on the board, nothing. and to tell you the truth, we were d@mn lucky to get the field goal with the wind.
as far as dailey, he's ok, not the next barry sanders. while he got some yards, there were several times where he'd take his sweet time getting to the outside, then when he'd try to turn it upfield, he'd have everyone and their brother coming up to greet him. to me, i won't drool over how many talented backs we have or how many yards they'll gain, i want points on the board. and with unimaginative play calling and not playing off of our limited running success, i don't think we'll see many points, or W's.
but man, it was nice to be drinking beer and watching college football outside!
