Like only Randy Rahe can do it baby. Stall, play to lose. Call a Timeout & the play drawn is a 27'er by Cannon? You can call Rahe a lot of things, a strategist isn't one of them.

Scratching my head over that one too, but already have preexisting scratch marks. Didn't Cannon take another 3, not as deep, right after that? If tossing up 3s is the plan I'd rather take me chances with Senglin at the end of the game. Weber had too many unforced turnovers and it cost them the game. The end-of-game plan certainly didn't help any. So, if I got this right, the only 2 games Joel doesn't have a double-double in are @UVU & @ISU. Nice.

Randy Rahe got out coached big time. Rahe's team was not prepared to play this game. They were just going through the motions in the first half. Came to second half with a little more determination but in the end lost to a team they should have never lost to because: (1) they shot too many three's. ISU coached decided to defense the interior and give them the threes. Randy played into ISU's game plan the whole game. Never did anything to enforce their will on ISU; (2) Randy slowed down the game late. Weber played not to lose when they had an 11 point lead with six minutes to go; and (3) refs missed on two critical calls (both against Weber) in the last 1:05 of the game. Both missed calls led to points by ISU.

I have never called for the firing of Randy. But I do think that he needs to be forced to bring in an assistant with more knowledge to help him change the way he coaches games and to add to his coaching repertoire. It is my hunch that Randy is a control freak and doesn't hire any assistants with real skills or experience. The one guy he had with such left him and I think he may have trouble attracting such a coach because of being a control freak.

Or maybe there is no money to pay an assistant. Maybe it all goes to Randy. If so Randy, give up some of your 400K for a "real" assistant!

People seem to think Weber was the only team out on the court.there are two teams both prepare for the game and both play it.There is a winner and a loser. And it happens in all games.Need to find a way to accept it.

Randy? Is that you?

Really? No I'm not Randy, but I'm tired of coming on this forum and reading all the posts from posers who think they know more about how games are played than the coaches who do it for a living. Sometimes teams lose games they shouldn't, (Duke losing at home to Utah, North Carolina losing at Northern Iowa, Gonzaga losing at home to BYU, heck Montana lost at home to Idaho, who a week earlier lost at home to Southern Utah) It happens. If anyone thought that any team from this conference was going to go through the season unscathed they are bigger fools than I thought. And if any of the internet tough guys on this board think they can do it better, go get an NCAA coaching job and win a conference championship, see how "easy" it really is.

In the meantime I may have to take a break from this fan forum, it's a shell of what it used to be.

I don't always agree with you but I do appreciate what you bring to the forum. You have a calming influence. I like it. And I like what Baller has to add. That's why we post. Tomcat, and all the rest; even you Sac you are a damn annoyance but I miss you when you aren't around. This is where we come to voice our opinions. That's all they are. Yes, there are lots of good ideas and discussion and some poor ones. Stick around and enjoy the ebb and flow. We lost to ISU...we all hate losing to the bungles. But it happens. They love to beat us just like we love to beat them. Games like last night keep the rivalry alive and relevant. I love it!! I love being accosted by belligerent and classless Bengal fans who are good people away from the court. Yes, I can be an ugly and classless fan too and Have been. I was last night by reacting negatively to post games jests and sneers instead of just leaving (at least we beat you in football bengals lol).

It's a fan board!! We are fans! Enjoy the discussion. Oh, by the way Jerry I don't post in my underwear in my parents basement. I'm in a suit posting from Sunday School. Hahaha!!

I don't care about any reasons for a loss at home, away or neutral to a sub 300 rpi team. Rival or not, no excuse for weber to lose these games. For me it's not oh well and move on, maybe if I was an suu or uvu fan though.

We have 2 big sky mvp candidates and one could get drafted. This isn't our 2006 roster. I didn't think we would go 18-0 but I thought something close to it. When your in a conference full of 300 rpi teams you have the right to be mad when you lose to any of them ever.

These type of posts are hilarious, I like all the different opinions. I might scratch my head and think your argument is silly, but interesting to me when fans are A okay losing to Kenpom RPI 315.

Well weberski what do you suggest? Do we fire randy or take half his money or join a different conference. I have watched Weber play since Willie was there, tip in against Gonzaga classic and I have seen everything since, all the ups and downs. There is not one Weber fan that's happy losing but it happens even when it's a rival that's fired up to play in their home gym bad team or not.I still have faith weber will win the conference. Respectfully the annoying one.

Do you really think that after 2 teams step out onto a court that kenpom RP ranking mean anything? Ever hear the phrase "that's why they play the game"? How many people thought that after a 44 point beat down that SUU have us that we would walk into Missoula and win? Guess what we did. Because there are two teams on the playing field and anything can happen after the first whistle. You mistake my argument for not caring about losing, you are dead wrong. I'm mad that Weber lost, Weber losing always makes me unhappy. But unlike many on here I don't come here demanding blood and for people to lose their jobs.

In the end, the team that deserves it the most will win it.

No one has been able to provide a valid reason for us to lose to one of America's worst teams with a 300 rpi. I agree that 2 teams enter a game to play it and someone has to win but it isn't a reason for this loss. Other comparisons of this thread were terrible. Utah is good and has a lottery pick. They aren't 300 rpi.

It's like fbs fans making excuses after losing to a great fcs.

Everything and anything happens, good a answer as there is.nothing we can do about it that's up to the coaches and players.

Ok this is it guys, what exactly do you want. All I'm doing is defending the team, the coach and the school. All I hear is what and who to blame. You can have your damn bitch forum that's all it is anymore.

hi sir tom,

please dont be fed up and mad. i dont think anyone is really looking for an answer or for something to happen with the coaching staff. we are just mad about the isu loss. it was to one of the worst 50 teams in america as well we still can't get over the worst loss in program history back in december...

Tomcat, sports message boards tend to run negative. That's just how they are. I don't think we are any different than other teams' boards. We're passionate about our team. We hate to lose. And we think we see trends where we might do something different and like to offer our insight.

Constant good news really isn't that interesting. And there are always a lot more posts after a loss no matter what board you go to. I get your point though. And the uncertainty of the unknown isn't entirely appealing to me either. But you'll get used to the personalities here and which ones add to your knowledge, and those you can just pass by because all it is is ranting (including my posts especially after a USU loss). But the fans that come here are really solid fans of the Weebs and we love the discussions. And you'll find some posts that are real gems once and awhile where you say to yourself, "I didn't think of that."

With that said, I know Evans. He is a very good defensive coach. I said it in another tread, they bottled up Joel like no team we've played yet. I don't like taking the air out of the ball nursing a lead. But we are hardly the only team that uses that strategy. I hope it was a learning experience for our team and coaches. But ISU played about as well as they can play. They had the crowd urging them on and then hit a memorable shot. It's on to the next game for me...
