Should be a very interesting game this Saturday in Ogden. 2 teams that are playing WAY under their talent levels so far. I don't see either team dominating this game, I just think the team that wins will be the one that somehow makes 1 less mistake than the other team. It is Weber's first home game of the year so I guess they have that going for them.
I will pick Weber at home in a close one. :twocents:

If we don't change our 5 offensive plays we have and turn to page 2 in the playbook I can see another 2 picks and a loss. NK has had plenty of opportunities to prove himself and is 1-9. Who is left at QB?

I haven't seen Weber play this year, but I expect them to win. Our defense did very well against Fresno State, but got zero support from the offense. Our special teams is also pretty questionable.

K-Ham missed some open guys last week, but it's hard to come down on a guy whose best WR was playing basketball for the last 4 years. I don't think we would see much difference in the offensive production if a change was made at QB. And I agree with you about the play calling, it's been awful.

I don't know why, but psychic-SJ Hornet feels like we're going to pull this one out. Then again, psychic-SJH has never successfully predicted anything else...

do not recall a closer loss among all the losses in Ogden then today.

Another good game for the defense fighting all the way until the last minutes of the game

Be great to see a Hornet quarterback emerge who can run the ball and put the ball in the hands of receivers.
And when that does happen receivers got to catch it.

There has certainly been improvements overall l, but in not all phases,
so we will see what happens on the road again.

Stingers Up!!

Couldn't get the feed for some reason, by listened to a good portion. Sounded like the D was solid, our offense needs a redo. Hey, if I have to take a loss, a close loss on the road isn't a bad one to take.

That was not good, Weber gave us every opportunity to win, only time we scored is when we got the ball on the 8. . Defense is better then I have seen in years. Time to think about going in a different direction offensively. I have Peterson the benefit of the doubt last year after having success. They actually look like they are getting worst, I am talking QB specifically.

I agree the defense looks better this year. If we can just develop a offense to go with it we can do some damage in the Big Sky.
Peterson did well when we had Safron, Carter and company which were already on board when he arrived. Last year we were down to our 4th string QB due to injuries so he deserved somewhat of a pass. This year the performance and development of the offense is not there so far, no excuses. Peterson was a QB at Boston College you would think he could develop some QBs, the talent is there. I understand that Peterson applied for the opening at Southern Utah too bad he didn't get it maybe we could have snagged Troy Taylor before he left for Eastern Washington.

See that Idaho State is looking forward to a win against us after blow outs at Colorado and Oregon State. Great pay days for the Bengal program. All predictions have the Horeynuts (that is a new one) going down in the shed.

Good luck Hornets on a week of practice and on the road yet again.

Stingers Up!!

This team is horrible. They are lucky to score any points the last 2 weeks. If it wasn't for 2 muffed punts they would have been shut out twice. Coming into the season I had low expectations, I felt winning 4 games and being competitive would be a good year as our team is young but what I've seen so far is this team will be lucky to win one game this year. What makes it even more frustrating is that the 3 opponents that the Hornets have loss to this year have given up close to 50 points per game against their other opponents and are 0-6 against those opponents which makes me think that our coaches are unprepared with a game plan for each week. I just do not see any improvement from last year...maybe slightly on defense but not much. It is time for a new coaching staff..Just remember there is a reason that Jody Sears is not the coach at Weber anymore

......meanwhile first year MSU HC mops the floor with Western Oregon.

We are three years invested and haven't figured it out.

Giving up 500+yds. overall is not an improved D, neither is 38 to a D2/NAIA.

Angus McClure is the answer.
The right question is the “how”, not the “who”. A nation wide search is the “how” that, if done right, will result in the most qualified “who”. The other important question is the “when”.

Here is Jody Sears coaching record...
Weber State Wildcats (Big Sky Conference) (2012–2013)
2012 Weber State 2–9 2–6 T–11th
2013 Weber State 2–10 1–7 T–11th
Weber State: 4–19 3–13
Sacramento State Hornets (Big Sky Conference) (2014–present)
2014 Sacramento State 7–5 4–4 7th
2015 Sacramento State 2–9 1–7 T–12th
2016 Sacramento State 0–3 0–0
Sacramento State: 9–17 5–11
Total: 13–36

You take away Marshall Sperbeck team from 2014(that team should of easily won 9 games that year)..his head coaching record is only 6-31..wow how does this guy still have a job!!!

I usually don't say much on this site but I read all the comments. I just don't understand what is happening to the team this year. It's almost like the coaches don't want to win the games. We have the talent but they are not being utilized properly. Defense seems to be doing their job but the offense in my opinion is not even in the game. Do the coaches know something we don't know because I'm clueless as to what is happening this year. It was nauseating to watch the game last week. The one game I expected to lose we played great through the third quarter; on defense of course. Does anyone know if Robinson is hurt; he doesn't seem to be playing that much. Now that I think about it, has the Payne brothers been in much either?

We need to turn it around and soon.

You need a Head Coach that has a close relationship with all the High School/JC Football Coaches in Northern California. Angus McClure has this far more than any coach in college football today.

Northern California has become a "hotbed" for college football talent and Sacramento State is not capitalizing on this great opportunity.

This past spring, Angus gave two full rides, to two kids, from American River College. One was a sophomore and the other a freshman. A third AR kid is a walk on at UCLA.

None of these kids were ever contacted by Sac State.

There are kids in the PAC12 right now that will not see a down on a Saturday and want to move down to the Division 1 AA level and make an impact right away... Angus knows who these kids are.

Who do you think sent McLeod Bethel Thompson to Sac State from UCLA?

The program will thrive with Coach Angus, plus it is a great story... 5 year Hornet Alum, who coached at Sac State, Nevada, Nebraska, Buffalo and 10 years at UCLA, comes home to right size the ship.

You need a face to the program.

That is what sells a program to these High School kids.

Angus is that face to the Hornet program.

I do not disagree that Angus McClure would add excitement to this program that is in dire need. But the two questions that come up…

(1) Would he applied for the job?
(2) Can we pay him enough?

I disagree with recruiting local players, looking at the team they have a lot, look at the roster. The defense alone half the players are local. Bottom line need Players need to play better, coaches need to coach better.
