Update on Post Season Tourney Situation

The chances of Sac St getting a new facility are as good as my A's getting a new ballpark in Oakland. Neither are going to happen. The conference dropped the ball in the first place. Why would you admit a school into the conference when you know damn well their basketball facility is totally inadequate? Same goes for PSU. At the very least, they should have conditioned their admittance with an agreement that you have 5 or 10 years to upgrade or you're out. This conference needs to grow a pair.

I'm still saying that everyone is looking for money in all the wrong places. There is a vibrant business community in the greater Sacramento area, tap it. There must also be some foundations that are set up to find ways to build up the community, tap them. I'm sure that someone would like to have a building, such as that, named after them. Heck, you could even auction off pieces of the Hornet's Nest. CSUS just needs to get out of the box a little bit. :wall:

It's Northern California. Only way Sac State gets a new stadium is if it's some multi-million super duper eco-friendly stadium.

Or they could just say they are building a high-speed train and get the taxpayers to pay for it

fudging Jerry Brown...

You are probably closer to the truth then either of us want to admit.....we tried the multi-use center as you suggest olds and it got nowhere also.....I am hoping we win home court advantage and the powers that be have to explain the 30 year lapse in planning for this very situation to occur.....sometimes negative press is the only thing that jars administrators to action....I believe the President of Sac St. can override the student vote and start the process if enough pressure is applied....I know when Katz was hired as head coach he was promised a new facility for basketball....it was one of the reasons he took the job but he has resigned himself to the situation as it is now.....it is tough to recruit but obviously not impossible....he could probably do better with a new facility

I agree that it doesn't make the conference look good but give these Sac fans a little bit of a break. They wait all of these years to contend and then they can't find a suitable place to host. They want to build a new arena but the students don't give a rats A. I like Reno better than a make shift ballroom. That would probably give Northern Colorado the advantage. They play in a similar gym. Of the acquisitions of the last 20 years into the Big Sky, none have had great facilities. North Dakota's are fairly good and SUU's are mediocre at best. But UNC, Sac and Portland State are not good.

The truth is that only 4 or 5 of our arenas are going to look good on ESPN. I think this is a mute point, Sac plays 5 of 7 on the road to finish. Tomorrows game is a must win.
Students passed a vote in 2004, then President Gonzo dropped the ball. IMO this whole situation is 100% on him. That said, he is leaving and we will have a new president next fall. Maybe all this negative press puts an event center atop the incoming president's "to do" list.

That's a lot of "tapping," Olds, "Where did (you) put (your) Viagra?"

Not sure where I put the vitamin V. It's probably in the same place as my Geritol.

Seriously, It's going to take a community with a vision, leadership with desire, and some thinking out of the box for Sac to get its arena built. I was around when all of Utah's arenas were built, and that is what it takes.

Maybe this current situation will get the ball rolling. :yikes:

Hopefully for Sacramento fans...one more thing as to Utah's arena's, didn't it take at least a community philanthropist's (BLESS THEM!) contribution? The names on each would indicate that (at least WSU, BYU, U, USU).

Yes. Little, if any, tax payer money money was used on any of our arenas. Dee, Huntsman, Marriott, etc.

I bet you could find a fan that would pay good money for the section of the floor where Dylan Garrity hit one of the luckiest shots in Big Sky history. Maybe we should buy it and implode it during our next game with Sac for good luck.

Don't think you could afford it.....that spot is reserved for in-area bids only....lol
