Linebackers look like they could add a few pounds, might be a bit difficult trying to tackle Oregon's 5-11 235 pound running backs......

We appear to be lacking at experience at linebacker. Zamora at middle linebacker is outstanding and will be able to hold his own and do the job, the strong side is a little light on experience.

This offensive line should be as good as we've seen in a long time. If the defense if finally able to apply some early-down pressure on opposing QBs, this team has the chance to be special again. Williams may be just the guy to do it. Special teams should be lights out too. Every year it seems we add another piece to the puzzle. Really exciting.

Speaking of special teams....it will be interesting to see if teams choose to kick the ball to Simba Webster. If you've seen him in the open field, you know what I'm talking about. Good night!! He might be one of the most dynamic players I've ever seen at EWU with the ball in his hand and he's only a freshman. I would be surprised if he didn't return 2 kicks this year. Looks like he and Shaq will get the kickoff duties. This is huge because I believe we're going to be starting off with consistently good field position this year. Great news for a new QB.
As far as the O-line goes.....love the veterans on the line and we need to pound the ball on the ground. I love the young freshman coming in behind these guys as well. We are going to have some tanks on the line for the foreseeable future.
Like our corners too. I think we're going to see an improvement this year. Wadood, Gamboa, along with N. Webster, and a healthy D'londo Tucker. Only senior there is Wadood so we should keeping getting better over the next few years as they gain valuable experience.

Our WR's = second to none.

QB's - Wondering if Hennessey is the #2 in Baldwin's mind, or is Gubrud equivalent with him. Just curious the way it is listed. From what I've seen so far, I think Hennessey could develop into a stud. Gubrud also has that potential. Regardless of who is where on the depth chart---we are lucky to have competition at the position. It will push those guys to show up every day in practice and the film room. This means we get a more prepared product on the field.

The way I see it, if our D-line and linebackers can hold up, the sky is the limit.

go eags

Curious to know why Dylan Donohue is not listed. We had some good FR defensive lineman last year but I thought Dylan had the most promise, reminded me of a Tyler Jolly type. Plus we need all of the wide bodies we can get on the DL.

It'll be interesting to see how Jonah Jordan and Keenan Williams do, they bothwere really good in HS. Having to face Oregon for your first game would be an interesting challenge, I have a feeling they will do just fine....

Also wondering if the weights they have listed are correct especially for the linebackers. The weights listed are their HS weight?

clawman,
Strong-Side Linebacker, are two of the best, #35-Alex Karcmacik Fr), #43-Jake Gall So, not much experience. I can promise you these two men are going to raise hell on the field. I know you have seen them in practice, and wonder who they were. You mentioned Zamora, he is in a class by himself, the other two listed #59 Kurt Calhoun, and #47- Cody Beckering both of the are Freshmen, but they love to hit and can hit. We will hold our own. Don't want to say much more, we do have a lot of "TROLLS" on our blog.   Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

Vic;
Maybe the lack of experience is not so bad when we are learning a new defensive system. They do not have to break old tendencies and learn new ones, just play fast, and I know these guys are fast, fast, fast. They are more like road runners than Eagles!!

I think he has to take a year off -academic issues is the rumor I'm hearing. Hopefully he gets it straighten out and back next year.

Wow, a lot of big shockers here. Let's take a look.

Jake Gall was the forums destined linebacker. Very exciting recruit. I think everyone here assumed he would be starting next year. Yet, he is second behind Kacmarcik. Can't wait to see what Kacmarcik has in store, because I don't think I have had the pleasure of watching him play.

Victor Gamboa over Rashad Wadood. I like this. I like this a lot. This means we've brought in a recruit that in a few short years has developed to the level of a top FBS transfer. Wadood was the most exciting transfer on the market last year and Gamboa has developed to match him. I am very excited to see what is in store.

I'm a little disappointed that Saugen didn't put on the weight. I thought he had a lot of potential if he could just pack on a few pounds and not get thrown around so easily. However, it looks as if he has shuffled down to the third slot. Conner Baumann looks to be rotating with Ebukam which I am very very excited to see. Conner was my favorite 2013 recruit and I thought he was wasted talent at the tight end position. He will be something great as a defensive end.

Absolutely love the all senior offensive line. Almost entirely with experienced back ups. Bless you Coach Best. Bless you.

Freshman long snapper Curtis Billen. If he is a talented long snapper, we will have him for all of his college career. Very good position to have consistency in.

Air045,
I figured that was the problem. Hope he get his grades up and get ready for next year if not before. I am very much impressed with him on the DL. Watch #56- Jakob Stoll. Him and Dylan Donahue was always in with the tackling during practices. I was worried about him coming back, he had Concussion so he didn't practice much in practices. We normally lose some players, lets hope not to many, if we lose any. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

Rjones61,
You are going to be impressed with Kacmarcik, Beckering, Calhoun. Jake will work his butt of to get the starting spot. Watch #53- Air045 son, he will be hell on the DL, and remember he was State Champion in Throwing Events last year at Mead High. We have some great Line Backers. Curtis Billen was having some problems health wise, he taught he had Hernia, found out he didn't. He should be ready for long Snappers Job, pleasant individual to talk to with Terry Jackson 111rd. Will make a trip out to Campus today, find out what is all the construction going on. Will be a little quiet until about Aug 10th when Recruits are supposed to be back, 11th, Rest of the Players returns, with practice starts on the 12th, could be off a day. Hope to se as many of you at some of the practices this year. We have another Player from Tumwater High, LB, if he is as good as the other three Mat/Zach Johnson, Wimberly, he is going to be damn good. Will let you figure his name. I know I will see clawman. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

I think our need to run the ball more effectively will be complimented by a group up front that may have a natural strength there as a skill set. Success rushing the ball will let us control the clock more and that will also make our defense better!

I think Sampson Ebukam will dominate the next two years. Last year he made some incredible plays. This year he will benefit from a much improved defensive front.

I think he will dominate as well...just keep him away from interviews!

Such a veteran group on the offensive line is the best possible scenario to walk into if you are Jordan West, or any of our other QBs.

Pre-season depth charts don't mean a hell of a lot. I would't be surprised if this changed quite a bit by the Oregon game.

We had a great running game last year and it could be even better in 2015. Wilson and Moore really seemed to come into their own at various points last season.

agreed. O-Line looks like it could be dominant. Only concern is at center.

Whatever

This years defense will be flying around the field. With the change in scheme, it will allow more speed and athleticism to be put on display. The changes in the coaching staff will also be beneficial; getting people in positions to succeed and not leaning on old habits.

Working from the front back: Our d-line will be interesting. We have some work horses up front with some guys that could really make significant steps towards more playing time throughout camp. Our linebackers will be fine. Zumora will continue to do his thing and i think Alec from woodinville is going to be a stud.

Everyone is forgetting about Raynes in these conversations. Hes a 3 year starter and going to be a captain this year. Moving him to rover frees him up to go make plays in the box; whether hes blitzing off the edge or dropping into coverage. Perfect position for him.

The back end of the defense is now going to need to step up. Too many big plays given up last year. It will be nice to get some guys back and healthy to compete and make each other better.

Im excited for what this year brings! GO EAGS!
