Updated roster-running backs

Just took a glance at the updated roster on goeags.com and noticed we only have 3 returning rb's. Any thoughts on whether any of the incoming Freshman will see playing time this fall?

I don't think there's any doubt that at least 1-2 of the incoming Freshman will play next season. I think we have three solid guys returning, but yeah, that's not enough depth to sustain an entire season as we always seem to have 1-2 guys banged up throughout.

I really think that potential early playing time played a big part in signing the level of talent we did this year. I think the team will head into fall camp with all three incoming Freshmen competing for playing time, and 1-2 of them playing as true Freshmen.

EWURanger,
The Running Backs presently on the team are #2 Jabari Wilson, #20 Sam McPherson, #31 Ashanti Kindle. With the addition of Jordan Lurencio,(sp) #33, we will have 4 RBs, he is one of the Walk-ons earlier this month. He looks good. IMO Sam McPherson will be the stud in this group, he is very much buffed up, runs very hard. If you noticed they used him on punt Returns last year. Should Jabari Wilson stay healthy, he will be the starter, I think. We have Three other RB coming in sometime after June, Jason Talley, Tamerick Pierce, forgot the other young man name. Couple of them could make possible make the team. Go Eagles!!!!!Vic Wallace

To All, What I have seen on the above, they looked damn good in practice yesterday. I still think #65 Tristen Taylor is going to be hell on the OL, along with #60 Jarrod Jones,63 Jack Hunter, # 67 Big Ben PuaPuaga, #64 Chris Schlichting, #69 Will Gram (Fr), #70 Matt Meyer, and #74 Nick Ellison, #75 Spencer Blackburn, spoke to him yesterday. Right now he is behind Jarrod Jones. # 77 Levi Long. They all look good and strong. Coach Best is outing them through some very strong exercises, testing their strength. Chris Schlichting was in Montana sight, but we got him the be an Eagle. He loves it here. Go Eagles!!!!! Don't forget, Saturday 09:45 a Scrimmage is coming, should be great Scrimmage. The Following Saturday, 23rd, Red & White Scrimmage, followed by the Steak Lobster Get Together. Vic Wallace

I'm excited about the guys we signed this year. I'm hoping Talley gets a shot as a true freshman. I wanna see that guy run some folks over.

Ya, me too. It will be fun to watch these young RB studs we just signed grow and mature with our young O-linemen. There are many reasons to believe that a large chunk of the next 4 years are going to be special with our ground game. I don't think I've ever been this excited about the potential in an O-line or RB class at EWU. Hope there aren't too many growing pains this upcoming year though. We will have a special group of receivers this year and if we can support our passing game with any kind of a ground attack it could be a great year.

go eags!

Anyone think the 3 star we signed from Della Salle has a chance to play this year?

Eagle Talon,
We have 4 RB, we have a walk on #33, Jordan Lucernio, fro West Side, he looks pretty good running, those are my taughts, it is left to the Coach. I think maybe two of the Recruits will be making the Team, Tally and Pierce. The Walks ons are not on the Roster, I think there are 8-10, Local Plyers and one from Alaska, WR. Maybe next time will get the walk ons and put them on the blog. Hope some of you have an opportunity to come Thursday, or Saturday. I think all will be surprised. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

It's tough to say. He doesn't have a lot of size but he does have some other things going for him. Looks like he has pretty decent hands, but his greatest asset seems to be his vision. Kid has great cut-back-ability which allows him to make several defenders miss quite frequently. Reminds me a little bit of Quincy Forte and I kind of see him filling the same type of role as Forte. Runs off-tackle well but it looks like he's not afraid to run inside either. We are going to need some of the young RB's to step up. Really like the size of the Talley kid though.

go eags!

My first instinct would be that the two smaller running backs take a redshirt year to put on some muscle and adjust to college level football, so they don't get absolutely wrecked their first year. The only runningback I can speculate from this incoming class to be physically fit as a true freshman would be Talley. However, Malcolm Williams was smaller than all of this RB class and he played as a true freshman. Can't really say for sure until we get to fall camp, I suppose.

A lot of it will depend on what kind of shape the 3 Freshman are in when they show up, how much weight and strength they've built up over the summer, etc. On paper, Talley looks the most ready, but if it's anything like previous years all three will go into fall camp with a shot to play as true Freshman.
