The team is going to get better and better as the season progresses, and it seems like half of you all are ready to pack it in after one goddamn game.

Support the Wildcats and quit bitching because we lost to Utah State.

I've never felt more shame than on Friday night. It was almost hard to walk after that loss. It took everything I had to get out of that stadium. I really wanted to call coach today and ask for my money back. It was that embarrassing.

And let me just say to you I am extremely jealous of you. Your life is so damn amazing that one friggin loss to Utah State is equal to you shitting your pants on live TV.

I'm sorry guys but I am just sick of this fudging pity party that has been going on all weekend. Quit your bitching about the loss, quit your bitching about playing a small school, and just enjoy watching the goddamn game.

Not really trying to :stir: but wanted to mention a sports article on KSL.com re: Wildcats loss vs. USU that quoted Coach Rahe's response after mentioning that the fan boards lit up after. Basically pointed out Rahe's philosophy is to improve as the season goes on, but quoted: "With our system, it usually takes us awhile to play really good. We're a team that kind of builds momentum as the preseason goes. We've always been that way, we were that way last year. Really bad early, got better, got better...and by the time January 1 rolled around, we started to play pretty good." Nothing new & confirming an emphasis on conference play, as has been pointed out.

Rahe runs a system. His system is similar to Stews, but I think, for whatever reason, it takes time to fully ingratiate into our players. We all know the drill, under Rahe it has been the same every year. I'm not complaining though. I like winning conference championships. Even if the team isn't ready in November, they usually are by February.

I'm done on this subject and could understand what he's saying if we were starting a lot of new players, but only 2 of the 8 in the rotation are new to the program. One starter........ Is new! The other four starters have been running Rahe's program for 1-2 years. I'm starting to agree with youngguns about the definition of insanity! :lol: :lol: :lol:

One starter is new to the team. 4 of the top 9 guys are new to the team. The first and second guards off the bench are true freshmen. The second big off the bench is a new JC player. Of the starting 5, 2 started last year. The other three are new starters. they are a JC and 2 sophomores who saw some reserve action last year.

The USU fans were really nice. It was the craziest game I have ever witnessed. You could hear a pin drop at the end of the first half. USU fans were saying that this is a really good Weber team and the worst team they had ever had. I had prepped my daughter by telling her that this was on of the loudest arenas in college basketball and sometimes their fans are inappropriate. At the end of the first half she said it wasn't very loud at all. Then the nightmare started and the Spectrum started rocking. The fans still kept it pretty cordial.

Did anyone else hear Stew say on the radio after that he didn't expect to win the game? He said that he told his team at the half that they needed to play harder on D and keep the game respectable.

Yeah I heard that as well from Stew. You certainly cannot discount the fans and their impact on the game. I was sitting pretty close to that section and it was probably difficult for our young players to focus. That too will come with experience but it is no coincidence that the visiting team has that side of the court in the 2nd half.

:twocents:Of course it's no coincidence they have the craziest students behind the road team's second half basket. Just look at the shooting percentage of every team that goes up there 1st half vs 2nd. The impact cannot be overstated. The same thing happens when we play at Montana.

I mentioned moving our student section years ago but a few diehards think the hidden corner, where the road team sees nothing in the second half, has the best view. I will say it again! First of all, who gives a ship about your view. Second of all, I sat behind our basket Monday night and the view is perfect! I could hear everything the players were saying which means they could hear everything I said.

We almost blew the Big Sky tourney again last year against Northern Colorado for this exact reason. It has already cost us a NCAA tourney birth in 2010. We need to move it for the BYU game and see what happens! Who's with me?

So if Randy doesn't expect his own team to win much before conference, should we stop expecting them to? Really hard to build excitement for the program with that kind of attitude, Randy. And it's one thing to think it, but quite another to say it publicly. Just sounds like an excuse for losing nearly every instate game you've ever coached. :wall:

For whatever reason Weber State gives those seats right above, behind the basket, to away fans. I've never understood that. It leaves me absolutely baffled. Weber should be like all other schools and give seats in the nose bleeds to away fans and player passes. If Weber feels bad, put them in section E. Anyway, I think the students should have two areas the 2 sections where they are, and then that section right above the away team. That keeps them with 3 sections. Also, I think the band or the craziest most insane students should have specials standing area directly behind the basket on the floor. Let's all remember though, we first of all have to have students attending games. :thumb:

:agree: but who is "we" and why would anyone expect anything different from the administration regarding change that might improve anything? I'm still hno: over zero promotion of Weber's first home football game vs a highly ranked, three-time, consecutive national champion. My season ticket holding wife had no clue who was coming to town. hno: :wall:

Why would Weber want to move the 20 students who attend and stand from their top-dollar seats and put them in a position to actually help the team? Why would Weber want to benefit financially from getting for $$$ from paying customers for those seats? Why....I could go on and on again, but I wont... :dead:

I want a refund for the first two months of the season! Fans shouldn't attend games until January if that's when the team is ready to start the season!

So I read through the entire thread from last year and now I am all fired up! That drive from Logan to Ogden was the longest drive of my life. That game was really deflating. Its time to come out and slaughter us Bull. Respect or not, if we have a chance to win big we need to take it. Nothing will erase the memory of last year, but a 30 point beat down in the DEE at hands of our Cats is a start.

And Tal.... If we would have known how the rest of the season would have played out last year, we probably would have jumped off that ledge.

we never beat usu anymore. just 2 wins vs usu in past decade. stew lost to weber 3 of his first 4 and then after that it was too many in a row to list here.
