Utah Tech

Annoying to have now lost to every in-state opponent we’ve faced. The players are clearly talented. But the scheme appears to be lacking. I’m skeptical that this team is going to do much more than last year’s squad. Another long, conference slate on tap…

The local talent (Layton High and Davis High) beat Weber State’s talent...so not sure it’s all it’s made out to be, of course, it’s better coached. I said it on the other thread, but I really think Lillard’s success has been kind of a curse on Weber State. We get glory hogs trying to reach the NBA and then Lillard’s money gives us another 3 years of Duft. Less than 2,000 people bother to watch this nonsense…God bless them to continue to support Weber State during this fiasco.

We need to get a new coach who won’t overlook local talent and develops a team and doesn’t bank on “talent” chucking up threes. Good teams beat talented individuals every time.

SO...AGAIN during the Duft era, Weber lost to Utah Tech at home. Where NORTHERN UTAH athletes were central to UTU winning. To add insult to injury, this loss feels more like a road loss than one at the Dee. The Dee was virtually empty and the contingent of UTU fans were louder and far more engaged. If I was the interim president I would have the AD in my office to explain why the hell Weber State Athletics is struggling so badly.

I can't be a Tim apologist when EVERYONE knew that Duft's contract should NOT HAVE BEEN RENEWED! He could have just said, "I'm not renewing your contract." 4-7, with two losses at home (DI Games only). I always want to eat crow, but losing to UTU at home just burns a little too much. Weber State Men's Basketball was a once proud program that beat BYU, Utah and Utah State FREQUENTLY. Now, we are losing to UTU, the former JUCO, at home.
