Utah Valley Wolverines

2nd Home game of the year against our (hopefully) new instate rivarly series (since Utah wont play us anymore), vs the Utah Valley Wolverines

Wildcats lead all time series just 3-2, in a battle of the home teams as the Wildcats are 3-0 at home and the Wolverines are 2-0 at home in the series

The Wolverines who are 3-5 are coming off 3 straight losses, a 75-67 loss at Santa Clara, a 75-50 loss to USC Upstate (UVU was down 20 at half) and a loss to North Carolina Central (UVU was down 40-18 at the half). Utah Valley plays home to Pepperdine on Saturday.

One common opponent, Utah Valley did beat Eastern Washington 86-83 in the CBE Hall of fame classic in Santa Clara.

After Weber's big win over Dayton, I might be a good thing that the game is a week away, there is alwyas the possibility of a letdown after a huge win, but they will have the whole week to prepare for the Wolverines and cool thier nerves, hopefully avoiding a after big win letdown that is all too common in college basketball.

I think Weber rolls in this game, but anything can happen in a college basketball game, my prediction- Weber State- 82 Utah Valley- 69

WE ARE WILDCAT NATION
WE ARE WEBER STATE
GO WILDCATS :notworthy:

I agree, that Weber should win this one. However, I think UVU will come in with some fight in them. This is a big game for them and they will scratch and claw all the way through. I expect it to get a little chippy. It should be a fun game to watch. I expect that our guys will play with a little more confidence, play fast, and prove themselves to be more than ready for the fight.

I am really excited to see Fulton back and to have a full roster against them this time.

I have a class that night so I will miss but me and a friend of mine will be there on next Saturday. He is also going with me to the BYU game. I may have two friends of mine at the BYU game. The problem with that is one of them is a couger fan.

I'm also looking forward to Fulton's return. But I wonder who is going to sit so Fulton gets minutes? Will Fulton's return mean Bolomboy will get more time at the 5 spot and Hajek will sit more?

I expect that Fulton will get limmited minutes for a while. His minutes, as we move forward, will be situational. The rotation at 4 & 5 is three deep. It's a good problem for a coach to have. I believe that depth is what won the Dayton game, and now we have a little more. The nice thing about Fulton is his ability to hit the three. His inside game has improved a lot also. We are deep enough that foul trouble should not become a huge issue. We can be quite agressive on both ends of the floor. :coffee:

UVU beat Pepperdine at home on Saturday 67-63 in overtime, Montana State lost by 10 at home to Pepperdine back on the 29th of November

Sheesh these one game a week weeks are kicking my butt, not to mention it's been over a month since Weber was at home

Highly annoying!! There has to be a good reason why Rahe scheduled the season this way. First issue, and perhaps, most importantly, nobody wants to play us. Forget about ever seeing a BCS or A10esque program visit the Dee. NOT saying impossible, but highly improbable. Next, young and inexperienced team. Keep the team improving in practice and playing together but reward them, for their efforts, with occassional games. You don't want to destroy a young teams confidence, but build it.

As for UVU. I have no idea what to expect. We know that UVU will be tough as nails, and will do everything in their power to push the Cats, but I also expect a victory by Weber. But the Cats cannot overlook UVU. They have weapons and can be really dangerous.

We all know this Wolverine team is going to out swinging, we all saw last year how good and athletic they are as a team, and we know that they would love to beat us just as much as we'd love to beat BYU or USU.

Expect a dog fight, and just like oldrunner said, it could even get chippy.

Looks like the Cats will be facing a team that, without Isaiah Williams, it pretty much the same team as last March.
Hunsaker
Johnson
Hubbard
Thompson
Aird

Is their starting five...Nic Thompson -who once signed an LOI with Weber State- plays for UVU.

FINALLY It's game day.

Signing day
Three high school seniors just signed their national letters of intent to play for the Cats in 2008-09. They are Nick Thompson, a 6-9 190 lb forward from Clearfield High, Terrance Dent , a 6-1 185 lb guard from Mullen High (Denver, CO), and Damian Lillard, a 6-1 165 lb guard from Oakland High (Oakland, CA).

Rahe: "They each bring a set of skills to our program which will make us better. First off, they are all high character individuals and are solid students in the classroom. That is as important to us as their playing skills. They each fit nicely into our program and will be excellent teammates."

Other than the injury, this game has turned into a laugher. #WeberState leads 83-54, 4:15 2nd. @bigtrez44 has 20 pts, @sbam04 with 18

Students?????

Not sure waht was going on, but I was really disapointed in the student turnout. The ones who did show were quite vocal and into it. We just need about 10x that amount. I would guess that there were 300 students in attendance. What is the studentbody now? 28,000+. If one in ten shows up, I'm a happy camper. Is anyone, on campus, actually in charge of marketting to the students? If so, what is the plan? If there is a plan, shouldn't it be reviewed, changed, modified, something????

Just askin'....

I have to admit, I expected a little more fight out of UVU. We just wore them down. Half way through the second half, they were just going through the motions. It didn't help when their big man got in foul trouble. They didn't seem to have much depth and we just kept coming at them with fresh players. They can't claim that they were homered. I wish we could get that evenly of a called game on the road. I don't know what the rebounding numbers were, but it sure looked like we were dominating. Also, we had a ton of blocked shots and steals. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

You saw 280 more students than i did, in the student section anyway. Absolutely pathetic, & embarrassing.

Great game last night by the Cats, I didnt expect a 33 point win, but it is what I wanted. I am liking what I see out of this Weber team, they are fast, athletic, and they share the ball really well. 17 assists that's awesome.

Love the energy tonight as well, especially from Bolomboy, man can that kid get up in the air, that hammer dunk was awesome as well as all his others.
Tresnak is playing lights out right now, 36 points in two games, he is playing right now how we expected him to before the season started, lets hope it continues.

53 of our 89 points came from our bigs, that is what I like to see.

Only real disapointing thing from last nights game was the lack of students and lack of crowd energy (it was a blowout so that's understandable)

Lets go out Saturday and get a good win over a pretty good UC Irvine team GO WILDCATS

Watched the game on Big Sky TV last night. First time I've seen the Cats play this year. Wow, they looked great! They played very well together as a team. I was impressed by their defense in the 2nd half and the way they pushed the ball up the court. It really put pressure on UVU, pressure they weren't able to handle. We've got some good speed on the team this year. Tresnak looked great, hope he can keep up the inside presence. It was the first time I've seen Bolomboy play. He has some potential, a great raw athlete that with some work and development could become a great player. But at this point as a true freshman still has the ability to make an impact on the game. If they play like they did last night the Cats are going to make some noise in the Big Sky this year. Let's do it!

But where were the fans???? I know the attendance was listed at 5,500 but on TV it looked like half that... Come on WSU create some excitement and interest in this team and program! There are 25,000+ students and over 250,000 people in Weber/North Davis area and you can't get more the 3,000 to come watch this great team! Where is the building off momentum from the last few years?
