Excited about our chances! The new lineup will allow us to compete!

7 days off between games and the starters should be ready to play. One of three games left before conference play! Potential has been an ugly word for this team. Now it's time to show what we're capable of doing this season! :thumb:

We need this "W." We owe UVU one. God, I hated watching Dick Hunsaker celebrate after we lost to them last season. Guy's a clown.

Is this a must win game? Oklahoma is going to be tough...... Bristol should be a win. Bad form to go into EWU with a losing record, but it is what it is.

Out of all the teams to open conference play it sucks that we start in Chaney. Could've used a couple of conference games to acclimate.

Last year we had one D1 win going into conference play. Unfortunately, this years team is much different than last years. To be the best you have to beat the best. Acclimate to what? We will have been playing ball for 6 weeks at that point.

Wait, I thought OOC and in-state WAS the acclimation? If not, then what in the h3ll is Rahe talking about?

Saw the University is allowing 4 free guests with students and giving all students a $5 gift card to The Oaks. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother to buy season tix.

Looks like a student promotion. What does it have to do with a non student buying season tickets. You sound like a tight wod. Do you just whine to hear your own voice?

Cause I know plenty of students who could get me in as a guest. The point is, Weber's only marketing strategy anymore is to give away as many free tickets as possible. Makes those that actually pay feel like it's pointless to pay for a ticket. Nice to see you back being a douche.

Really? This promotion to 1 game when school is out 5 days before Christmas, makes you feel like it's pointless to pay for tix? You're an odd Duck...

Does not bother me at all.

I would rather see this than nothing at all. I pay for tickets and the Wildcat Club because I want to support the program. If someone else gets free tickets it does not impact me at all.

You can be the best marketing team on the planet when everything you offer is free! its so easy even Olds could lead the marketing team!

Thanks for the support Mid.

Personally, I think that Weber State should be doing even more for the students. There is no reason to not fill the student section every single game, if it can be accomplished. Students are paying for those seats, they should be using them. I don't care if it is their family or friends who are coming with them.

As far as the cheap seats being offered more cheaply, sure, it is worth a try. I don't mind promotions, that bring in selected groups to expose them to a great product, that may encourage them to buy tickets at some later date. When they do come as guests of WSU, they should be wined and dined and sold for future events. Addresses, emails and phone numbers should be taken for future marketing. In short, the marketing function at WSU should never miss an opportunity to sell WSU. :twocents:

I meet twice a month with local business owners and we talk about marketing efforts and what is working and what is not. On multiple occasions the WSU ticket voucher promotion for the NDSU game has been brought up as a very successful idea. The perception in the community is that it was very successful.

Olds, marketing has some very basic rules. One of those is to increase the VALUE of your product in an attempt to increase revenues. The continued promotions which provides free tickets actually devalues your product. Bovee and Rahe have to learn that the best method to increase attendance to to provide a product that is winning rivalry games in state! Almost to create a fictional crown of the best collegiate basketball program in state. That build the tradition, that builds the desire to attend games in a winning program! Entertainment dollars are tight! I really likes what WBB did last week with the field trip game....... Get them while they're young. The pride in the Weber program is about the instate games! Beat USU. beat BYU and the Dee will fill up!

Nobody cares that you are a member of the Ogden Rotary club. :twocents:
Anywho, on to the actual game. This will be an old fashioned slobber knocker with the combined point total could honestly be less than 80 total points scored. Neither team is real great at scoring the ball. We will see a ton of fouls and probably a lot of turnovers. Might resemble basketball before the dunk shot and the 3 were allowed. :wall:

The game could turn out to be a slobber knocker all right. It could also turn out quite differently. If we can hit a few shots and force them out of their packed in defense, we can take control of this game and never look back.
We know that they are going to sit back and defend the paint, they did that against USU. They can't hang with us athletically and they know it. They will not be going after offensive rebounds much. They will be sprinting back on defense. We need to out rebound them and get to our offensive glass as often as we can. We need to get back to playing our regular D and mix in a little zone, now and then. I fully expect a much improved performance out of the Cats Saturday night.

Here's what Randy Rahe had to say about tomorrow's game. While he said he wasn't sure about the lineup, it seems like he'll stick with Hajek for the time being. It was nice to see him have a good game last week, hope he continues to do so.

Thanks for the post and the comments from coach...... Although I appreciate your efforts and truly enjoy your insight, I'm disappointed that coach never gets the tough questions. Its really seems like our sports programs operates without question and it's important that the press dig deeper into what's working and what's not! The Coach speak after 9 years is getting a little old. The softball questions really doesn't provide true insight into the state of our athletic programs. I'm not saying go negative, but it would be nice to know where the program is headed and why we've had a large number of transfers! Why has Coach Rahe's team not perform well against instate competition? It's seems like there's hundreds of question and all you get is the same comments from the coaches. I do enjoy the positive articles, but think there needs to be a balance.
