Utah Valley

Well...I'll be honest, I know very little about Utah Valley. I know they have a handful of local guys playing for them and making a decent impact. Marcel Davis, Konnor Frey, and Jaden Jackson (three guys who had stellar high school careers in Utah) playing I believe the 1, 2, and 3. Both Davis and Frey played in Logan once upon a time and Jackson came from SLCC.

UVU has a couple of other guys playing for them who should be somewhat familiar to Weber State fans. Hayden Schenck from Weber High, by the way of SLCC, is playing for the Wolverines. Tyler Ott who was, prior to his mission, a Weber State recruit is in Orem. We passed on him and he ended up at UC Davis for a season and now is in Orem. I just noticed that Christian Musoko has committed to play in Orem next year. I thought he spent a season at Central Arkansas, but I think he left before playing a game and enrolled at SLCC last year. It shows that he is currently a sophomore in Salt Lake.

UVU has lost to two other conference mates, SUU came from behind and beat them on Saturday and Montana State beat them a couple of weeks ago. Both games were played in Orem. Also, UVU lost to BYU by 31 to start the season and last week lost to USU, in Logan, by 26. They did beat Antelope by 44 (104-60). Personally, I don't take anything for granite, especially when playing in Utah County, but I think the Cats have a decent shot at ending the curse.

Here is what I know about them.

They get jacked up, sky high, to play us. This is their BIG game. We can expect a dog fight. We are not going to get many calls. To win, we will need to play through all of that and keep cool heads. We have the depth to run at them all night long, so do it. :coffee:

i think your points are the only way possible we could lose this game because uvu looks really bad this year.

Vs D1:
@ BYU L 85-54
@ Denver L 75-62
@ Utah State L 81-55
UC Davis L 82-70
Montana State L 76-72
SUU L 68-54

last yr uvu had 9 wins vs D1 and 2 were against the bengals.

we are 5-0 at home vs uvu but in orem 0-3. this means we have never won a basketball game in utah county against byu or uvu.

uvu was picked 6th in the coaches poll of 8 wac teams. uvu's hayes garrity was picked as a preseason wac 2nd teamer.

Everything, on paper, points to a WSU win. I believe that we will win as well. I just don't think it will be as easy as paper would make it seem. This is an instate game and emotions will be running high, It helps us a lot that we have gone on the road and pulled out some wins against higher quality teams than UVU. If we are going to have WAC officials, anything could happen and probably will. We just need to fight through it.

I predict a hard fought first half, with the Wildcats pulling away in the second half. Bolomboy and Braxton should have outstanding nights. Guard play will be improved over the BYU game. We may see the same tactics deployed against our guards, but the athletes involved are quite different. :coffee:

Is the game on tv?
Or alternate way to watch?

You can also watch it on the WAC Digital Network: http://www.wacsports.com/sports/2015/3/27/GEN_0327151717.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Game Day...

Do the Cats finally pull off a W in Utah County? End the Curse Randy!!

Looking at the probable match ups. Weber State has a big advantage at every position except PG. Davis is a 5th year SR and a solid player. If we lose this game I will officially give up on Rahe when it comes to in state games. This is a no excuse game. If this game was at the Dee would say Weber wins by 25, but in Orem should be at least 15. Please don't F up this game!!!! UVU is terrible.

im looking forward to seeing #5 Schenck on UVU. it is too bad he couldn't have played for weber.

his grandfather, Dee Schenck, i would consider the #1 wsu bball fan there has ever been. he has known literally almost every single player in weber's entire D1 basketball history which started in 1962. Dee has been a usher at the dee on the floor at i believe every game ive ever attended. he has been to almost every game in the dee (29 yrs) and the 15 years in the swenson. he has known all 9 head coaches as well. he was the manager of the wsu book store back in the 60's and 70's. he also ushers the football games. in bball i think he is the usher boss too.

i highly recommend meeting dee if you ever get the chance. his stories from willie to dame are very cool. ask him about any player or coach and i am sure he will have a story for you. if he was 30 years younger i think he would be on this board. you can even find him on instagram.

Where did our team game go?

It's not like UVU is playing complete stellar defense, we need to stop playing selfish to, way to much uncontrolled 1 on 1.

Lets get back to the way we were playing in Florida, and put these Wolverines away

NO FIRE IN THE TEAM... THE MOST UNINSPIRED PLAY I'VE SEEN FROM THEM THIS YEAR. And yes, the rims sound like they are loose. but no excuse for shooting 29%. Get with the program boys!!
