"The Huskies might announce this week that they are getting out of a home-and-home series with BYU in 2011 and 2012 and will instead play home games against Eastern Washington and Portland State."

Wow! Playing UW in Husky stadium! That is cool.

Unfortunately we need the money since JG has driven all the fans away from PGE Park.

Portland State officially added to 2012 schedule

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/huskyfootballblog/2010841829_portland_state_officially_adde.html

UW has announced today that Portland State has been officially added to the schedule for the 2012 season.

This had been in the works for a while and worked leaked out long ago, but the details weren't all ironed out until just recently, hence today's announcement. Portland State will come to Husky Stadium for the first game of the 2012 season, Sept. 1, and depending on how things work out for the renovation, that could be the first game in a new Husky Stadium. Portland State is also now coached by former Husky Nigel Burton, a defensive back from 1996-98.

UW added Portland State (as well as Eastern Washington in 2011) after dropping the second half of a four-game series with BYU that would have had UW hosting BYU in 2011 and going to Provo in 2012. EWU and PSU will be the first lower-division schools UW has ever played.

So that means that the opponents for the schedules for the next three years are complete.

What could change are some of the dates, particularly of Pac-10 games, as all teams are now working to fit a bye or two into their schedules. UW has released these as the schedules for the next three years, so I will present them here, as well. But fully expect some changes in the order of games in 2011 and 2012 to create some in-season byes. The 2010 schedule should not change now.

Nice!

I've never actually been to Husky Stadium. Interesting comments about the renovation. Not sure if that bill will pass, but if it does, I wouldn't be surprised if we played them at Qwest Field. From what I've read, Husky Stadium is in shambles, and a renovation would be no small task.

I've been to Husky Stadium and while the setting is spectacular, the stadium itself is not. It is horrible. The biggest complaint I have is the track. It pushes the fans away from the field. The west end zone seats are horrible. They need to take the track out and lower the field and rebuild the end zone seats.

Any football stadium with a track in it sucks. Boise State brags about their stadium but it has a track too. So therefore it sucks too! :D

Portland State football: Vikings added to Washington's 2012 home schedule

http://www.oregonlive.com/vikings/index.ssf/2010/01/portland_state_football_viking_16.html

The University of Washington has officially added Portland State to its 2012 football schedule, finalizing a deal to play the Vikings on Sept. 1 at Husky Stadium, the Pacific-10 Conference school announced Wednesday.

The Vikings agreed to game several months ago, but were waiting for Washington to approve the contract and set a date. The game with the Huskies in one of three scheduled against Pac-10 schools over the next three seasons for the Vikings, who will face Oregon at Autzen Stadium in Eugene on Sept. 18 next season, followed by a game at Arizona State in 2011.

Until recently, the Huskies had refused to schedule games against lower division teams, but now are set to play two FCS opponents from the Big Sky Conference, taking on Eastern Washington to open the 2011 season before facing the Vikings.

Totally agree about the tracks!

Dang. I just heard on the radio that UW's 2012 home schedule has been moved Qwest Field due to stadium renovation. So much for going to Husky Stadium.
