The Portland State men's basketball program has added two players to its roster for the coming season, although both will redshirt due to NCAA transfer rules.
Nathan Lozeau, a 6-10 center, has transferred from the University of San Diego after spending the last two seasons with the Toreros. Lozeau was recruited by Portland State out of Marysville-Pilchuck (WA) High School before he chose San Diego.
Lozeau, who will be a junior when he is eligible to play in 2010-11, played in 32 games at San Diego over two seasons. He scored 55 points and had 41 rebounds while averaging 7.6 minutes per game.
Nigel Peter-Denman, another player from the state of Washington, will walk on with the Viking program. Peter-Denman is from Ballard High School in Seattle and played the last two seasons at the University of Denver.
A 6-3 guard, Peter-Denman competed in 17 games as a freshman in 2007-08, averaging 2.1 points per game. He averaged 6.5 minutes per game and shot .625 from three-point range. As a sophomore, Peter-Denman played in 24 games, averaging 1.2 points per game.
Portland State, under first-year Head Coach Tyler Geving, has five returning letterwinners and two returning starters for the 2009-10 season. The Vikings have three seniors on the roster.
