Exactly what SHA said, if/when Sac State is FBS, we will get the media attention we have been craving. Even a depleated conference such as the WAC will be 100 times harder to ignore than the irrelevant FCS Big Sky. GCM, the 20th largest media market means a lot to the WAC as they will be looking for any leverage possible to try and maintain a sizable payout from their TV contract. ESPN and the WAC are going to begin negotiations in the near future regarding their contract. The loss of the media darling Boise State is sure to impact the payout, having large media markets (possibly Sac, Portland, and San Antonio) to replace the BSU draw may help.
But if only 6,000 tv sets are what we represent does this market really care about Sac State? Look at UOP, they were/are part of the demographic and that didnt help them when it came time for a home game and only 6,000 showed up. For an FBS team that certainly would be on espn, as a ridicule.
15K show up for a prep game in Sacto and espn isnt even in their world. So the tv aspect will do nothing to drive attendance.
Look, I want this to happen, but after much thought have to question the sane reasons why.
