while most wsu fans are mad right now, hawks is loving this.
You really think I'm loving this? Just calling it as I see it. And for the record, I'm fucking pissed. I hate losing, but I hate losing to Montana more than anything. And we can't seem to beat them when really it counts in basketball or football.

Oh, and the other reason we lost this game... Idaho State! I mean think about Montana's mind set... they spank Idaho State twice and Weber loses to them? You know they have been thinking this whole week... "if Idaho State can beat them, we surely can!" That gave them much more confidence than they would have had if we were still undefeated.

One more thought... refs were absolutely not to blame!

I think Montana is going to have a hard time beating us next week. This is not the end of our season. We need to come back and play hard.

Barring the results of next week's tourney, is it now safe to say that Randy simply can't win the big ones? I hate to and don't want to believe it, but almost every opportunity he's had to separate himself from that stigma, the Wildcats choke it away.

Agree 100%. Make adjustments, work the ball inside, and give your best player the best opportunity to succeed. Tinkle is a better big game coach.

Coaching = Push. Both are great coaches, but Tinkle may have a slight edge as he has won the big game two years ago.
I disagree... Montana has the definite advantage here... Rahe recruits well, Montana coach gets more out of his players and had his kids playing inspired defense.

Yep. When it was Dame's time to take over and be the star, he was content to be a role player. Story of his career in big games. Just maddening to watch.
I don't believe at all it was Dame's mindset here... I think it was his coach's ability to inspire, get him and the team prepared and up for this game.

Oh well, we get a second shot at beating them on their floor this year!

Meh...... Wut? Rahe's inability to inspire, prepare & get the team up? You post on here after a loss. You sound like somebody with an axe to grind.

Weber depends far to much on the 3 and sets. Gotta play to our strengths when playing against UM. They are slower than the Cats and don't have as good of Bigs as Weber, but we still tried to play from the perimeter.

I love Randy Rahe as our coach, and hope he stays at Weber for many years to come. I don't like the alternative, and any true fan of Weber State basketball shouldn't either. Let's look at the Utes as a prime example of fans running a coach out. They got sick of their Big (in many ways) coach and now they are a shell of what they use to be. I want Randy to stay at Weber and keep the Cats at the top of the conference.

Yes, though, we as Cat fans have to admit that Tinkle Bell does a great job of shutting down Weber. He's got Rahe's number, for now, but it can't last forever. I think the Wizard needs to get away from playing the Grizz like they have been playing them. Weber needs an unorthodox strategy. You can't take your time getting up the court. That 1-3-1 half court trap was killing our offensive efficiency, and then the Grizz went into a match up zone and killed our perimeter game. How do you beat a Zone? Attack it!! Did Weber? NO. Randy loss the chess match to Tinkle again.

Another thing that was really frustrating was the lack of efficiency when the Cats got into transition. Over passing, not passing, not attacking, taking bad shots, YIKES!! Why is it, that the Cats start shooting soooo damn badly at the end of the season?? 3-26??? There were a lot of open looks that the Cats missed badly, not as ugly as Selvig's shot, but...

Ugh!! THIS SUCKS!! Also, I hate altitude!!! Those annoucers were terrible. Gotta admit, Cherry did have a good game last night. Like high school, he beat Dame again in a big game.

Hey, I know last night didn't go like you guys wanted. It's just too bad both of these teams can't make the Dance, or at least it's too bad both of these teams had to occur in the same year. Generally, you run away and hide in the BSC with a 14-2 record.

I know you didn't shoot it well at all, and I expect you to be better next week. However, after watching that happen to every team the Griz have faced this year, I've come to realize that the majority of the poor shooting is due to the ridiculous defense the Griz play. If can defend, you can win. And the Griz are one of the best defensive teams in the history of the BSC.

Congrats on a terrific regular season. I don't relish the thought of playing you again in a week, but I love the way the Griz are playing.

Tinkle is a hell of a good coach, and a defensive specialist, but...you need to look to his right and see the magic behind the improved defense: BILL EVANS. Yikes, SUU was soooooooooo stupid for firing him. If he is back next year, I will be shocked. He should be a head coach. MSU would be smart to get rid of HUSE and hire Evans. He is the winningest coach in SUU history, took them to the Dance in 2000 (Beus and House) almost beating Boston College in the first round, and is a master at zone defenses. He is the genius behind your 1-3-1 half court. He isn't the greatest recruiter. So you put his strengths together with Tinkles' recruiting abilities...YIKES!!! You get a Big Sky Championship and a 15-1 Conference Record.

we cant say we live an die by the 3 in 2012 that just makes us sound like numb skulls. shooting the 3 ball has been one of our strengths all year. before the game i believe we were 7th best in the nation. obviously teams need to make adjustments during games but we cant say we shouldnt shoot outside of the paint against the griz. sets and the 3 got us 23 wins including a win against the griz in ogden. we need to be ready to play them again next week but we cant just go fire the offensive coordinater.

No doubt Evans is the brains behind the defense. And I agree he probably won't be seated next to Tinks much longer. In fact, he's rumored to be a finalist for the ISU job, although I'd be somewhat surprised if he took that gig. If we're lucky, he'll hang around Missoula until the enevitable day when Tinks gets kicked upstairs and he can grab the UM job.

Nope, after blowing two huge leads I posted with the same concern. Loose, lax, unfocused, undisciplined play. If I have an axe to grind it is the inability to get out of the talent on this team what one should be able to get out of them. I also predicted the Idaho State loss, not specifically, just a loss like that... waiting to happen.

Two points:
1. I am disappointed Weber lost last night. I certainly wanted Weber to win and host the tournament. Didn't happen - too bad. Move on.

2. Weber still has a great shot to win the tournament and go to the NCAA tournament. This team always plays much better after a loss. I still like Weber's chances to win the tournament next week. They will most likely play Portland State and then most likely Montana in the finals (assuming things pan out as most would expect). I think Weber will win that game (hopeful and wishful thinking yes, but also realistic as well).

It was just one regular season game (a big game), but still just a regular season game.
Reboot, reload, and go after it next week!

100% agree :thumb:

TIme to regroup, beat our semi-final opponent and then take the tournament championship on UM's home court. The game next week is 1000 times more important than last nights game, its Weber's time to go to the NCAA tournament and UM's time to take the Auto bid to the NIT.
