Is that boys, girls, or both for PSU?

And how does this affect the conference tournament? Are they in with the proviso that if they win, the runner-up gets the auto-bid? Does the runner-up still go to the NIT, so that we get NO auto-bid? Does the ninth-place team get in instead? Or is there just an extra bye at some point?

The permutations here are just cr@zy to think about.

PSU men are ineligible for all national postseason play, which means they are ineligible for the Big Sky Tournament. Even if they finish first in conference (which they won't because they are backsliding really quickly), they won't claim the regular season title (the NIT guarantee).

I guess the question remains: if they suddenly improve to the point of winning the regular season, will the guarantee revert to the second-place team, or do we just go without? I'm sure the B(C)$ would just LOVE to stick it to us....

I would agree with you, GCM. But that begs the question of whether the league brings up #9 (on the theory of taking the top 8 QUALIFYING teams) or just stick a bye where PSU would qualify. It'll be interesting to see how the league office treats this.

If the conference shuffle pans out, I bet the league will have bigger worries.
