"Thursday features an intriguing matchup between Weber State and Northern Colorado in Greeley. Northern Colorado is 2-1 in conference and a Big Sky-best 13-3 overall. Defending regular-season champion Weber State is 3-0 in conference and has won nine of its last 12"

"WEBER HITS THE ROAD: Weber State is off to a 3-0 start in conference play and has now won 15 straight regular-season conference games dating back to a 75-70 home loss to Montana State on Jan. 15, 2009. Weber State will put its 10-game conference road winning streak on the line on Thursday at Northern Colorado. Weber State has not lost a conference road game since a 74-71 setback to Northern Arizona on Feb. 28, 2008. WSU became the first team in league history to go 8-0 in road league games last season. Northern Colorado is 4-0 at home this season and 13-3 overall. The Bears have won four straight. Since joining the Big Sky in 2006-07, Weber State is 2-1 vs. the Bears at the Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion. Weber State won 61-60 in 2005-06 and 82-76 last season. Northern Colorado won 55-52 in 2006-07. The teams also played an overtime thriller in Ogden last season, with Weber State pulling out an 88-84 victory."

This is a BIG game. Go Wildcats!!

I am a long time listener first time caller. We don't have very good refs in the Big Sky and I love when our students chant Big Sky refs suck. I was expecting to hear it when Bullinger fouled out last home game but it was not heard. We need anyone but the bald guy and the flat top guy in Colorado this week.

Welcome to the board, BigSkyRefsSuk. You sound like a Rome fan. If so, I'm going to like you.

I'm not usually one to gripe about the officiating, but I would agree that Bullinger got screwed on at least two of his fouls, and maybe three. And both bad calls came from the same official. Lets hope for a fairly called game on Thursday.

I really wish this was the game of the week on altitude tv, i have a hard time getting excited to watch it on computer.

Some comments from the Northern Colorado fan board:

"So, come Thursday we all will see just how good our Bears are compared to the rest of the big sky. Weber is consistently a top team and that's shown by their 18 tournament experiences. After looking over their stats and comparing the teams..

It looks as if Yahosh is going to have his hands full once again. Damian Lillard was a top recruit in the NATION two years ago and he is now the leading scorer for the cats. I have faith that Yahosh can limit Lillard's touches and make every shot he takes a tough one.

The biggest difference from these two team is 3pt% the Bears just have better shooters from the outside than Weber. That being said we need to play tight D and get rebounds on both sides of the ball..Looking at the box score from the MSU @ Weber game they dominated the Bobcats on the O glass. If we can make our open jumpers(Unlike the NAU game) and clean up the glass I'm confident that we will come away with a W...I really hope that the people of Greeley come out once again and support this team...Last game before students should be back up north.
Go Bears!
P.S. Weber guys who come on this board let me know how accurate you think this is? and maybe you guys could make a comparison from Weber's side.
Thanks"

Although the Montana road trip is usually difficult, I believe this is going to be the toughest game (and Team) the Wildcats will play the rest of the season.

But I think Weber is more than capable of winning this game, Montana State already showed us UNC can be beat, we just gotta go out and play good old fashioned Wildcat Basketball.

Thank you SWeber I have been watching this blog for about a year now. And yes I am a big Jime Rome fan. I would love to go Rome on our refs. I am one to gripe about officiating when it comes to the Big Sky Conference a few of them are just so bad.

For this game on Thursday, how can we beat Northern Colorado? Can/will we?

Me and Buzzcut, and Bob Scofield used to be drinking buddies, we used to hit the city club before and after games all the time. They used to cut me some slack, maybe Randy needs to become drinking buddies with them too.

Although I'm no expert (I only play one on this board), I would say that if Weber want's to win this game they can start by deciding to play a full 40 minutes. In the games I've watched this year, Weber has been very inconsistent, playing out of their minds some minutes, and playing absolutely terrible other minutes. If this team can put it all together for 40 full minutes, there isn't anyone in this league that could stop them.

This game is going to be won in the post. Panos, should, be able to have a big game. They have a very young and inexperienced set of bigs. Defensively, the Cats have got to limit the Bears 3pt shots. For Weber to win on their home floor Weber is going to have to shoot well, protect the ball, and play stingy defense.

Buzz Cut = Chris Rastatter... He called bengalhater on at the PSU tourny two years ago.. Hilarious!!
Baldy=Bob Scofield called out AJwildcat last year at the big sky tourney, they have since made up and smoke the peace pipe every time Bob is in town.

"They've been the early surprise of the season as far as Big Sky Conference basketball goes, and tonight Weber State gets a first-hand, up-close look at the talk of the league."

http://www.standard.net/topics/sports/2010/01/06/cats-hit-road-vs-surprising-bears

"Northern Colorado has been the surprise team of the Big Sky this season, compiling a 13-3 overall record with nonconference wins over Colorado State, Air Force, TCU and San Jose State.

With their hot start, the Bears aren't going to sneak up on anyone any more and they have the full attention of first-place Weber State. The Wildcats, who lead Northern Colorado by one game in the Big Sky standings, face the Bears in a key conference road contest tonight."

Here is what Yahosh Bonner has done against some of the top scorers he has faced this season:

Davis Baker, S. Utah (17.4 PPG): 10 points, 3-8 FGs
Anthony Johnson, Montana (16.4 PPG): 7 points, 2-10 FGs
Willie Warren, Oklahoma (18.5 PPG, preseason All-American): 4 points, 2-6 FGs
Nate Rohnert, Denver (15.7 PPG): 6 points, 3-8 FGs
Ronnie Moss, TCU (6.5 APG, MWC assists leader): 0 assists (at least 5 in every other game this season)

Hope Lillard's ready, because his shorts are booked for double occupancy tonight in Greeley. ;)

the games i have looked forward to most this year have been ones with point guards as the best or one of the top players. fun to watch lillard go against them. btw, lillard scored 30 against UM and 23 against byu's fredette who's supposed to be nba talent. we'll see i ugess. Lill had 22 and 28 against Utah St's Quayle.

BTW, I heard that UNC's Bonner and one other Bear are church members of the same religion that established Weber State in the 1800's.

Lillard:

Game 1 Utah State: 20
Game 2 UC-Santa Barbara: 16
Game 3 Seattle U: 18
Game 4 Western State: 20
Game 5 BYU: 23
Game 6 Utah: 28
Game 7 Sac*: 27
Game 8 Mt Tech: 13
Game 9 SUU: 11
Game 10 UNLV: 8
Game 11 CS Fullerton: 20
Game 12 Morehead St: 22
Game 13 Utah State: 22
Game 14 Montana State*: 12
Game 15 Montana*: 30 (career high)

Yeah Yahosh is a stud he has stepped up his game massively this year, he is probably the most improved player this year along with Montgomery... And with the religion thing I believe you are correct but also Hauns Brereton also follows the same religion he signed with us two years ago and this is his first year following his mission.

the battle of the 1-2-3 will be a great one tonight.

Beitzel, Figures, Bonner vs Lillard, Session, Hansen/Hughey

Who will guard who? Can we safely say Session will be guarding the best of the 3 for UNC? Figures scores the most...he may take him.

I'm not sure who will be defending who for the cats but they will have their hands full...UNC has a wide variety of choices who can score on our team. We are legitimately 9 men deep and just about everyone is a threat from the 3 pt line( with the exception of Proctor and Osborne). I thinks its going to be a good game but if the Bears come out hot it could be trouble for Weber..if they come out cold then its going to be a close game.
