Weber State at Nevada

Should be a real good game.

Nevada comes into the game fresh off a beat down from Oregon. I am sure they are licking their wounds and looking to rebound against Weber.

Against Cal Poly the offense showed a vast improvement in the running attack and the passing game was efficient. More of the same will be needed against Nevada. Weber's week 1 loss to SDSU looks more respectable given the Aztecs week 2 win over UCLA.

Keys to the game:
Battle in the trenches needs to be at least even for Weber to win.
Weber's defense needs to continue to stuff the run.
Weber cannot be one dimensional on offense.
Weber's secondary has to make plays.

I think all the pressure is on Nevada. I wish they didn’t get throttled by Oregon so they may take the game more casually, but Weber State has the talent to win this game for sure. They proved they can compete with FBS.

I agree to all the points of the game. I think this could be their first FBS win under Hill. I think my guess is 31-27 Weber State. I think defense and special teams contribute to the score, but offense improves...so long as they keep the Nevada defense honest.

Massey gives us a 26% chance to win with a predicted score of 28-18 for Nevada.

I really don’t know much about them. Feel free to provide a scouting report!

Nevada has, already, been up and down this season. A huge, come from behind win against Purdue and then a total butt kicking at Oregon. The Wolfpack's defense has definitely been suspect this season and their offense hasn't been exactly explosive. Their win against Purdue was pretty awesome and I was happy for them.

As for the Cats. I truly believe this is a winnable game. Weber just needs to do their thing and play a solid competitive game and they could pull off the W in Reno. We can all play the shoulda, coulda, woulda game with SDSU, but even though we ended up losing, that was a great result for the Cats and it shows our ability as a team. This team is young and raw, but very very talented. It'll be fun to see them improve each week. I like the challenge of playing SDSU and Nevada this season. These type of game will only help the Cats.

Only changes to the depth chart were at DT where Sione Lapuaho is now listed as an or with Jayden Palauni.

Nevada HC Press Conference. Has some nice things to say about Weber.

Anybody else remember this game? If you have a couple hours you can watch the entire thing here, complete with no sound. Warning, it may make you feel old.

I remember that game, I remember it better having looked through the old film. I think I cried; I used every curse word I knew, but I think I cried too-- LOL.

Okay...well, we are bit banged up, but thankfully, due to Coach Hill's awesome ability to recruit, we have the depth to keep moving forward. Hopefully, our line is getting healthy and Jenks comes out and plays an awesome game. When he first went into the game last week, he looked somewhat shaky, but quickly got it going and played a really efficient half of football. He's a really great kid and I think we will be fine with him leading our offense.

For the Cats to win in Reno, Weber needs to do a few things. Do the Cats have to be perfect to win? No, but they have to be efficient offensively, disciplined, and sound defensively. Hopefully the OC has worked out the offsides issues. The Cats can't afford drive killing penalties because of concentration issues. Personally, I'm not to worried about the secondary. Cal Poly creates so many issues playing the triple option and they have an extremely intelligent and disciplined receiver. Koski has deceptive speed, runs routes very well, and is extremely experienced. It is too bad that he doesn't play for a program that throws the ball more. And since Cal Poly runs the ball so much, it forces our defense to play man to man and on an island. That can be hard for inexperienced and young DBs. But, they are growing up quick and will only get better as the season moves on.

My hope is they can stay healthy in this game. This is especially true with Jenks. If he runs any, he'd better be well prepped to do it smartly and slide. No giving up his body, even at the goal line.

I honestly think the false starts were caused by Constantine going to a hard count. Most of the penalties were against one player and it should be something that is corrected by game three or the depth chart may need some adjusting.

I do think Jenks will be just fine this game with a full weeks worth of QB1 reps. I presume Weisser is the back up this week. Hope we don't need to see him.

I was very impressed with the young secondary against SDSU. I thought they regressed a little in the Cal Poly game, though as you pointed out, it is a difficult scheme to play against. Mostly I was concerned that they played 10 yards off the receiver and then took poor angles to the ball carrier a few times.

I like our chances tomorrow if we play solid defense and the offense can run the ball. Should be a good game.
