Weber State/Bye Week

Going into this week following a bye week, should get some players back to 100%. Heard the team was in only helmets last week for two days and did 100 yard jogs Thursday Friday. Really not sure why they were running, to me they should have at least had an extra day off from being on their feet.

Going into this week what do you guys see happening? I see the Bears coming back with a W (24-14) Although Weber is coming off their first win of the season and probably have some momentum going into this game.

Fortunately for the Bears their schedule lined up for them to finish off the season with games against the three teams that are arguably the only teams worse than they are and Weber State is one of those teams. UNC should win this on talent alone, but poor coaching will probably make this game closer than it should be. Bears win 31-28.

I don't see why you are SOOOO confident on UNC having such superior talent to WSU, but to each his own I guess. The only question I have is will the Sugar Bears be making this trip? As far as cheerleader rankings go, I would put the Sugar Bears in the top half of the Big Sky. At least in good years. :thumb:

The Bears have some of the most superior talent on both sides of the ball in the Big Sky, coaching just holds the team back

I am a realistic WSU fan and as such I would NEVER claim that any team in the bottom half of the conference (such as WSU & UNC) has SUPERIOR talent to most of the league....damn you guys are funny or just high.

Nope. I agree, we have the talent to beat most teams in the conference, but poor coaching might hold us back from getting the W. Besides, Weber wears purple...'nuff said.

There is a difference between having talent to beat most teams in the Big Sky and having the "most superior talent" in the Big Sky. I think our players are good enough to beat most teams in the Big Sky but in no way are our players in the top tier of the Big Sky (at least there is no evidence that tells me we are in the top tier talent wise).

I never said UNC doesn't have talent, they do. But I wouldn't say they have superior talent in relation to the rest of the Big Sky. Saturday I will get to see your talented players in person and since UNC will be the 12th different Big Sky team I will have seen play this year I should have a pretty good grasp on talent levels in the Big Sky.

Well I've seen portions of a couple of Weber State games this year and I have friends and family in the SLC area, including a former Weber State player. All of whom have told me that the issue with Weber State this season isn't the coaching but the talent. So while all of us Bears fans agree that our team has not given us much to write home about, most of us would agree that it is not an issue of talent, but a serious issue with coaching. It's pretty much by talent alone that UNC has managed to win a couple of games this year and unquestionably it's the poor coaching that has led to most of the losses. And that is why I say that UNC should win by talent alone. Of course I could be proved completely wrong. It's been known to happen.

Now if you will excuse me, I have to get over to the dispensary to pick up some edibles for the weekend.

Totally agree and was my original point. ANY team in the bottom half of the Conference should NEVER claim to have superior talent to MOST of the Big Sky. WSU is in the bottom half just like UNC. WSU's talent level IS NOT SUPERIOR to MOST of the Big Sky. But neither is UNC's talent. In WSU's case hopefully we have our Coaching issues sorted out.

The thing is, UNC has no business being in the bottom half, the team should be 7 and 3 - 8 and 2 at best, but coaching and preparations by the coaches has screwed the bears this season. The games they have lost have been close, very close, and all should have been won. Like 303bear said, the team has as much talent as anyone and in reality its the coaching that's holding them behind the rest of the upper tier schools. COLLINS CANT GET IT DONE!! Talent is the only thing this team has.

Did you watch any of these games, or even look at the box scores? 46-7, 38-13 and 46-12 are not "very close," they're blowouts against teams that had far superior talent. Honestly, we were lucky to be as close to EWU as we were, the only games we lost where you can claim we should have won are UNLV and Sac State, which makes us a 5-4 team AT BEST. With a pair of close wins and a pair of close losses, 3-6 is probably about where we should be.

Good game, but I stand by my statement that NO team in the bottom half of the Big Sky has "Superior"talent. Weber and UNC included.
