Weber State game

Coach Hayford is a great coach. He will have them ready. I bet we come out strong, defend and hit a bunch of threes. Coach has got all this talent so I believe he knows what buttons to push. If they lose, which I doubt, then I may join all you doubters. But until then I remain a believer in Coach.

Series History: Weber State holds a 41-20 all-time series advantage over Eastern Washington and the ‘Cats have won three straight and eight of the last nine meetings against the Eagles.
In games played in Cheney the series is tied 14-14 but Weber State has won the last four times at Reese Court.

I don't see this trend ending this season.
WSU is 4-3 with their biggest win @ Dayton
EWU is 2-8 with their biggest win at home against Cal-State Fullerton.

Both teams are well coached but I think WSU has more overall talent. :twocents:

I think we win. We can really shoot the 3 ball.

Lol, against UC Davis you were 17-41 from 3, and 3-19 from 2. This shouldn't even be close. Hayfords looking like a Flop, & that sucks for the Sky. If Chiv plays I don't know if that helps at all, that's all you guys need is more bad 3's chucked up.

How on earth do you lose to Davis by 22? Who knows, maybe Chiverton debuts well tonight, and sends Weber to Portland 0-1 to start conference play.

Don't be a hater cuz we have a better coach than u. Hayford can and will coach circles around your coach and the rest in the league. Not even close. His career record is really good. We've just had some bad luck.

We haven't had a good basketball team since...well....I guess 2003 and 2004 were good years. We couldn't even win when Stuckey was here...

WSU has a great b-ball program and a great coach, hopefully Hayford will bring us to the promise land, he has the background to get us there. I'm not sold on our players yet, we will see. The Big Sky is not very good this year and we are 2-8. Its all about conference play and our first 3 games will be telling. Hopefully we pull out a win, but Weber is always tough.

And how many Big sky Coach of the years has your Coach won? oh yes ZERO :dunce:

Im really like your faith in your team. I think that is cool, but you need to be realistic too. I like EWU and hope they do well, but looking at the season so far its not looking good. I predicted EWU to finish 4th in the preseason. To say that your coach would coach circles around ours is silly. Coach Rahe came into Weber State where we were dead last in the conference in 2006. In 2007 Weber State won Big Sky confernce. That was after he pretty much kicked the majority of the players off the team and brought in a bunch of no name JC guys late in the process. No dissing Hayford, but he has not done much IMHO. As for tonight in college basketball anyone can win on any night especially at home, but after we lost a tough game to BYU I think we come out angry and really take it to EWU. If EWU is lighting it up from downtown it could be tough for my wildcats. Weber State defends the 3 point shot very well and we have very good mix of inside out game. I think our size inside and our experience and depth wear EWU down. I see us winning by 12-17 points. I hope Im right. :) Go Cats. Go Eagles too after tonightt. I have been to Cheeny. I loved the area. :)

Well I just watched the game we played against UC Davis and it was an eyesore on both ends of the floor, but especially offense. No rhythm, not much movement and prayers for threes. Eagles got down early and never established anything offensively besides pass around until the semi-open three. It was pathetic. The coaching was terrible in my book that game because they never got anything going inside when that is our strength. We have a couple big-bangers that can board and score but the guards seem to love to take low percentage shots. But yeah they need to get into the lane and take higher percentage shots which would allow for more trips to the foul line and offensive boards, rather than chucking up prayers all day. Seriously though, the Davis game was one of the worst basketball games I have ever seen outside of high school. 3 2-pointers were scored...that is not good coaching. Anywho I don't see the eagles winning unless they get the ball to their playmakers (Jois and Seiferth) inside and Crosgile getting into the lane instead of playing hot potato on the perimeter. Of course having Chiv back would help enormously but no one has any idea what his situation with the team is.

Good first half. Only disappointed in being up 7 with a chance to hold ball for last shot and we jack it Weber scores and now down 9!

66-46 and a couple times Larry Weir (first time I've heard him do bball) said the same thing I watched last game against Davis "Eagles dribble up the floor, and no one is moving, except maybe Jois, 4 Eagles are standing around." Anyone in the know have an inkling of what offense Hayford tries to run? It's clearly not any variation of motion. I'm just at a loss here. It's hard to watch and listen to the Eagles bball team right now. And that's not even talking about their lackluster transition defense.

Well, I sure was wrong. My faith appears to be for not. We just are not a good team. No rythem on offensive and no effort on defense. Another opponent shot nearly 50% on us. Maybe this D3 to D1 transition is harder than I originally thought. I hope we get better but not so sure that we have the talent or coaching at this point.

Everyone appreciates your faith, but do you even watch the games? You seem to just make really positive claims about coaching and the Eags which is awesome. But I've played and watched basketball for a long time and what I'm watching is nothing to ra-ra about. Let's recruit some stateside ballers perhaps?

You may be right. Seeing the comments, the stats and the results I am leaning towards everyone's thinking. I know we are young, but we are not even competitive at this point. I am afraid that come next year and the year after we will merely be older and still not competitive. This recruiting class was supposed to be really good with the big transfers from other D1 programs and kids with international experience, but it hasn't gelled. Is it the talent? Coaching? Or both?
