Weber State game

I agree with the youth. And Chiv not being with the team is kind of weird as I haven't heard of anyone taking this long of a break from a scholarship..but I definitely have heard what he's going through, and that's hard to get over. But look at the Chiefs, their teammate shot himself and they played days later. Teammates are family, but whatever Chiv is going through must be tough...I can't blame him. I just want to know the ID of EWU's offense. I've been watching a lot of PAC 12 ball and teams ball screen to get their best players open. Teams have a good wing? Bring a big guy to screen bringing a weird switch on an athletic guy vs. a big goof and a small guy vs. an inside presence. Two scoring options: wing drives/shoots (or gets fouled) on big guy switch or passes it to big guy on a guard. It seems pretty easy to me, but all it takes is watching PAC 12 games and how they move. I watch Eastern and they stay in place and seem to be afraid to screen bigger guys. Hell just get in the way and if Venky can hit a 15 footer then we need to screen for him. But I'm not a coach. They look bad. They are young, but the offense needs to improve. Once they establish a rhythm on O, then they should worry about D. But you just can't get blown out by a 1-6 team

It was a hard game to watch - missed the start but caught most of it. The other team seemed quicker and better organised. I think you have something there regarding the lack of screening.
Still it's not all doom and gloom - Weber have a strong team and we are young and inexperienced. That will take time. Still... I expected more from the older players.
Is it a lack of gelling with the younger players? I don't know what it is but something is a little off.
But...as I said earlier - Weber is a strong team and hopefully by the time we meet them second time round we will be stronger, more experienced and have better teamwork.
This process does take time and I believe we do have the talent and the coaching staff - just not gelling ....YET!

At least we have some room to improve. I think we will begin to play better, our last 2 games have been ugly, but we are young and will hopefully start to gel. Weber and Montana are the 2 best teams in the conference this year and they have been the past few years. As bad as we have looked, I think we will begin to play better and win some games. We need to finish in the top 6 to have a shot in the conf. tourney, then...anything can happen.

Go Eags!
