Weber State to pick up Jake Heaps?

I know, I know.. this is mostly just for the humor of it, but I think he is a outstanding QB and someone that would fit in well at WSU. Maybe JLS will get him to come to WSU. It actually could work; he would have the ability to play right away (at least I think so, although shady in this area, I know you can't come from FBS to FCS for your senior year), although it would be in his favor to red-shirt, and wait out Hoke.(Clearly this wouldn't happen, he could have waited out Nelson in Provo :blah: :blah: ) Then in two years he could even more so help JLS and the Wildcats to get a National Championship. He could also return to Provo next year and get a Win agaist them, as a Wildcat! :-D

You need to have 2 years of eligibility and 2 years left on your 5-year clock (plus meet additional criteria) for the FBS to FCS transfer.

Heaps is a sophmore with a redshirt year still available. He would qualify but all the talk I am hearing on sports radio is he wants to go to a bigger school, pac12 probably.

Yea, lets go after Jake Heaps and then lets get Jimmy Barnes to be his QB coach
Now thats some funny shizz right there.
We don't want Jake Heaps, in fact I wouldn't trade Mike Hoke for any other QB in the state. :thumb:

Hoke is going to tear it up next year, fix the left side of the O line and he'll be fine. Imagine a 100% healthy Hoke.....now THAT is something to think about

A 100 % healthy team and this group will be awesome..... Fast healing to Hoke, Hinds, McClain and the rest...Looking forward to a great year next year!

Agreed. Hoke's a bull who makes good decisions. Heaps is a pansy who panics.

Not a bad article. Nice find catfan!! If Jake Heaps were to transfer to Weber, he would have to sit a year. There is noway in HELL that Hoke would backup anyone. Hoke, in my opinion, and I'm not saying this with purple shades on, will be an automatic candidate for the Payton award next season. In John L's system, Hoke, will only look and get a lot better. He wasn't able to pass as much as he might have wanted to. Mac was a rush first coach, whereas, Smith tends to favor the passing game. Yes, Tuckett is going to see a lot of time still (if he isn't the starting RB next year, YIKES). No matter, Hoke, is going to blossom next year and lead the Cats to one hell of an impressive season. Gotta replace Turner and Oram (I'm thinking Land is automatic at one spot and maybe Turner at the other), but once that happens, I'm thinking Hoke will have the protection he needs to be successful.

Heaps, if he goes the FCS route -could transfer to Ogden, but I'd recommend he sit out a year- should go to SUU. They are looking for a new QB to replace the graduating Sorenson, and in Ed Lambs system, Heaps would blossom. Heaps is thinking he is a lot better than what he really is. If he goes to a BCS school, he will never get to play.

Speaking of possible O-line replacements, has anybody watched Mike Baker closely? Does he have a legit shot at any playing time. I remember him being a real beastly recruit out of Northridge High. Or did they convert him to the defensive side of the ball? He's listed as a DE on the roster.
