I am excited for this game! How that others feel the same way. Look for Lillard and Session to come up pick again. Yesterday was nice to see alot of different players nail the 3 ball. I hope more people show up for this game, and the fan base keeps growing! GAME DAY!!

WSU's Saturday night game against the Eagles of EWU will be the 55th all-time meeting; overall WSU is 35-19 vs the Eagles, 24-3 in Ogden, 11-16 in Cheney, WA. EWU joined the Big Sky in 1987.

EWU's Kirk Earlywine in his 3rd year is 29-50 overall and 14-24 in Big Sky play. Coach E led his teams both to a 6-10 record in the Big Sky the past two seasons and neither team made the Big Sky Tourney despite last season's 6-2 start. Earlywine spent 7 years at Weber as an assistant during the Cravens era (2000-2006).

Preseason Polls
The Big Sky preseason polls had PSU and EWU picked to finish 3rd and 8th respectively in both polls. Lindy's College Basketball magazine picked PSU 4th and EWU 6th while Athlon Sports magazine went with PSU 2nd and EWU 7th.

Eastern Washington
Lindy's: Now is the time for the Eagles to take a step forward. It's year three in coach Kirk Earlywine's tenure in Cheney, and he has the players to make a statement. Three starters return, including two of the conferences's best in guard Benny Valentine, a 5-7 blur who was EWU's top scorer last year, and 6-9 post Brandon Moore, who led the club in rebounding. Big power forward Mark Dunn is a another returning starter. Add a large and talented recruiting class and on paper, this should be the year the Eagles get a least into the conference tournament, something they haven't done the past three seasons.

Athlon Sports: The Eagles failed to take as big a step as third-year coach Kirk Earlywine had hoped last winter, mainly because of chemistry problems resulting from the midseason addition of a couple of players who had been academically ineligible. Both are gone. This year's team has a chance to build around one of the Big Sky's top point guards in senior Benny Valentine (15.1 ppg). But to make any great strides, the Eagles will need to find help for 6'9" senior center Brandon Moore (11.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg) on the low blocks.

Probable EWU Starters
C-45 Brandon Moore 6-9 250 Sr Graham, WA (8.9 ppg, 7.6 rpg)
F-42 Mark Dunn 6-8 270 Sr Trafalgar, IN (12.7 ppg, 4.6 rpg, .459 3P%)
G-2 Jeffrey Forbes 5-10 170 Fr Federal Way, WA (9.3 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.5 spg, .281 3P%)
G-1 Glen Dean 5-10 170 Fr Seattle, WA (12.1 ppg, 3.8 apg, 2.4 rpg, 1.0 spg, .449 3P%)
G-14 Gary Gibson 6-1 175 Sr Windsor, ON (2.0 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.9 apg, .111 3P%)

Do not look at Eastern's record. Earlywine has a couple new players that are pretty dang talented and will be the anchor for the Eagles over the next few years (forbes, Dean, and Alden). The Eagles haven't been exactly consistent this season, but when they play together it opens up their motion offense (kinda similar for us Wildcat fans) and creates multiple scoring options for a team that has a number of scoring threats. I for one, hope the Dee is rockin tonight. The team needs to play aggressive and take the ball right to the basket.

Personally, I think the Dee will have more fans show up. Its a saturday night and the weather is looking somewhat promising. Also, a lot of people aren't aware of the friday/saturday schedule. High school sports probably took 1K or 2K away from last nights game, on top of weather issues, and other friday night activities, my parents, long time season tkt holders, went to an Opera (I know...WTF). I'm thinking 7 or 8 tonight... I'D LOVE 12!!

It looks like I won't be there. My girlfriend is not feeling well and with the snow coming down it would be hard for me to get a ride down there.

I hate to sound like a downer, but I dont think our attendance tonight will be over 5,500, the fact that nobody else played yesterday, and it being Jazz Bear night brought fans out to watch, the problem with Weber is that most of thier fan base are "fickle fans" who would rather stay home to watch the Jazz or stay home because its raining or snowing, Weber has diehards like us who go no matter what, but the majority of Weber's fans are of the fickle kind. And its very sad.
