Weber State vs Idaho State

Hoping Weber State can end off the home part of the schedule with a win.

Go Wildcats!

Every time the Wildcats get close, Idaho State goes on a 10-0 run. This is hard to watch...

So many times this year, they play from behind and can never retake a lead...and then give up big runs. It makes me think they have a confidence issue and don’t have a great team concept. Sad way for the seniors to go out. Twenty losses is pretty much guaranteed now. Wonder what the excuses Rahe will depend on today? First season I didn’t make it to one home game. Watched them on internet or TV. I just don’t have the interest to pay to watch the Rahe style of play and apathy.

Scariest thing is the team looks to have less to work with next year.

Glad baseball is around the corner. Hopefully the Cubs can keep it interesting until Wildcat Football starts up.

Well that was a new low. And good hell Randy, it takes the crowd chanting Morris for you to put the kid into a game you had no chance left at winning. Total disrespect.

It's sure seemed that way in terms of not being able to re-take a lead. Do you think this could be the final straw for Randy? Losing in the final home game of the season by double digits to an Idaho State team who had lost 12 games in a row.

Hope the Cubs can do something for you. Some might say it doesn't look promising, but some may give Ross a chance to be a decent skipper.

Unless someone has 1.6 million to buy out Randy he is ours for four more seasons. If you had an employee that their performance was declining for 5 years, they made excuses and they were vastly over paid. You would likely find a way to cut ties. I'm not sure we can pull it off.

Idaho States season was a success. They just won their bowl game and spoiled our senior night.

The right strategy is to quit complaining on the forum. Continue to say Rahe is the greatest coach in program history and convince another school to “steal” him! If we keep publicly ripping apart Rahe, no one else will want him. He’s a coach that’s lost his way. Can’t recruit program players because there is no program. Just get your shots off and it’ll be cool. Rahe didn’t kill Weber...... selfish basketball killed Weber. I’m not sure who sold Rahe on the Golden State way, but teams adjusted to a new style of play..... Weber didn’t! It’s going to take 2-3 seasons to recover from this. It’s going to get worse before it gets better.

Wish I didn’t take the time to watch that. I don’t watch a ton of WSU basketball typically but figured I’d tune in for ISU. The effort on defense was an abomination. ISU got layups at will and if they happened to miss, they would get the rebound. The possession where ISU had 4-5 straight offensive rebounds was the end of the game. How can you possibly play so lazily on senior night vs your rival??? Disgraceful.

Standard WSU basketball on offense. Guys taking turns going 1 on 1.

What an awful brand of basketball.

Agree with WeberGrad02. There is too much money and too many years to buy out. There are probably at least two more years of the four left before a possible buyout could happen. Two more years of decline may make a recovery take even longer. I still think the facilities and resources will be able to help mitigate the current decline, but a good coach with enthusiasm will definitely be needed.

I think Ross will be okay, but starting pitching staff is not great and are older. The owner is also cheap, so I am not expecting too much. Still excited for spring and baseball! Have a good one.

What an embarrassment! First we get completely abused inside by smaller players, forget to box out, and then to cap off a horrible season, the crowd has to starting chanting Morris, because Rahe is completely clueless and can’t understand why it would be a good thing to put him in. He had no intentions of putting him in! Maybe he should be playing him more often, because it isn’t working! Try something different Rahe! Give someone else a shot beside your 6 foot nothing, non shooters. Furthermore, his small ball method doesn’t work. Get some length on the wings. We have way two many under 6’3” players without range. Not only does it make it hard to shoot it over the defenders, we can’t stop them on defense and get a rebound. If he had 5 Harding’s, then sure, play small ball.
The worst part of this whole thing is we have nothing for next year! The cupboards are bare! How can you expect to compete when you recruit players, they play one year, you shuffle the deck, then start over. Then the ones you do keep aren’t developed properly and never improve! Very few improve! John has been the same player for 4 years, absolutely no development. Drive and shoot! Tunnel vision. No court vision! No passes! I could go down the list of players and point out the lack of development!
We will be lucky to win 6 games next year!

I have to agree with Big T. I too think that the first place to start is by getting rid of a couple of assistants. From what I have been seeing is that he has been heavily depending on Merrick and Daniels and quite frankly I do not think they understand the game like they put on. David Merrick needs to look for a job with some high school girls basketball team and hope that he cannot make them any worse than they already are. From what I hear he has been one to bring in some of these recruits and does not know how to help them grow as players. He needs to be the first to go. I watch some of the other big sky schools play deep in their benches and seem to press and run up and down the floor. Weber plays 6 or 7 maybe eight if lucky and then we wonder why Jerrick and players get hurt all the time and they are sore. Play more people and save the health of your players.

Totally agree. Rahe should have started Morris on senior night. Kid works his butt off and Rahe is too dense to reward that. Not like they were playing for the title. It would be nice to see a selfless player get more minutes. Not hard to see why the program is in decline or why players leave in droves. Next year looks bad. I’d rather see a team of scrappers than a bunch of players looking to shoot first.

I have ran into Morris on several occasions and I so badly wanted to ask him what Issues does Randy Rahe have with a player over 6’3” with a large wingspan. In other words, what is Randy’s problem with Morris? I’ve heard he wasn’t as good as others in practice. I’ve heard his defense wasn’t good enough. My response to that! You never know how good a player is until you give him minutes in a real game! Some of the best players in all sports didn’t show well in practice. Steve Young was told he would never be good enough to play QB for BYU, Ty Detmer was 3rd string and didn’t have as good of arm as the other QB’s. Do I need to remind everyone what happened when the bright lights came on and they had to perform in a game, not practice! Well we all know! My point is, how do you know a guy isn’t good enough if you never put them out there when it counts! We have been horrible for the last season and a half! Horrible defense, no rebounding, loss after loss, and yet he never gave a senior, 6’7, long player in the game to see what he could do! It took the crowd with 1 minute left on senior night chanting his name just to sniff the court for 45 seconds. If it isn’t working try something else.

So, why didn't you just ask him? He is a nice and approachable kid. I'm sure that he would talk to you.

How well do you know him old runner. Sounds like you spend a lot a time with the team and are pretty close to the players and coaches. Have you talked to Morris before and what do you think the kid would say? The kid seems pretty humble.

I really did want to ask, but I didn’t want to put him in an awkward position. I don’t know him enough to ask that question. It’s just one I would have loved to ask him. Because it seems he has been in Randy’s dog house his entire career. I sure would like to know! I wish I knew his Dad or something so I could get the real story.

I think you are right BigT. I too think that would put the kid in a hard position. But I too would love to know his answer.

Wouldn’t it be a conversation changer if we went on a run and won the tourney? It’s wide open this year! Not probable, but cool! I’d be happy with 2 or 3 upsets!
