“This is where I grew up. I used to come to Weber State and watch games, I’d watch high school state games with my dad all the time. I always wanted to play here and play in front of these fans. It’s that sense of just being home, of community,” Morris told the Standard-Examiner before the 2019-20 season.

“I had people come up to me and tell me ‘hey, you could go somewhere else and play.’ But this is home to me ... Division I was my ultimate goal. I wanted to experience that no matter what.”

This.
It's about unheard of now days; something sorely missing from both the school's and player's interest. This is an example of a huge part of the overall dwindling interest in WSU basketball. I have no idea how "B-Mo"'s talent stacks up to scholarship players or the rest of the BSC, I only know it's been fun to see the kid get some occasional garbage minutes. From what I remember, he's done fine in those limited minutes. I gotta say, though, it sure is fun watching six-foot-nuthin' starters not defend, pass or rebound, but jack up a lot of 3's.

Reading the article about Morris makes me like him even more and dislike Randy and his coaching style even more. He says right in the article, he has a smooth shooting stroke (which I have noticed in warm ups for years), they use him in practice to prepare for the other teams best shooters and he still seems to make the shot every time! What!!!!!! So let me get this straight, you focus on him in practice because of his smooth shooting stroke and he still makes it? So instead of giving a long smooth shooting player minutes, you send out short guy after short guy with hideous shots? WOW Brilliant!
I’ve played and coached a lot of basketball and that’s the type of player you put in a game to get buckets. I watch every player shoot in warmups. He does have a smooth stroke, precisely why I don’t get it. There are three other Guards given minutes that have simply horrible form. John, Barnes, and Gallupo. Thanks for posting the article! It has confirmed my opinions on the matter.

I don't get the love affair with Morris, he's not the answer. There's a reason why he's a walk on, and he's happy to fill that role on the team. I would assume Rahe knows exactly what he can and can't do, if he really dominated in practice would see more of him in the game. Of course Coach is going to speak highly of his seniors, what did you expect him to say?

That said you all have other valid points about the guards. I'd prefer to see more of Barnes, he hasn't shot well but his rebounding and defense has been pretty good. It all went down hill when Gittens was counciled out of the program.

I don’t think anyone is saying he is the answer and Morris would be first to say that he is not the answer. So what your saying is that Rahe really does not mean any of those words he says in the paper? It is just because he is a senior? Shame on him then. I would have a hard time playing for a coach that says that. Maybe that might be why there are players who leave every year. Whether the kid gets to play or not he seems to have respect from other players and to me that is a leader

wsucatfan! Did I say Morris was the answer? Try reading the posts I have posted! My point is that our problem is the head coach. Morris is just example of that! Barnes can’t shoot! He couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. As far as valid points? Did you actually have any? Gittens is your major point? He didn’t do much here either and you proved my point, Rahe pushed him out the revolving door that is WSU basketball! I have been a wildcat fan my whole life. I’m a graduate of Weber State, I donate to the program! In other words I care about the school and the teams, I expect more! We play in the Big Sky. We have the best facilities, we have alumni who play professionally. If you can’t get recruit the right players and develop in our program you shouldn’t be the coach! Those are valid points!!!

Amen to that. Weber State was out of the season title chase. Starting Morris for Senior night would have been a nice reward to a selfless player, but heaven forfend Rahe take any minutes away from one of his selfish players he recruited so they can play lazy D and jack up 3s.

It’s highly likely Weber State will suck something awful next year, even more than this 20 loss team. I would rather see players with less raw talent who play a team concept and give it their all every game then skilled players who worry about their minutes and number of shots and play el matador defense.

Nothing like watching a team down 14 points with four minutes left, walk the ball slowly up the court and then weave at the three point line for 20 seconds, and heave up a highly contested 3 point shot. If by chance they do make the shot, they don’t bother putting on a press...ever.

Ask any current or former Weber State player that has played with the kid and they will tell you he is good enough to contribute on this team and it was evident on Monday when his teammates were telling the crowd to chant louder. That’s an obvious sign that there is a disconnect between the coaches and the players. From what I’ve heard the kid has been treated unfairly just like a lot of guys that have come through this program but from the article it seems he has managed to handle it with a lot of maturity. Of course he isn’t the savior but he is good enough If not better than some of the players we are putting out there now. Anyone who trusts these coaches evaluation of talent is naive and the results are speaking for themselves. Coach Rahe has never been the one to bring talent here and the people that did have all moved on.

The problem is even if Rahe had a team of players like you mentioned, HIS system isn't going to support those types of qualities. I can-- and have-- supported and watched with interest bad teams in past years because although the player (or even coaching ability) might not have been that great, the game was still played in a way that I think it should be and was simply more entertaining. It's gotten to the point I just can't anymore. As bad as it still was last year, I still got some enjoyment out of watching a local kid in Chapman. Even though I never thought he was played properly and could have made a bigger impact on the team, it was still fun watching him play.
