Weird...when was this started? Why was no one at Weber notified? What is its name?
I'm guessing it was created by SUU and is not recognized by Weber. Why? Who knows? I've always believed that traveling trophies are good things. It gives your team something to play for. Creates pride at the institution and gets the student body excited for something. Also, it is another marketing tactic. But, as Weber fans we all know how committed the marketing guru is to doing his job. All you have to do is look at the signs on campus that announce, "FREE FOOTBALL." No other information. Game times and dates would probably be a little helpful. But, that's crazy?! Why would we want to tell prospective fans times and dates to games. Crazy talk...they will just MAGICALLY appear. Oh, also, nice to see that the posters are out. Probably would have been nice to get them out earlier, to help generate excitement and dare I say, might, get some people interested in purchasing season tickets? Hmmm...building a fan base takes planning and dare I say it, actual WORK. Yet, they don't need revenue or to generate interest. I guess they have a money tree or a goose that lays golden eggs. Their budget seemingly appears every year with very little accountability to making it grow and giving the department more to work with. Fans?? Who wants those...they make the job hard. It would make employees more accountable. Just Enough!!
At one time, hard to believe, there was a traveling trophy between Weber and ISU (there was also one between Weber and USU, but that is a little one-sided, since we have only beaten the Aggies once in football), but regrettably, like most things, Weber didn't put any effort into keeping it going and it has gone by the wayside (that might be the case since ISU has only beaten Weber three times since the mid 80s; please see why the USU vs. Weber trophy is gone).
