Weber @ SUU

A Beehive Bowl victory on the road. Seems like the home team has not won in a while. I knew SUU would play tough. A win on the road is tough against a rival, so hats off to Weber State!

Offense is picking it up. I would like to see them put games away, but Constantine took pretty good care of the ball...fumbled again, but got it back.

Big game at Pocatello next week. Go Wildcats! Bring home a trophy!

My .02
Weber took care of business for the fifth straight win. Not pretty, but a win. I never felt the game was in doubt after the first quarter. SUU is outclassed this year by most of the Big Sky.

Offense - B
Mo Cannon started for the first time this year on the O-line. Not sure if that was a difference maker, but our O-line was dominant. Jake Constantine had more time in the pocket than any other game this year. Josh Davis had several runs where he was untouched into the secondary. This game was won in the trenches. Unfortunately, we still saw a turnover and a bad QB exchange under center, That stuff will cost us eventually. The interception should never have been thrown. He was not under duress and had time to make better decisions with the ball. We seem to be gelling as an offense and winning time of possession.

Defense - B
Defense was fairly solid except for the long gains. Need to clean up a few of the penalties, especially the late hit out of bounds. Overall, we gave up too many yards but took the ball away on downs several times. 4 sacks on the night, I felt like we kept the QBs (all three of them) contained. We lost the turnover battle and had no takeaways, but it didn't seem to matter.

Special Teams - C
Another kick return for a TD allowed and another fumbled punt. Not sure why we have regressed some here. Trey Tuttle looked better this game even though he missed the one filed goal attempt following a bad call by the referees on the previous attempt. Never seen that called ever before. Negated a very good field goal.

It was interesting to see Mo Cannon in there. I was starting to think he was redshirting. Maybe he still could? I think that was his first game action of the year. It was a great game for the line and they will need a repeat performance this week.

Also curious why Kevin Smith hasn’t played this year and David Jones has only a few carries. I don’t think Josh Davis is built to touch the ball 40 times in a game. We need to keep him fresh.

Kevin Smith has been injured I believe. David Jones has played very sparingly. This is probably as much about Josh Davis emerging and the RB depth being pretty good even with the injuries.

Josh Davis does need to be used less. Really need to get Treshawn Garrett healthy for the playoff run.

Kevin Smith is still not ready, but could be used in the playoffs and still use his redshirt. Jones is now playing cornerback. We really havent seen Kris Jackson for quite some time, so maybe he is now redshirting after all? The roster from the first game to now is quite different. Ames and Child seems to have fallen off the earth, and havent seen the field for some time.
