Weber vs EWU

38-36 Eastern Washington on top at half time. Richardson is looking good so far

Ryan is playing fantastic ball for Weber. WSU is there just needs a strong 2nd half.

Senglin had a good stat line. But his careless play cost us the game. We played them so well for 38 minutes. Four careless possessions was the difference between a win and a loss. Not many teams will come out of Cheney with a W and we had a very good opportunity,

Senglin's last 5 possessions

charge (he must lead the nation in charges)
blocked driving to the basket with no control
turnover (pass)
blocked driving to the basket hoping for a foul on the road in the last few minutes
missed shot

This does not include him losing the ball and having to call quick timeout after regaining possession laying on the court. Dude is pressing WAY TOO HARD... Hard to watch him this season.

I blame this loss on coaching. Instead of finishing strong and playing to win, the Cats played not to lose and lost. I'm not sure why Senglin played so selfishly at the end. Really bad possessions by the Cats and our point guard. He isn't Berry. That game was ours. Weber should have left Cheney with a W. By the way Bolomboy is not going to the league. He is soft and seems lost. I'm not a fan right now.

Your team played real good...Senglin only had 3 to and 7 a.....not a bad line, besides who are you going to replace him with??? Richardson almost doubled his season total for points....without Richardson the game is not close....I think you guys got a damn good effort out of your guys...don't go too hard on them, this was probably your second best game this year...

I thought it was a great effort! Let one get away! I don't get why we are so poor inside the paint! Funny when you're Freshman shows the most confidence!

Agree on Senglin, but it's feast or famine! We cheer his moxy when he hits the game winning dagger shot...... Have to take the bad with the good!

Out rebounded 42-28; indicative of a very poor effort. Why bother playing sound D if you're not willing to rebound? Johnson-Coston, Hill, Golden, Hajek combine for 5 rebounds. Disgusting.

Stateman -I like the fact that you add your opinions to other Big sky teams forums. But this loss really sucks. Let me explain the feeling in a way that only someone from Sac could understand. Lets say you are at a club and having an exceptionally good night. There is an extremely hot, rich girl from Granite Bay hanging all over you all night long. You are on top of your game. Your buddies are noticing giving you high fives, your wildest dreams are about to come true. Right before last call, you get a little careless and take a few shots too many. You black out and next thing you know you wake up in a double wide in Rio Linda next to some girl missing half her teeth. Not sure if you can relate Stateman but this loss sucks pretty bad.

Surprisingly good effort in Cheney, Weber shot and played relatively well. The entire team sure seems to have more confidence against a conference foe. WeberSki and Tal pretty much called what I thought cost them a great chance to steal a great W. Will Senglin learn? Is he being taught? He had a great stat line but just forces things when he doesn't need to and in this case, at the most inopportune time. Richardson shot lights out, so why is coach going to Golden in the end? Another head-scratcher: Harvey is hitting nearly everything he throws up, so why is he standing in the corner without a defender within 6 feet of him late in the game? Again late, why is Weber sending Harvey to the line? Force the inbound to a worse FT shooter. I'd sure like to see this team be more competitive rebounding, with Joel leading the way. Still, a better showing than I expected, I hope they continue to play as competitively.

Don't forget being outscored in the paint 40-20! Important to not get giddy about the score..... Richardson's shooting should've won the game for Weber. I'm not sure why he didn't get in the game in the 2nd half until there was 13 minutes left in the half! Golden must have pictures on Rahe because coach feeds him minutes like candy! Our presence inside is just weak! Bolomboy is suppose to be the best player by far in the BSC. It's not that he's soft, he's playing out of position and it's killing him!

A more veteran team would have pulled that one out..., and the more veteran team did. However, I was very pleased to see us in a position to win with just minutes to play. Playing so many fr, so, and jrs, it bodes well for us in the future.

Bring on them Ida Hos.

Sorry olds..... I disagree! Youth is what kept us in the game with Richardson shooting like it was his gym! I think we didn't bring our best lineup to the court! We're lucky Rahe didn't redshirt Richardson too! We didn't get our butts kicked in the paint because we were young.... We got our butts kicked because their bigs wanted it more! Why do we continue to roll out Hill, Golden and Coston if they don't show up on the court? I do agree we should've won the game!

Great game! I thought we showed up and had the chance to leave with a win! I thought we looked bad in the paint! To get outscored and out rebounded by the margins that we did made it clear that we are like Charmin inside!

Olds, didn't you tell us that Rahe wanted a smaller lineup to match up against EWU? He got out coached in this one, we got abused outside AND inside! I love Bolomboy but he looked nothing like the defensive player of the year! Sad that he took 7 shots tonight and Senglin took 17..... Which one was the BSC preseason player of the year? It was awesome that Senglin led us in rebounding! I don't know who was responsible for Harvey tonight, but how many open shots did the guy have? Olds could've made some of those 3's!!! :wtf:

Sigh.... In some ways we played better than I thought but in other was it was the same sad story. Goes without saying Richardson looked great. Seglin had some positives but they were all nixed with bad plays. On paper he's putting up decent numbers but we all know we're not seeing the promise he showed last year. He finished with 17pts but it took 17 shots... He's young so I'll cut him some slack but you could see it at times last year he didn't like to differ to Dev so it's no surprise he's trying to be the man. We gotta get more offense out of our bigs, I feel like our front court is our strenghth but the guards jack up most the shots from the perimeter. These stretches with no baskets are so painful to watch. One thing I noticed that we lack most with Dev gone was his ability to draw a foul and get to the line. In the second half how do you go over 5min with no buckets? Gittens or someone needs to be going to the rack drawing fouls to give us some free throws and stop their rythm. I didn't think we would win but I also didn't think we'd gift another game.... Signing off frustrated yet again

Some things never change. This was a game we should've won but the same problems we've had all year long end up costing us.

Entertaining game for Weber. We did everything but win! We need more height and talent inside! The Jois kid from EWU made us look like great athletes trying to cover a skilled basketball player. I thought our Senior did a better job against him and then we took him out. You can't tell me Coston isn't 6'4"! He is literally over his head!

Coston and Hill need more time in the lab. They just don't have the on court acumen to play at this level. Rahe seems to be a stubborn coach and isn't using playing time as a tool to hold his players accountable. I was disappointed he kept Golden in the game instead of going with his hot hand in Richardson.

One of the Asst. Coaches need to adopt Senglin and help him understand how to manage a game. In some situations he's more excited than a Chihuahua and he goes a little spastic. Someone has to be charting his charges, turnovers and just bad shots and help him understand he's hurting his team.

Wow, I've followed Weber for 20 years and owning the paint was what Weber was known for around the country! Why are we so weak inside? I hope we have some tough, mean and hungry rebounders in next years recruiting class!
