Weber vs St Mary's

Rematch time.

There are some major things we need to work on if we want to come out of Moraga with a win, First and formost, what the eff is up with playing so well in the first half and coming out and playing so cold in the second half? In all of our last 3 games, we have played really well in the first half only to come out completely flat in the second. We need to hit our shots in the 2nd half.

Bullinger is struggling right now, he is having a hard time hitting his shots, Im sure he will find his shot in due time. He is however playing good defense and is doing a great job rebounding, just imagine if he was hitting his shots, he would be unstoppable.

We need just a little more inside presence, Tresnak was a beast last night, but he was the only offensive threat inside last night, Fullton had a decent showing, but that was it.

Too many turnovers, in the second half we couldnt handle the press and it caused turnovers.

Freethrows, MAKE THEM PLEASE, only Lillard and Scotty B did last night, this needs to be rectified.

Scotty B was 0-5 from 3 land............that wont happen often. :yikes:

One good stat, we have out-rebounded our opponent for the 4th straight time

I do not think that St. Mary's is unbeatable, but it will take a perfect game for us to come out with a win. Hopefully the jitters are gone from the long layoff, and the Cats come out and scratch and snarl and fight for a win, a win will give Rahe his 100th victory as a Wildcat

I have faith. GO WILDCATS :notworthy:

As Wildcat said...Weber has a couple of things they need to fix or it is going to be a long night tonight for the Cats. I don't understand why Rahe's teams can't handle presses. Everytime Weber is pressed they commit a lot of TOs, and rush their offense. They need to slow things down and run their offense. Way too many quick shots last night.

I watched the first game with SMC and SFS. SMC is beatable, and it won't take a perfect game either. If we play like we did against USU we will win going away. We just need to play our game. Their front line is what may give us the most trouble, not their guards. We are bigger, but they are quicker on the front line.

Gotta keep our bigs out of foul trouble.

The guys gotta realize that it's a 35 second shot clock in the NCAAs. Just take your time beating the press and you still have a LONG time to work the offense and get a shot off. I'm sure Coach Rahe is hammering that home all the time. It's instinctual to hurry-up when you're in a press, but you gotta keep your composure and use your head. GO CATS!

We always seem to struggle vs fast bigs. A good example would be EWU last season.

Tresnak is much improved. Otis is a beast defensively for us this year. I don't think people realize how much he's frustrated the guys he's defended. I want to see more Otis and Mahoney out there at the same time to shut down their 4 and 5. Bullinger and Lillard are no slouches on defense as well.

Tresnak has been the man in the last few games, The unsung hero, he is a good defensive presence inside and he is scoring, two straight 10 point games for Kyle. The Mahoner is a good defensive presence, I would like to see him score more, but as long as he remains the blocking/rebounding beast, I'll be happy. Hajek is young and will gain some great experience. And I still stick by what I said about Mook when I saw him play against NNM, I Like him :-D

It seems to me that the only reason we don't see Mook and Mahoney on the floor together a lot is because neither are the most productive offensively. Defensively, together, they would virtually shut down the middle. With D-Lill, Bam, and Bull on the floor at the same time, you'd think that the Cats would be okay. Besides, both Mook and Mahoney can score around the basket. Fulton and Tres are the best possibilities for offensive production in the frontcourt, as long as Fulton isn't being a black hole. He needs to learn how to pass it back out if he doesn't have a shot.

Tres is turning into a very solid player for Rahe and his Cats. He does need to get quicker on the defensive end. Instead of playing defense so much with his hands, he needs to play more with his feet. Stay infront of his man, keep his man out of the middle, take away angles forcing awkward looks and shots for opposing teams players in the paint, and finally, be a wall.

The games is being web-casted by smcgaels.com for $7.95 (for a month). It was similar to B2TV last night (hey, I got 2 games for my $ !!). The announcer is a homer, so I doubt Weber will get much praise tonight. I tired tuning to 1280 to listen to Karl while watching the video, but they were too far out of synch to make it work.

And, much like B2TV, the video freezes at the most inopportune times (like the last two minutes of the game...arrgh!)

But we will watch and I will swear every time it stalls.....but here's believing in the 'Cats and it will be great to see them knock down St. Marys.

Doing the same crap as last night! No ball movement. Everybody wants to be the effing hero and take quick shots. Settle the hell down and run your offense!!! 3-of-13 shooting so far.

Weber up 10 late in the first half, key has been Tresnak, 11 points so far! If he keeps that up, Wildcats have to love their chances.
