Weber Women get a second commit

The Weber women have received a second commit (well actually the second that I know of) from 5-5 Justine Johnson of Gilbert high school in Arizona. Last week her teammate Ausha Cole committed to the Montana state Bobcats. Both Johnson and Cole are point guard prospects, but can also play the shooting guard spot. Johnson averaged 15 points 4 assists, 5 steals and 3 rebounds a game for Gilbert. Additionally Whitney Southerland also a 5-4 point guard is also receiving a lot of D-1 interest. All three players are very strong athletic, quick, defencive players and the Cole versus Johnson match up should be a very interesting thing to watch in the near future.

You can find some more info about Johnson, Cole and Gilbert high school in the post I did last week about Cole's commit to the Bobcats.

She sounds like a great pick up for the Cats. Thanks for the updates. By the way, where do you go for your womens basketball news? It would be nice if Weber State cared enough about their programs, our SID is a complete idiot, and announced signees once in a while. They are, after all, the first to know. Anyway, I digress, thanks again Mslacat.

There are not a lot of places to find info on women's recruiting. Notice the two names I dropped all have connections to Montana. Pfau plays in the same city I live in ( friends of friends kind of thing). Justine Johnson plays with a young lady who the Bobcat's landed so I happen to notice it.

Still though the best general women's recruiting site is Hoopgulz.com. Hoopgurlz has been long known as the authority in Women's basketball recruiting. They started out as their own web site then went over to Scout.com then went back out on their own and then about 18 months ago was bought out by ESPN and they are in the middle of changing it's name to ESPN-U Girls Basketball Recruiting. Below is a link to the website. On the upper right hand corner of the site there is a box called "On the Trail" which list the most recent commits or signing that they have heard. It is not by any means complete but it is pretty good. In the middle of the page there is a box where you can search a prospect by name or state. On the Banner on top if you click on team it will give you a list of teams by conference, and if you click on a team you will come to a list of recruiting updates for that team, You can then look for the most recent published on the site, or list of commits/signees, or prospects.

Here is the site link
