What a strange game... by the end, the refs weren't going to call a foul unless the DA handed them an assault indictment. To the credit of the refs, they managed it that way for both teams. I like that style of basketball; it sure makes the rhythm of the game much more fun to watch...

Obviously, a lot of what-ifs to look at given the late season woes... I really feel like Eastern has the most talented team, but those rotten losses to Portland State and NAU bit us in the end. Still, I think everyone would have taken a conference co-championship and a #2 seed when the season began and been awfully happy about it. Credit to Hayford and the guys!

If I'm not mistaken, the NIT has committed to taking conference champions regardless of affiliation if they don't win the conference tourney. Therefore, I guess it is safe to say the season continues regardless of what happens in Missoula. We'll hope and expect the best, but I'm glad this team will still have a few games left. That said, I feel like this team has a very good shot at winning the tourney, but a lot of teams have to feel like they are contenders given the log jam at the end of the season.

Man, if we could just have taken business in Cheney last weekend we'd be hosting. It's hard to believe we're not hosting when you look at overall records and bodies of work. 23-8 vs 18-11.

Meh. Hard to compare noncon schedules. The Griz losses were to:

@ Colo State, @ Boise State (double OT), @San Fran, @ Cal (double OT), Davidson, @ Wisc-Mil.

That ain't exactly cream puff row. Davidson is 23-6 and headed to the NCAAs. Cal beat eastern handily. Boise easily won the MWC title, going 24-7. Colorado State is 26-5 and almost certainly dancing.

That was one brutal ass noncon the Griz played.

Congrats to the Griz on earning the right to host the conference tourney.

The Eagles had a rougher non-con schedule by opponent ranking, long road trips etc and they pulled off more wins and more impressive wins. Unfortunately the Eagles missed 50% of the FT's against Montana in Cheney or this would all be moot.

Either way, the cards fell ho they did and Montana earned it. Congrats

If anything this season sets up some really nice Non conference payday's and maybe a higher profile tournament invite for next year with Harvey being the scoring machine that he is. Plus who knows maybe the Zags might buck it up and want to play us again, or are they too scared to face us?

When the EAGS win the BSC tourney, they might just get a shot at the zags in the big tourney.

I hope the Eags focus on winning as many tourney games as possible this year.

After that, they will face a mini re-build with Parker Kelly and Drew Brandon for sure gone (along with Moon) and who knows if Tyler and Venky return, both will get Professional if not NBA opportunities.

We will be in dire need of a PG, whether that means Sir Washington comes back from injury and improves or Daniel Hill finally shows what made him one of the top PG prospects out of Australia or another JC transfer, or a combination of the above... it could be a huge void.

As for the Zags, Eastern still is not in there class, but if Coach Hayford continues to build upon success it won't be too many years before that becomes a legitimate challenge.

This season the Zags would win probably 9 to 10 of 10 games, especially with the way Eastern has been shooting of late, but if the Eags got hot they have a punchers chance against anyone.

Be careful what you wish for.... Go to ESPN.com and check out who Joe Lunardi has us matched up with in the first round of the Dance. I wonder if the committee would actually do that?

That would be Crazy!!!!!!!

That would be a fun and memorable game... hopefully we don't draw them that early!

What other high seeded teams would you rather play? Plus, the EAGS could be the next team to facilitate the zag's annual early exodus from the dance.

I predicted it earlier this year in a thread and stated that when EWU beats Gonzaga in the tournament :D  Spokane will BURN or it will cause Few to get fired :
But EWU hoops will still get no respect :-) :coffee:

FWIW ESPN has the Griz with the #26 ranked non-conference strength of schedule, having played 3 top 50 teams (should have beat one of them too dammit). To be honest that kind of surprises me as I figured EWUs was going to be ranked higher than it is (#72). 72 is pretty damn good though. Love seeing Big Sky teams in the top 100 for non conference strength of schedule. If we want our conference to improve and start being actually more respectable playing good teams (and taking some lumps) is the way to go. Like what teams in the WCC began doing back in the 90s more frequently. Turned out pretty well for their conference!

As for the missed FTs, it's about time that cost some other team! The Griz kicked their own ass way too often this year late in games with missed free throws. Should have won the Idaho game and the game at Sac but couldn't hit a damn free throw to close out either game. It wasn't like the free throws were being missed by people who shoot 50% from the line either... Sucks to lose a game at the charity stripe!

Anyway, good luck in the tournament, I have a feeling we'll be seeing you guys for the championship game in front of a (hopefully) packed house at Dahlberg!

Thanks. It was a fun season all the way around.

But UM did have the more difficult nonconference schedule. In fact, it was the 26th most-difficult in the country (Eastern's was a very respectable 72nd toughest, and I agree you were able to get a couple of wins that escaped the Griz).
