Does this year look like a repeat of the two-QB rotation that seemed to work well last year? I was kinda-sorta hoping that O'Hara would compete for the Heisman (or at least the Payton), but if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?

Do you follow the team... like at all?

He apparently doesn’t follow the team as well as you stalk then pounce on all his posts, that’s for sure. ;)

I'd still like to see Skattebo get at least 15 touchs per game.....he got 13 yesterday good for 226 yds.....Had one pass, that he caught, get knocked out of his hands or otherwise he would have added another 20+ yds to his total....He accounted for 38% of the offense....FEED THE BEAST.....

I couldn’t agree more.

Offense was impressive, I am not concerned that they will keep us in the game.

I am pretty concerned about the D. Utah Tech O line is not top tier and we were neutralized most of the night on pass rush. If their QB’s would have connected on those wide open throws, by my count they would have had 2 TD’s and a red zone.

The good news is we have 2 weeks to get better in pass defense and blitzing every play is not an option.

We know from last year that Kyle is money in kicking game, so the snap/hold has to improve vastly in next 2 weeks, as we will need that in the upcoming 3 game road trip.

Overall it is a W and we all expect this team to improve and looking forward to UNI!

Stingers Up!

At the start of last season the o-line was quite unimpressive, for several games, but eventually figured things out and improved a great deal. Same goes for QB Jake Dunniway,

Hopefully the defense is able to accomplish the same this season. That type of in-season improvement is usually the mark of good coaching, which I believe most of us believe the Hornets have.

Just in case you guys have forgotten, I've moved out of the area. We have some guys closer to the team that I trust to have the good scoop. The TV situation doesn't help much.

Podcast is free. Discussed the two QB system would remain in place.

Athletics website had a QB preview that also spelled this out. Free of charge.

National articles talk about the QB situation. Free

Audio for games through the Audacy app. Free

Video for games on ESPN+ has a fee. You got me there.

Very few posters on this board live anywhere near Sacramento, yet we seem to do just fine.

The fact that it is lumped in with the idea that you think Dunniway should be a contender for the Heisman. The Heisman. You make the fan base look like we don’t have a grip on reality.

Re: Skattebo getting more touches…

I think we have to be careful what we wish for. He plays with such reckless abandon, I worry about him getting hurt. Towards the end of the game last week, he was slow to get up after a couple runs and we were up like 30, I wanted him out. Then he runs and inside back lol….

Anyways, he hasn’t been injury prone thus far, but he’s too valuable to just run into the ground, especially this early in the season. I think his sweet spot is probably around 12-15 carries and 3-5 catches a game.

I understand your concern about injuries but I don't think 15 touches per game is too much....He's a football player.....a REAL football player.....I think if he was used a bit more in the playoffs, we would of come out better.....If you're worried about injury, better keep an eye on O'Hara....He seems to put himself in prime injury spots and he is much smaller than Skattebo....

I hear what you’re saying.

However, I still believe it’ll be a big mistake having QB Asher O’Hara carry the ball more than Skattebo this season. And he did carry it more last season, and had more carries this past Saturday.

I think it will still be running back by committee... I think I would rather say we need more non-QB runs in general. Fulcher only got 6 touches and he's a damn good back between the tackles as well. Tau-Tolliver showed he has more speed than any back we've had his size in a long time. I liked the speed option look to him we were running with him and Asher, so long as Asher doesn't wait too long to make a decision and leave himself unprotected.

The other thing we have to keep in mind with Coach Taylor and staff, is that we didn't see much of the playbook, as they ran multiple plays out of the same formation multiple times. I think they have some things designed just for Skattebo that will be unveiled over time. I don't think its a mistake that we have 5/6 TE's on the roster (Jarrard the Oklahoma State transfer has moved to Long Snapper officially on the roster) for the first time in recent memory.

I thought about that too, save the best place and all the juice for UNI and hopefully an upset at CSU.

Luckily we have a ton of guys that can tote the rock.

If O’Hara does get injured, I bet you the coaches keep the game plan the same and have Bennett in the O’Hara role.

I think you’re spot on with this, They’d probably even use Hale in that role a bit too, like they did in the playoff game last season.

But both have truly been shown as run only options at this stage. O’Hara has 5,500 plus passing yards. Including over 4,500 at the FBS level. Which is why it works.

Totally agree. But those options would only be plan B if O’Hara is injured. As Kadeezy said, I don’t believe they’d alter their current plan. Clearly those guys haven’t shown the ability to sling it like O’Hara — but they clearly are run threats and the next guys up for the dual threat role.
