Of course I would have preferred an FCS team, but I’m sure it wasn’t able to be worked out. The bright side is six home games and an opener to work in a new offense where most if not all players will get playing time.
I don’t see it hurting the playoff resume as much as some do. In fact, I think some teams playing two FBS teams usually get punished as they don’t get as much of a look.
Honestly, this year is a very tough schedule, and there is a lot of improvement needed in a lot of key areas…mainly QB play, O line play, D line play, and FG kicking. I think this is the first year in a while where Weber State will be picked 4th or lower in preseason polls. As slight as the difference is in teams, this shouldn’t be alarming but suggests there is work to do. An easy D-II opener should help for this year, but of course avoided in future schedules.
