Week 1, @ Utah

Coach Hill made the TV rounds last night previewing the game:

A win would be the best thing to ever happen so far in my life...

Having said that, All I want to see out of this game is Weber compete, play with Utah and don't get blown out. I don't want to see 4 + turnovers or any injuries to our major starters.

Lets go out and compete, stay healthy, receive our paycheck and then get ready for the real start to our season next week as we take on Cal Poly.

GO WILDCATS!

Not my favorite either
I like it. All white vs all red. for a first game, it should make reads easier. The only problem I see with the all red is that a color blind person sees red and green as the same color. I don't know how many color blind players there are, but it could make a difference. :coffee:

I'm excited to see the 2018 rendition of our Weber State Wildcats. If anything, we get a chance to watch our team and see how good they really are. Hoping for an injury free game (for both teams) and one that is competitive. Nobody is giving the Cats any sort of a chance. So, no pressure on Weber State.

FYI, for those who don’t have the PAC 12 network, you can sign up for a week trial for Sling TV and stream the game through them.

Hopefully Jenks can settle down a bit and make some throws. Interior o-line is getting handled in the run game.

Hill has really good 2nd half adjustments... Did like how the commentators we blaming Utes mistakes for the score... those boys are playing defense without any rest... Weber should be up 2 scores

Not happy with the offensive game plan today. I’ll concede the interior o-line is overmatched by Utah’s size, Cooley has dropped 2 passes, we’re down to a true freshman RB, and our QB is making his first start.... but 1 touch for Shaheed, 0 deep throws to Shaheed, 2 handoffs to Brady May (great player but he shouldn’t be carrying the ball unless it’s on the goal line), and we’re running a bunch of play-action rollouts based off our run plays that haven’t produced anything. There has been nearly 0 easy throws for Jenks to get a feel for the game.

Defense has played their heart out but they’re on the field too much. Second half will be tough. Looking to see the offense put a few drives together.

Not sure it was the size as much as the speed of the UU's defense. Our defense had their moments, but just seemed to wear down. I'm not sure how much you can take away from a game like this. I just hope they can find a way to get better from here on out. Too many injuries. That concerns me a bit. :coffee:

I really hate these games. I don't know why I put myself through the hell of attending them. This game, the last USU game, and the last Utah game have been brutal to sit through. I know it's about the paycheck, but I wish FCS would only play FCS.

Minus a couple big plays, the defense fought like hell and played pretty good. As for the offense, I hope Utah's defense was really that good, or we could see some real struggles this season. The o-line was manhandled and the receivers were horrible. On the rare occasion they were open they dropped the ball. But I'm moving on. Cal Poly next week will tell us a lot more about this team.
