Week 10: Green and Gold Showdown

Sac State @ Cal Poly. Two teams both trying to turn the corner on disappointing seasons. Wish this game was for more than just pride, but a game I always look forward to. Anyone making the drive down? I will unfortunately miss the game (will watch on Big Sky TV) because I will out of town watching my daughter's soccer team compete In a tournament.

I’m not making the trip. The Hornet Club is organizing a booster bus that is available to those who are interested in going.

CP is a lot better than their 2-6 (1-4 BSC) record implies. The Mustangs have had a tough schedule early on and recently have had issues holding onto the ball. Quite frankly we just don’t matchup well against CP…I don’t think we ever will to be honest. Our only hope in this one is if CP continues its struggles with turnovers and if Sankey and Pearson can play out of their minds to keep CP from breaking big plays. Other than that I think we will get rolled.

I do hope to see K-Ham further his development and continue to run the offense well. CPs defense has really had struggles this season so the offense should be able to move the ball.

I think both teams will score a lot of points. What this game will come down to is turnovers and if one team can hold the other team to a FGs on a few drives vs TDs. I do not see either teams defense shutting down the other teams offense. This game is about pride and which team has more because that is all either team is playing for at this point in the season. Should be a good game.

Slo,

I think enthusiasm has waned in Hornet land. When it seems like the admin lacks any urgency to right a ship, it all becomes meh.

I think the admin at Cal Poly is fine, but being 2-6 has taken a lot of the shine off the 2015 season for Mustang fans.

Cal Poly has had trouble turning the ball over. Need to get some of those today to help the offense. Cal Poly DC is a former Sac State Coach Josh Brown who was under Sperbeck. He has really had Peterson's number last two years. Hopefully Peterson has learned from it. It is also the team Dano Graves went too. Dano is the 4th string QB. Glad we didn't sign him. Only Folsom QB that seems like he is working out is Browning. The rest have failed at the next level. Need to make plays today.

A bunch of wuss for a coaching staff. 4th and a foot, down by 14. Went for the field goal. :ohno:
Even when this team develops, with this coaching staff and their "im afraid to take any risk because I might loose my job" play calling, Sac State is not going to go anywhere. What a joke

Wow, what a year this could have been.

NAU crushes the mighty EWU program on the read carpet today.

SUU gets by MSU at MSU and is all alone on top of the Big Sky at 6-0. A tiny Big Sky school in the middle of no where in a tiny town with a tiny stadium and a tiny fan base. Just shows it can be down with the right coaches and players . And a school that has been a member of the Big Sky for just a few years. Good for them and hope we learn something from them.

Northern Colorado suffers as a new Big Sky school for many years and knocks off Portland State and becomes relevant for the first time this year. Good for them.

UC Davis gets 3 points against Weber State and goes down. Who cares.

Montana does just enough to do what Montana does to stay in the top rankings getting past Idaho State in overtime.

14-0 Cal Poly over our Hornets.

Best of luck Sac State in the 2nd half against a fellow CA Big Sky school that have could have had such a different year

Will keep dreaming of those years Cal Poly, Davis and Sac are the top teams in the Big Sky. That would be sweet since none of our schools are in the Big Sky region.

Unsurprisingly the Hornets got destroyed 36-14. Saw most of the 1st quarter. Hornets opened up with a solid drive that stalled deep in CP territory. The FG was blocked. CP then easily drove for a TD. Hornets went 3 and out on the following possession and CP drove for another easy TD. Game over in the 1st quarter.

K-Ham had a solid game: 33/42 for 335 yards and 1 TD. FR WR Ratliff had 9 catches for 116 yards. The Hornet ground game was nonexistent.

K-ham threw a lot of screens. Took to many sacks where he could have thrown the ball away. He is getting better. But not as sweet as a performance as the stats say they are

I’ll take that stat line from a true FR in his 3rd start. I agree that at some point Peterson is going to have to grow a pair and let his QB take shots down the field. Between K-Ham’s arm and Hennie’s speed, this offense should be able to stretch a defense vertically.

Oh he had opportunities to throw down the field, he held onto ball way to long and took 15 yard sacks. I agree he is playing well. For a freshman, but the sacks are going to kill you
