Week 10 - NAU

Did Weber forget to show up today?

To answer your question yes, yes they did

Got to give credit to NAU though they definitely have a team worthy of winning a big sky title

Boys came out with ZERO excitement/motivation. Really wish we could get excitement in the fan base so more of us show up in numbers and cheer the kids on. They started flat and defense was a huge letdown to start the game. Hintze misses again and I really feel for cam....

NOT SO FAST ON WEEK on the CAL POLY WEEK.--In fact the Cal POLY game doesn't matter now.

WEBER LOOSES TO NAU-NO LONGER A PLAYOFF CONTENDER! Start playing the freshman and get ready for next season and we can start the HOPE machine back up with the new recruiting class.

I have been wrong and I have been right this season. Unfortunately I was right about WSU the whole season. Wildcats have still failed to beat a winning team this season. The schedule this year allowed them to play the weakest of the weak this year in the conference. Hell Utah State even has a losing record. As long as the Wildcats play doormats they have a pretty good shot of winning. However, when they play a winner or a contender they fold like a cheap suit. After the last two weeks of loses it looks like there is some serious rebuilding that needs to be done for the future. Unless you like a 6-5 program at best. It starts with the coaching staff. 15 yards rushing last week and 64 yards on 28 carries this week. Even the trusted offensive line has went backwards during the past few weeks. Offensive line coach needs to get after the HOGS…..

So the HIGHS and LOWS of the WSU/NAU game:

LOW-HOW Many times does 21 and 22 of the WSU secondary have to get smoked by the opposing team. Stop having these guys go man, they are not up to it the task and they get smoked every single game! I know 21 & 22 are Jays Hills favorites.
LOW-Surpise, Surprise that NAU threw the ball all day long after watching WSU sell out on the run against one dimensional UND last week. Let’s face it, the defense for WSU sucks, NAU had 240 yards of offense the first half with a 2nd string midget QB
HIGH-All American TE 87# of WSU was an absolute monster, his one handed catch on the goal line beening hit helmet to helmet has to be Top Ten ESPN this week, congrats.
HIGH-Zach Smith, played great when they gave him the ball. He is by far the most talented and patient back for WSU. However, Clarke gets a bad snap can’t hand off the ball to Smith and they yank Smith and we never see him the rest of the game?
LOW- Punt Returner Tunney 83# trying to hard to make something happen, He has been playing with fire for 3 or 4 weeks and it caught up to him, he is a kamikaze! Then they put in Denby in and he is afraid to catch the ball and lets it hit the ground or calls for a fair catch and no one is around within 10 yards. WSU has to decide what they want kamikazi or someone afraid. Heck I would go with Denby, then just rush 11 on the punter because Denby is afraid to catch it or return it anyway.
LOW-What coach makes the call on a a successful punt return that ends up near the 40 with good field position and accepts the penalty for 5 whopping yards so that NAU gets to punt again and then disaster strikes on the redo..with a FUMBLE. You have good field position and the ball, don’t redo it, keep the ball, cardinal sin by the coaches on the call, never give up the ball when you have it.
LOW-Cam Livingston 1# Broken Legg gone for the season. Get well soon, great four years with the Wildcats. Thank you for your contributions
LOW-Second to the last drive of the game for WSU and Dru 6# and Cam 1# WR’s drop 6 yard or less easy catches? Got to catch the ball with the game on the line!
LOW-Clark 10# is still the Clark of three seasons ago. Still throws flat, Still stares down his WR and still throws to the middle of the field for the final INT where the free safety sat all game. Pre Snap read was Safety middle of the field 40 yards deep and of course he picks it off.
LOW-Hintze is yanked as the field goal kicker during the week, they jamm him back in for the first FG of the game that he misses and he is now 4 of 12, WTF is that. Please get him out of there. He is fine for Kickoffs but not anything else at the moment
LOW-Backup kicker not any better?
HIGH-The WEATHER, Incredible! Thank you it was a wonderul day in November, sorry no blizzard, not sure if it would of helped.
HIGH-The Crowd, very good one to see a 5-4 team that has not beaten a winning team this season. Want to get the crowd to go crazy, give out a free Domino pizza, they go nuts for a 7.99 pizza that taste like a 5.99 pizza.
HIGH-WSU Band day and the Military theme, not to mention the fly over, very strong! Thank you to our band and military.
LOW-Coaching Staff. Personal foul on the extra point and we try to run it in and get ZELCH! Should of had the penalty assesed on the kick off which would of put the ball on the 50 and go for the onside kick, even if we don’t recover it the ball is on the 35. Coaches missed that call and opportunity.
HIGH-Suppose to be nice weather again next week for CAL POLY and last home game of the 2016 season.
LOW-Looks like WSU will go 6-5 and come in the middle of the pack of the Big Sky as projected.
LOW LOW LOW-WSU defensive run stop. NAU never ran it between the tackles the entire game until the last 2 minutes because WSU has absolutely no outside containment to the run! It has been that way all season, no improvement no adjustments same losey Linebackers that can’t contain anything out side! Unless the defense sells out like at UND. HOPE WSU recruits some body’s on the front seven on both sides of the ball. The NAU QB never got his uniform dirty the entire game.
LOW-Cheeseburger Cantwell 11# attack. It didn’t work against UND so Fessi the Offensive Coordinater brought it back again with the same lousey results, to go along with the check down passes on third and 10 for 2 yards time and time again!
HIGH-Fan day was great. Good free food, games you name it. Don’t know anywhere in the nation that has such a good deal for a 10 buck ticket!!!!
HIGH-My Man HOSKINS 30# made some incredible plays, to reach backs that made him look like he was at the NFL level. Glad they took him off special teams. This kid is amazing! He will be an absolute look down corner next season!
HIGH-WSU PUNTER, Still a beast!! Big future ahead, Just call him SUPER FOOT! I like this kid!
LOW-WSU JUMBO PACKAGE on offense, what a joke….
LOW-Never should of given up on Billy Green at QB three years ago when he was running for his life with no O-line or WR's, could you imagine the progress he could of made in the last three years vs Clark…Ouch that hurts
LOW-Wilkes 13# not even allowed to dress and be on the sidelines this week, I wonder why?
LOW-The identity of the WSU offense, what is it? A bunch of hodge podge plays with a QB sneak when needed, seems like it changes to something new every week.
HIGH-BIG Vertical Catch by Denby 3# for a TD, amazing what happens when you go vertical once in a while away from the Free Safety in the middle of the field
LOW-What is the identity of the WSU DEFENSE? No run Defense and they like to give up the big pass play on 3rd and long. Oh yea and no pass rush and remember to blitz once a game whether you need to or not.
LOW-Penalties-How many in the last two weeks?
LOW-Down by 2 TD’s and the offense is taking its time and running 4 yard pass plays. Well we will always have the SUU game. Thank you SUU.
LOW-Teams are suppose to get better as the season goes, I am not sure WSU are any better than when WSU played South Dakota the second game of the season, same mistakes, bad plays, bad penalties, Not much progress at all.
LOW-Chick Fila ran out of chicken sandwiches at the game, Common Man.
HIGH-NAU has to take the 10.5 hour bus ride back to flagstaff. Congrats Tim Plough offensive coordinator of NAU. The former UC DAVIS QB used Bob Biggs offensive play book which is smoking hot, even with a 2nd string QB midget. 8# WR was a beast, looking forward to seeing him in the NFL.
HIGH-Keep LOPEZ in the box on defense, he is stout,, he is not so great when you line him up as a safety, so slow so slow so slow
HIGH-WEBER STATE CHEER AND DANCE! They are D1 BCS level and bowl eligible
HIGH-WSU Athletic Director, I have to give him credit he is trying to get the program going, In football it always comes down to coaching, always. I am not saying anything is wrong with Coach Hill but he has some coaches on the staff that are not doing him any favors and are not going to get WSU to the next level.
LOW-Election on Tuesday, Trump Train or Hillary, tough choice to have to make. The greatest country in the world and these are the best and brightest that we have to run our country.

I could continue but will stop, besides the 4 or 5 of us old timers on this blog I am not sure anyone else really gives a damm about the WEBER NATION. Oh well the basketball exhibition game at 5 pm was a lot of fun tonight. Looking forward to the upcoming BBALL season.

SE coverage - Coach Hill: "I was very disappointed with the defense. We came out very sluggish and did not match their intensity. That's the dilemma we have had is slow starts in the last couple of games."

Deflated is how this fan feels right now. I would imagine the team & coaches feel the same. But no time to just give up & hope/wait for next year.

'ncaafootball', you lost me half-way thru your diatribe this time, no need to write a novel & throw lots of stuff into it, including politics. :ohno: But the Cal Poly game DOES MATTER AND WEBER STATE STILL HAS A CHANCE TO BEAT A TEAM WITH A WINNING RECORD, & I for one, sure hope they DO because it will show you up! (PS. Though you may want to check with SE to see if they have an opening for a Sports Columnist/Critic.)

Make a statement Wildcats, lets go 6-4 come Sat. afternoon! Then with a win in Pokey, BECOME A PLAYOFF CONTENDER! (Not saying Wildcats will be selected, but there is the chance.) :thumb:

Being hard enough as it was watching Weber lose its worse coming on here and reading ncaa footballs blowhole evaluation. Do you honestly think you was the only one who saw the game. The only thing that needs to be said is that NAU can definitely find good quarterbacks.

WTF, Longtimecat, you really think the whole game came down to NAU finding a better second string midget QB? I watched 22 plus other WSU players on the field that I believe had something to do with the loss as well.
So I have learned over the years as long as you say the Coach is great, The program is going to the moon,WSU is going to the playoffs, provide the bloggers with endless amount of excuses for losing and I have noticed everyone loves when bloggers provide great excuses. The excuses week after week by the Weber Nation are more nausiating than my mindless blogs. At least I provide a reality check for all of the mindless hopefuls that think WSU is close to making the playoffs even though they have not beaten a winning team all year (which as you know I have pointed out the entire season to the hopeful critics) The coaches and players of WSU have not changed a damm thing this season. It's SOS every week. Same players, Same plays, Same Coaches, Same penalties and the same results. Yes it is mindless! The Weber nation is so hungry and desperate for good news from the football program they will suck up to any post even one titled 'PLAYOFFS" when there is no chance in hell they are going to the playoffs. Hopefully SUU can win out the season and someone can correct me and tell me they beat a winning team.

Right on with "my mindless blogs" ncaa, agree with that. This weekend, you've went out of bounds...I'll call "foul" on that...you have every right to post your thoughts/opinions & some of it I agree to, but there's no call to dump on, let lose & trash on other posters! Be as negative as you want, think what you want, dis on the coach's & players if you must, but I've posted much longer on this forum than you & been critical on some myself, still, I'm not going all bleak & negative. Don't think I've been overly positive & singing "Weber's-the-greatest-ever" too much either. I simply try to do some of the research, math, whatever on some posts...season's not over yet, it's not football "scorched" Weber Nation yet! Geeeeeezzzz!!

Look we all saw the same game and if ncaa football can post such a long and headache of a analysis then I can point out my displeasure of it that is also my right. I was not making excuses for the wildcats cause clearly they did not show up like we had hoped they would.I was however giving.kudos to NAU's backup quarterback. He was on and so was his receivers.

I may only be 29, but I have been a devoted fan of Weber for over 20 years. That doesn't plan on changing anytime soon. This is the 2nd time you have challenged my dedication to my college team. :tothehand:

Ncaafottball fan is not giving the NAU QB enough credit. He is a Senior AND a D1 drop down who played a ton at ECU. Here is a portion of his bio: Competed at East Carolina University...In 2015, completed 260 of 375 passes for 16 touchdowns..He threw for a total of 2,658 yards and an average of 241.6 yards per game...Redshirted at ECU during the 2014 season...Prior to ECU, Kemp led Mesa Community College to a pair of bowl games in 2012 and 2013.
Those are pretty damn impressive stats at a D1 so it isnt like NAU was just throwing the inexperienced equipment manager out there at QB.

As usual, Ncaafootball is throwing crap on a wall and seeing what sticks and then he gets bent out of shape when someone calls him out on his B.S. :wall:

Deflect and Deny......the official motto of the Wildcat bandwagon.
Where are all the geniuses that predicted an 8-3 or at worst a 7-4 season. They blogged that crap all season long? Not me...

Where are all the geniuses that predicted the Wildcats are going to the playoffs and blogged that crap all season long and still think so?...Not me

Where are all the geniuses that said the wins were not against doormats but really good teams? Not me, I didn't serve that crap up. FYI WSU still is winless against a winning team this season.

So who is full of crap and who keeps throwing things up against the wall that doesn't stick?

If you want to be a geniuses on this blog, just say that WSU are going to go 8-3, The offense is great, the defense is even better, the recruits are all the best in the nation,WSU is going to the playoffs and we are getting a snow blizzard that will ensure we become national champions this season.

This thread is too funny. Weber laid an egg. Are we better than NAU? No, but frankly we are just as good. Consistency seems to be the issue. We need to learn how to play 4 quarters. This team is talented. They are good. Honestly, with 4TOs last week the Cats still could have beat UND and probably should have. This week, the Cats decide to only play one half of football (again against NAU for the third year in a row) and still are in it. Refs blew a PI inside the 10 on a drive the Cats would have taken the lead. NAU did nothing in the second half other than a 61 yard Rush that broke our backs. No matter, to me, Weber was as good as NAU. Rough loss...to a team that isn't better.

Honestly bro, I think you're the only one who gives a crap about right or wrong predictions. Yeah I thought 8-3 or 7-4 was possible. I was wrong, so what? My life is not changed in any way by being optimistic about the team I root for.

:+1: I certainly thought 7-4 was possible at the start of the season and was quietly optimistic they could find their way into the playoffs. Unfortunately, that view changed quickly as the season progressed, despite a 5 game win streak I didn't expect. 7-4 is still possible but pretty unlikely I'd say. Even at 7-4, based on past history and what this team is, I still say zero chance of a playoff invite. My bigger disappointment this season is that I did not enjoy watching this team-- win or loose-- like I did the last couple seasons, maybe it was the injuries, maybe it was just what appeared to be a lack of fundamentals in nearly every aspect of the team.

You win ncaa football out of everyone you was the only one who was a genious. You went out there and proved that Weber was at best a mediocre team. While everyone else was optimistic about Webers chances and had hopes of making the playoffs you took it upon yourself to prove all wrong. You truly are an Oracle and the #1 Weber State fan on this board congratulations.

So much bickering, it's almost as bad as reading the Griz message board. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out we are an average BSC team, but that doesn't mean we can't still make the playoffs. I've been a backer of Billy Green, but he's gone, we've discussed the QB spot to death. We've got Clark for 2 (maybe 3) games left. Some games and some series he's great, some crappy, by and large he's average. I would much rather be where we are at now at least we're having the discussion of a playoff berth instead of lamenting if we will win 3 games all year.
