Weber quickly exploits our weakness. DB play. Smh. Terrible so far.
I’m seeing bad defensive scheme by Andy Thompson. Focusing on stopping the run is good. But the coverage scheme behind it is really bad.
Make Constantine pick them apart by throwing in front of the coverage. In other words, don’t allow deep throws to a QB that isn’t known for being adept at reading coverage and picking defenses apart via the air.
On the 3rd and 16 play, the corner had no help over the top yet was playing 6 yards off the ball. Can’t do that! He took two steps and threw deep. Easiest throw in the world. If they play your corner that close, they have to have help over the top. Otherwise that corner needed to be in ‘off’ coverage playing the sticks. Horrible scheme.
Then on the 2nd and 11 that led to the last TD, they ran a 7 man blitz — including both linebackers — which I was ok with. But when you do that with the hopes of making the QB make a quick decision and throw and you have no underneath coverage, the DB’s can’t play ‘off’ coverage. They have to get up and pressure the receivers. Make the QB make a tight throw under pressure.
Instead, he makes another easy quick toss to a WR that had nobody within 7 yards of him.
The coverage schemes aren’t meshing with what they’re doing up front.
That’s poor defensive scheme, not great play by Weber’s offense. Sorry.

A much better team showed up tonight. Weber should be #3.
Don’t agree. Weber is out coaching and out scheming Sac State. So they’re better in that respect. But I’m not sure they’ve got better players.
