I do realize that K-Ham has improved and I believe will be a good QB for the hornets. My point is that I wouldn't go as far as our offense has the advantage in the game or our Defense has not improved. Or our ST are terrible. ST is more then just making a FG.

The Hornet defense was very competitive in the first half of the season, but in the last 4 games, the Hornet defense has no-showed at SUU, contained an ISU team that doesn't have a QB, no-showed at CP, and no-showed at NAU. For a throw away year in which our mantra is "we're young" or "it's a process" (I forget which one it is) this defense should be improving as the season progresses, not regressing into a unit that gets out played and out coached on a weekly basis (we're 2nd to last in pass defense BTW).

As far as special teams are concerned, they haven't been very special. The FG woes are very disappointing, but at least they can make PATs. Punting/punt coverage has been fine. Opposing teams are smart enough to kick away from Hennie on kickoffs, but we're averaging less than 19 yards a return. Hornet kickoff coverage is giving up 30 yards a clip, fortunately Medeiros' (he has been a bright spot on KO's) kickoff power has mitigated much of that. The dungpilers have a top notch kicker so they have he edge on ST imo.

I want us to win this game just like every other Hornet fan out there, but I'm not going to pretend like this team is good enough to roll to an easy win.

SDHornet, I'm flattered! While I was expecting something more imaginative than "troll", its clear that coach Gould has had a tough time of it. Of course, Sac State is right there with Davis so I guess misery loves company?

Well at the rate you guys are going it'll take Gould the length of his entire contract (assuming he lasts that long) just to match the amount of wins Sears had last season.

Even with the records being similar I would rather be where we are with our young talent and Coach Sears than the hopeless swamp that the dugpilers find themselves in. At least we have something to look forward to as our young team develops.

I do believe we have a chance to win this game. I still believe in the team. I know a lot of people do not want to play the young card but it is the truth. The Hornets are young. Hopefully they do improve. I think the Hornets pull this one out.

Old Hornet I have absolutely no problem playing the young card because it's accurate. The self-proclaimed genius who promised to go away just doesn't get it so he continues to bitch and moan. We have excellent young talent on the roster and we finally have a HC with integrity. The young Hornets will be beat Davis and then go on to be a much better football program once Coach Sears has a chance to recover from the BS the last guy left behind.

Old Hornet I have absolutely no problem playing the young card because it's accurate. The self-proclaimed genius who promised to go away just doesn't get it so he continues to bitch and moan. We have excellent young talent on the roster and we finally have a HC with integrity. The young Hornets will be beat Davis and then go on to be a much better football program once Coach Sears has a chance to recover from the BS the last guy left behind.

:roll: Everyone on this roster essentially has a full season under their belt at this point. Being young doesn't explain why our defense has been nonexistent for 3 of the last 4 games.

1.Offense is not getting anything. Davis players are more "hype" and compose for this game. Theyre showing that this game means more to them. This is on BOTH the coaching staff and the players, unbelievable.

2. The refs have NOT called a single penalty on Davis, and we're more then halfway through the 2nd quarter. Are they trying to tell me that Davis have not held or commit ANY kind of foul in a violent game like football. What a joke hno:

I couldn't believe that call either, especially midfield, short yardage, and with limited time available.
The dungpilers long drive after that sealed the game. I'm tired of Sears"s/ Peterson's unwillingness to roll the dice and take a risk in such situations. We rarely go for 4th and short, fake punts etc. We went for a fake punt vs Poly and it worked. It doesn't send a message of confidence to the players when you bet against their ability to make 1 or 2 yards even in a relatively safe field position.

Southern Utah wins the Big Sky football title today in front of an over flow crowd of 9,000 in Cedar City , Utah today. Wow. And the Hornets end the season in last place in front of over 10,000 at Hornet Stadium.

Offense looked bad. Can not run the ball at all. Started the day off with two dropped passes. Thought the only bright spot was ST, blocked punt for a TD was great got us back in it. Heath did a great job punting Davis had long fields but did not matter. Got onside kick as well. Missed a 53 yard FG before half as well. Need the offense to improve along with Defense. I don't believe Pererson all of a sudden becomes a bad coach. Offense was unbelievable last year. He will get them going. Defense needs to make some changes. Let's remember this whole staff is Sperbeck staff except for the RB coach
