Week 2 - at South Dakota

Too late to cancel my season tickets? What a horribly managed game. Very disappointed. We made multiple poor decisions, and seem to have no desire.

Worst loss possible!! Clark absolutely sucks and if Hill sticks by him then maybe he needs to go as well!! Defense can't stop anything, and when needed our offense cannot convert!! I remember watching Pizzaro and thinking no QB could ever be worse but Clark makes him look like Joe Montana!!! We also have zero heart IMO, when things get tough our team shrinks like bacon in a frying pan!! Seems like both new coordinators don't know what they're doing either! Going to be a long season and this loss all but ensures a losing season or at best another 6-5 season.

With a 1:30 or so remaining in the 4th, it was 4th and 1, WSU with the ball on their own 30ish yard line. Should've gone for it. Had they converted that 4th down, they win the game. Hard to not blame Clark and Hill. I sure miss Billy...

God, Clark is terrible.

This sums up my feelings.

Wow...what an absolutely demoralizing result. To be up by 21 and to lose. Why on Earth is Clark our starting QB? He has got to be the worst starting QB in the conference in the past 20 years.

Because we haven't had anyone step up and beat him out. I'd love to see someone do it. Right now he is the best we have. He made some glaring mistakes, but he did a lot of good as well. There were some glaring defensive errors in that game as well, mixed in with some good. I did think that we showed some improvement over the USU game. It certainly was not all bad. All of you guys can step away from the cliff. We haven't played a single home or conference game yet. The way some are talking you would think that we should suspend the rest of the season, steal their ball and go home. :wall:

MVFC 3 - BSC 1; Montana only winner vs. No Iowa 20-14...EWU lost only by 6 in OT to NDSU, NAU lost by 2 TDs, & of course, Weber St. gifts it's game away...no further comment. :x

Good Evening From Vermillion, South Dakota

Final Wrap up of the the USD 52 Weber State 49 Double overtime loss

-Remember Blow out games are won and loss by players, Close Games are won and loss by coaches-
(WSU up 21 points in the first Quarter and WSU up 21 points with 7 minutes left in the game)

Positives
-Weber State fumbled three times on offense and recovered the ball every time
-Big 30 is the most talented corner for the Wildcats, to bad they benched him after he made an incredible breakup play.—this kid is a serious player for many years to come
-33 our Tight end great blocker, nota good receiver
-Offensive line are still absolutley dominating the line of scrimmage, not a lot of college lines using pro style zone blocking schemes and just moving the pile. Great job by the O line.
-Punt return team has made zero mistakes in the first two games. Punt return team please learn to hold your man more than a nano second, you may have to try a little bit so we can have a return, just a nano
-First Offensive touchdown of the game, best trick play of the season. Great CALL
-In the second half of the game we saw YACS for the first time this season, Demby catches the first deep ball of the season, took us 6 quarters to make it happen
-The Dome Dogs were Delicious in the Dakota Dome
-Campus at USD absolutely perfect, they even have a Chic Filet on campus and the nicest fans in the country
-I know I am running out of positives………...

Negatives
-I wont speak about Clark because I have watched the same story and Chapter for 2 and half seasons, I don’t want to waste my time.
-“5” Dropped passes, we are now offically tracking ahead of last seasons pace of 40 or more dropped passes in a season. Key drops by 87, 6, 3, 33 and Two games in a row that 26 dropped the ball on key drive
-We had negitive YACS in the first half. Could the receivers just take a knee when they catch the ball, it produces the same results
-Demby, with the game on the line and he lets the ball bounce off his shoulder pad in the end zone for a major drop
-Please stop running Demby on the jet sweep every game, I have watched him for the past 2 seasons and he always runs out of bounce for negative yardage, every time. Stop
-26 Garret drops another pass for 6 points, oh yea I said that above
-Refs looks like one of the wildcat receivers and lets the ball bounce off his head in the second half
-35 breaks his hand, please don’t put the starting full back as the deep back on the kickoff team, he will break his hand and it takes him a week to bring it out of the end zone
-87 now we know why San Jose State wouldn’t give you a scholarship, you dropped two perfect passes, is the Dakota to much pressure
-48 we hope you are not a one game wonder as our Punter, Punted great against USU with 30mph winds, now you punt inside the Dakota Dome in perfect conditions and you are schanking it
-6,3 and 1 besides not much YACs you guys need to learn to block for each other on the Tripps formation. USD defense was blowing you guys up! Learn how to block!
-Defense you have given up 1,000 yards in two games, Defensive Cordinator wake up or get out
-4th and 13, no time outs and no time to recover in the redzone and the defense is playing with a single safety, what is the Defensive Cordinator thinking
-3:48 seconds in the game and we see our first blitz of the game by the wildcats for a major sack. You are allowed to blitz more than once in a college game, They blitz on average 33% of the time in the NFL
-23 is a major bust. Jay Hill has been promoting this guy and USU and USD ran over him and around him again and again
-Up by two touchdowns and the corners get beat deep not once but twice in the final minutes of regulation and allow the slow white boyz of USD to get behind them. Know the situation and field position
-Demby gets an unsportman ike penalty which gives USD get field position on their next possession and the coaches say and do nothing…………
-Not feeling any love from the POLY Nation? Wow he did not say that, yes I did, 8 needs to get healthy and start playing soon the Weber nation needs you
-3 TD lead with 7 minutes in the game it is 3 and 12 and Clark throws a INT! What is the Offensive Cordinator thinking? Remember we have no QB! Worst Call that I have seen in years. Run the ball, punt it deep and USD would of had the ball with 80 yards to go down by 3 TD’s and 6:30 left in the game. Heck the USD student section already left the game because the game should of been over.
-21 seconds left in regulation and WSU is on the 35 please throw the ball 60 yards down field for a hail mary instead of having Clark throw it 10 yards down field for a pick that built momentum on the USD side
-25 our Linebacker got run over by the QB of USD, how embarrassing
-Two games in a row that the defense has zero outside containment
-22 either a cornerback is good at coverage or run support he does neither, Two games and we don't understand why your starting the sooner 30 is starting the better off we are in the Wildcat nation. FYI..when someone is running past you for a game winning touchdown and you know there is no safety support over the top just tackle, hold, grab or do something to the receiver but don't let him run by you for 6.

You had to be here to see, lots of confusion on the sidelines by lots of coaches and players, I guess the offensive scheme was just to complicated and coming at them to fast.

Lots of so called loyal alum from the Wildcat nation but two road games in a row and not much support in purple. Lots of wannabees on the message boards, not many showing up to the games for support.

It all has to come together next week against Sac State lets see who shows up between players, coaches, boosters and fans.

Oh and I forgot, Hintze 47# two games in a row of missed field goals, get it together. You are indoors, on turf, good snap, good hold and all you are asked to do is hit a simple chip shot like the kicker from USD did that beat us and we could of had a 3OT

I won't stand for you challenging my dedication to Weber State, Im not retired and I have a lot of stuff going on this time of year. Just because I don't travel 1,300 miles to see Weber play doesn't mean Im not a fan or dedicated to them. When I became a Weber fan a little over 13 years ago I listened to EVERY game I couldn't go to on the radio before they were available online and I would still today if it came to that. I watched all of the game today before life drew me somewhere else.

I bleed the deepest shade of purple and will always cheer for Weber. I don't need someone like you telling me I'm not a fan because I don't travel across country to watch them. But if I could I would

This. Screw you ncaafootball. You have your head so far up your ass nobody can understand half of what you post.

Never question other fans loyalty based on whether they can make it to a road game. I have traveled to many games, sometimes at a moments notice. But it isnt always convenient or even possible for many fans. I have had season tickets for 20+ years. Served my school in many capacities. Been there for the good, the bad, and John L. Sat through snowy games with pneumonia for this team. You can kiss my ass.

I will give you the trip to South Dakota, not everyone can jump into the Winnebago.

However, Logan, UT was such a long drive and tickets would set back a Wildcat fan $12 bucks and yet we can't get more than the band, the players parents and a few fans to a game that is less than an hour away.

Hopefully we will see all of the thousands of bleeding purple fans this week when conference play starts against SAC STATE. See you at the Toyota tailgate party on Saturday.

Keep posting ncaa, I enjoy reading the insight, even if I don't always agree with all of it. And yes, Weber fans do suck. The turnout at the USU game was rather pathetic (ain't no one going to SDakota, so don't even go there). But it's always been that way, and frankly, can you blame them most of the time? Seems like every time our hopes get up we're let down yet again. And with an administration that puts forth a pathetic effort, change comes slowly, if at all.

I blame this loss mainly on QB Clark. Not so much for his overall play (it was far from the worst I've seen him play), but on the mistakes he made towards the end of the game, especially the interception that turned into a TD for the Yotes. Mistakes were made all the way around, but without that interception Weber wins by at least 14. A senior three year starter can't make that mistake.

That interception was definitely the turning point in the game. It seemed to be a free fall from there. At this point in his football career, Clark is what he is. I feel like he's made some improvements from last season, particularly on progression through his reads, but he will never be the Jamie Martin that we all want him to be. That's ok. We can still win with a mediocre quarterback if we tighten up a few things. It's easy to make Clark the whipping boy, but we have some other glaring issues. I have not been impressed with our defense. Turnovers were great but giving up 52 points is deplorable (42 in regulation). We lack the depth we need on defense. I'm looking for our back ups to step up while we endure some injuries.

The sky is not falling. I totally reject the "I'm cancelling my season tickets!" attitude. I understand it was a rough loss, but it was just that. One loss. And a non conference loss at that. We competed. Credit South Dakota. They made the plays they needed to make. I thought the Cats played great on occasion and poorly at other times. Hill has this program on the right track. Two years ago, this game would've been 42-7.

ncaafootball - I appreciate your dedication to giving detailed evaluations of the games here on the forum. I really do find them interesting, even though I don't always agree.

I was there at Utah State for the opener, and I was actually a little surprised by how many Weber fans showed up (I'd guess around 500 or so). Weber fans traveling to an FBS opponent isn't a really fair measuring stick to the health of the Weber State fan base. FBS to FCS is apples to oranges. Let's say it like it is, over the past five years, for the most part, Weber State has sucked at football. I bleed purple and will always support and follow the team, but can you really blame a casual fan for not wanting to travel an hour (or more for Salt Lakers) to see what is almost a guaranteed loss? For God's sake, we only average 6000-8000 fans at home games over the past few years! I understand that our fan base needs a major boost in numbers and in spirit, but don't demonize people who don't reach some extreme benchmark of "true fandom" (like traveling to the middle of nowhere South Dakota for a football game).

We will get a win this week vs. Sac State. anxious to see how the team responds to a heartbreaking loss. Hope the fan base supports the Cats coming home.

Lost a game we should have won. Sadly I've seen the Cats do this time and time again. Better luck next week, guys.

Actually, a REAL fan would know that the Sac St game is a Non-Conference match up this year... :dunce:
No way in hell was I driving to BFE South Dakota to prove my fandom to you. And I also wasn't going to drive up to Logan just to see my team get humiliated by another instate FBS team, I have seen that movie more than a few times and for way more years than I care to admit. :twocents:

This game hurts. Weber should have won by at least 2 TDs. That game was gift-wrapped and presented to the Cats and they just couldn't figure out how to unwrap the present. Offensively, we look very tentative and predictable. I'm thinking that isn't going to change as long as Jay Hill is our coach. Look at who he worked for. Kyle Whittingham has the absolute most boring offense known to man and hasn't ever been able to develop a QB. The same thing is happening at Weber. QB development has been non-existent. The only thing that has changed with Jadrian is the fact that he is a year older. He isn't worse, but he isn't better. The WRs are a frustrating bunch. The drops are killing us. Final guff with regard to offense, why do we either go deep, run up the gut, or throw short on third down? Frustrating!

Defense?! Well, when most of the team is injured there isn't much our defensive coaches can do. I will say that the DE's did look better, but still really soft on the edges. Far to often USD was able to get a chunk of yards on broken plays off the edges or by running off tackle. The ends need to get better. The last two passing TDs, by USD, our secondary was totally out of sync and lost. We desperately need our S's to get healthy. It would be nice to know why they are all out and who is out. Nice thing, Landon Stice and Jared Afalava had nice games. Emmett Tela should be ready to go this Saturday.
