Week 2: SAC @ ASU

Ok we are officially in Week 2 ourselves as the team was back at practice today. Tough trip to Tempe as the Sun Devils are definitely not Colorado or Oregon State (currently losing to EWU right now).

The offensive efficiency needs some serious work right now.

Anyone else see EWU / Oregon St. game? Thank goodness we don't have EWU on the schedule. Vernon Adams was a stud at QB.

did not see game, but saw him on BSTV last year when we played them; he makes McGhee look like a Pop Warner QB.

Seeing what I saw of Vercher in camp, he reminds me of Adams. I think at this level, these 5'10-ish QB's are the best because they can pass or run. In the spread, its a very dangerous combo for the defenses to try and guess what the next play is.

Safron is going to have to mind his Ps and Qs or Will Sutton is going to break him in half this week.

Lots of ASU stuff posted on Hornet FB Facebook (also a lot of ASU trolls posting in the comments section  )

No time for a write up this week so here are my thoughts:

ASU will be a contender for the Pac 12 title as they open up the season with the Hornets who are looking to keep their two year Pac12 winning streak alive. ASU does have a huge game against Wisconsin for their second game so they could be looking ahead.

ASU is a tough and physical team so the Hornets are going to have a tough time in this one. This game probably gets out of hand sooner rather than later so hopefully the Hornets can see some success when the 2nd and 3rd stringers are on the field. So long as Safron can show some sign of confidence and consistency (yeah right), the coaches show some sort of coherence and organization, and the FG unit show they can make a FG then I think we all can look forward to the FCS portion of the schedule. Also hoping that the Hornets can avoid any serious injuries in this game.

Sac Bee article: http://www.sacbee.com/2013/09/03/5704797/sac-state-uc-davis-face-tough.html
"I think they're mature enough to understand that any team can beat you," Graham said. "You see all over the country that kind of stuff happening, and not just anybody. There are ranked (FBS) opponents getting beat by (FCS) teams."

Graham said Sac State's loss was misleading because the Hornets had four good scoring opportunities that failed to produce points.

"In the first game, I don't think their offense was indicative of how good they are," Graham said.

Now on to figuring out where to watch the game since I don’t have the P12 Network…

Question:

I'm not saying we win this game (though it would be nice). But if we win, is ASU screwed for the season? Or can they get it together in time to win their conference?

If I remember right, Michigan went into a tailspin after App beat them. Could ASU do the same, or are they better than that?

All the best to Sacramento State on another big stage. Great to have another opportunity to play against a Pac 12 school.

Go Hornets!!!

Looks like I'm screwed for tomorrow. Pac-12 Network and ATT haven't come to an agreement for this week's games (yet)...

Guess this means I'll be looking for a pirated stream online...

According to the game notes, Milanovic and Williams are listed as starters for tomorrow's game. I guess that's good news.

My plan is to hit up a sports bar. I’m not going to miss seeing the Hornets in HD if that option is on the table.

I'm an idiot, I have Comcast now AND I have the Pac-12 network (moved recently). I'll be watching the HD feed from my couch with the most patient wife in the world.

Let's do this!

Let's do this indeed.

Such a treat to see our school on TV. Wish it would happen each week, but until that day, very excited about tomorrow night!!

Go Hornets.

The whole section 24 reserved for Sac State fans is SOLD OUT! We have friends that have to sit in ASU territory, yikes

Great to know that the Hornets will have fans on hand in Tempe. And many more cheering them on from home !!

Fight on Sacramento State!!

Good to hear there is a solid fan turnout. Probably would have had a few more if it were a weekend game.

Score prediction: ASU 45, Sac State 10.
I think this one will be a massacre.

I have to agree that this one is going to get out of hand. Todd Graham likes a fast pace offense and attacking defense, I don't think the Hornets are equipped to deal with the level a talent coming at that pace.

Sorry to say:

ASU 52
Sac 17

Even if this is ugly, the Hornets will have plenty of time to turn things around to chase a playoff berth.
