Week 2: Sac State @ San Diego State

The Aztecs (0-1) come in off of a tough 31-10 loss at Stanford that was a one possession game until late in the 3rd quarter. SDSU stacked the box with their stout 3-3-5 defense that limited Stanford to 50 yards on the ground but got torched through the air by Stanford’s big WRs.

Offensively it’s all ground and pound as the Aztecs have churned out stud running back after stud running back ever since Brady Hoke reinstated a winning culture during his short tenure on Montezuma Mesa almost 10 years ago. The Aztecs will line up in multiple TE and RB sets and pound the ball with Juwan Washington behind their big, young but experienced OL.

This will be a tough physical game for the Hornets, and I think this one could get out of hand rather quickly. I hope the Hornets can hang with the Aztecs for a quarter, but in the long run the defensive front will just get worn down.

Any news on George Obinna's status. He's a game-changing DE so we definitely need him this weekend!

Some encouraging news on Obinna from The State Hornet "With senior defensive tackle George Obinna injured in the first quarter, the Hornets wound up allowing 111 rushing yards. As a junior, Obinna had 8.5 sacks as a junior and Wulff said his minor injury will likely not bar him from playing next week at San Diego State."

I'm still T-d off about what SDSU did to UOP (largely due to that punk Marshall Faulk) back while I was in the Navy and actually at the game. I'm hoping Sac can get some revenge for me, and I'm not as pessimistic as Kadeezy seems to be. If their DBs are THAT problematic, we might be able to take advantage of that. I'm going to put on my optimistic hat here....

Sac 31, SDSU 24....

The Hornets have benefited from some officials calls in this game, but the last couple spots went against them. On one of them Thomson clearly had a 1st down.

Hornets punted inside the 20. Let's hope they can hold'em again then put together a TD drive.

Let's go Hornets Go for it on all downs Great job Sac State for going for it all the way. Great game and so nice to lead all the way until the end . All good Hornets . Very proud .
