Week 2: Sac State @ Southern Utah

This team won't even sniff the playoffs if they continue to play as they did today. Horrific showing today.

An INT but nullified by an stupid off-sides penalty. It's been that kind of day. They couldn't do much more wrong if they tried.

I think the Hornets are still in last week. They never got off the plane.

Well when the halftime radio broadcast is recapping last weeks win over OSU, it's no surprise that this team didn't show up today either.

Jason Ross and Steve McElroy are are trying to say this wasn't a letdown... I don't agree...

SUU is good, but we're not this bad...

Huge letdown. Huge no-show by this team. Absolutely pathetic.

Why wasn't this game scheduled at home? We win if we are at home IMO. Well I did say this was the most important game earlier in the week. Just completely negated everything built up from last week. Very similar to JMU last year over their win over VA Tech.

35-14 now.

I'm glad it's a blowout rather than a close loss. It should teach them some humility and to always come prepared. One can only hope, anyway. SUU is a good team, but not that good.

Losing is one thing, but going through the motions and looking disinterested is something else. Sperbeck should have saved the program some money and just kept the team at home and forfeited the game. That would have been less embarrassing than the effort his team gave today. Sorry, not going to sugarcoat it.

Props to SUU. They came to play and wanted it a helluva lot more than the team in green and gold.

Wonder if their will be a record number of ticket refunds this week ;) Seriously, I wouldn't blame anyone as I wouldn't want to pay to see a performance like today's. Just watching a free live stream from home and I feel like I wasted 3 hrs of my life I'll never get back. Way to flush the biggest win in program history down the toilet.

I doubt it. SUU rolled us today. 35-14 final. 14 offensive points ain't going to get it done against anyone.

BTW, is Sperbeck touting a goose egg when it rains?

We would be home with a huge crowd, larger than anything SUU can put together. Plus the heat. We don't play well ever in Utah.

i really thought this would be a Sac win, but, a tough one. SUU has made some big strides the past couple years..much like Sac. and Sorensen is very, very good. they probably should have beat EWU in washington at the end of the year.

if any of you are 'half-full' guys, you're 1-1...which is probably what you expected in the preseason.

if davis' experience is any indication, your trip to Bozeman is gonna be a challange. their QB is very good. we're a year away from competing with the top of the BigSky.

I agree but good teams need to find a way to win anywhere. Now the Hornets are going to depend on SUU to have a good year to make this loss a meaningful one (if there is such a thing). Just an over all poor performance and poor reflection of this program. This program is much better than what we and all the viewers saw today.

Yeah I expected us to be 1-1 but the other way around. Still, classic let down game. The coaches knew SUU was really good offensively and we would have to out-offense them.

Although the defense struggled, they didn't do as bad as it looks. Take away the garbage time TD and the KR (which is a blemish against the ST) and they held SUU to 2 TD's and 3 FG's (one of which was missed).

The offense was deplorable aside from a couple of drives. A complete disappointment considering the passing game looked like world beaters a week ago.

This game did not go well at all. There was no huzpah here at all. On defense, we made no adjustment on the plays in the middle of the field. On offense, everything was off and never seemed to click. This team needs to stop reading their press and get the fire back.

I have no problem playing man coverage and if they beat you, tip your hat to them. Zone defense coverage bugs the hell out of me when you know you have pass happy QB like Sorensen. The guys at this level don't have the speed to collapse in a zone defensive coverage.

Zone probably would have been fine had they had pressure on the QB all game. Plus in man, their RB runs circles around our LB's any day of the week and would have been (and was) a mis-match hugely in SUU's favor.

Short term memory fellas. Let it go. Regroup. Take it out on Weber St.

Bring the swarm. Bring the sting. Bring the pain! Go Hornets!!!

Except Weber is very similar on offense. We have to make our adjustments this week or we will be behind the 8-ball quickly in conference and overall in season.
