For the most part I agree with you SD. But, you can't equate a loss to SUU to a win over a D-II. A big win over a D-II as opposed to this loss to SUU would've been much more helpful if the committee is trying to decide between us and the Thunderbirds for an at-large bid. There'd still be an element of mystery. That's out the window now...

Still though, I would've rather had SUU on the schedule for a shot at a quality DI win. So I can't say that I oppose the intent!

I agree, however, this game should have been at home. When we agreed to go there, it gave them a 4th home game for the year, that's all they have. No offense to them, but we should have said our place or no deal.

Yes, a home game with anyone would've been huge... Especially following the OSU game, can you imagine the turnout???

Plus, we have to go there again next year. Why wasnt this a home game? I'm guessing that with the SUU loss we just also lost 5,000 fans, more will shy away if we lose to Weber.

Thoughts from the game.
1. The grass was high, slowing our speed down.
2. 6000 ft altitude. I think that affected Flemmings game as well as running for his life.

A few seasons back, USC accused Notre Dame of intentionally allowing the grass to grow long. USC players said it was an attempt to slow them down. Well, it didn't work. Tall grass has nothing on movable limbs. Unless, it is knee high.

I think that elevation may have been an obstacle. Thinner air the higher you go. But, that's on the staff and admin. Did they arrive at least 48hrs before to ware off any jet lag and to acclimate?

As I understand, the team didn't land in Vegas until Friday night. Then took a 180 mi. drive to Cedar City.

No way a program like ours has the budget to stay an extra 3 and half days on the road to get acclimated. This could be the lack of a strength and conditioning coach for much of the offseason rearing its ugly head. :|

That thought crossed my mind as well... RIP TB

I agree, but they at least should have flew in during the morning as much as possible and get there by noon. That way, they would have at least 24 hours to acclimate. But I agree, I think because of the loss of Coach Brooks and the strength program was disrupted a bit this summer, that might have been a reason.

Now that said, with playing this past Saturday there, going back to the altitude in Ogden, the guys have gotten a taste of what it was like. Hopefully it will give us good results this time.

I've been to Ogden and played on the Dee Events Center Court. The elevation DOES effect you, big time. Hopefully we can get to Ogden a little earlier than we got to Cedar City...

It was a typo. I meant 48hrs. Yeah, no ADs in the Cal State, or UC for that matter, system has the dough to arrive almost a week b/f the game to prepare.

FWIW SUU took FBS UNLV behind the woodshed and destroyed them 41-16. THis should make our embarrassing loss to them slightly less embarrassing.

Also FWIW, Hawaii lost to UNLV by 20, who in turn took "the farm extension" behind the woodshed and hung over half a hundred on them in a 56-14 rout.

Is strength of schedule given consideration in the factors of FCS post-season? If so, I think SUU's win over FBS Vegas just made Sac St schedule look better and tougher.

Great win for Southern Utah and the FCS teams last night at UNLV! I don't know if the score represents how good Southern Utah is or how badly UNLV played or a combination of both. UNLV dominated the stats out gaining SUU 402-256, looks like their downfall was losing 2 fumbles, 3 interceptions and 96 yards in penalties.
