Week 4: Griz @ Hornets

I said earlier that when our offense is clicking, we can score 30 on anyone. I sold us short. Should have said 40. Nice win. Another "first" out of the way.

The crowd was the largest I've been in for a non causeway game. The tailgating was the largest I've seen since I've gone to games at Hornet Stadium. The banners around the stadium and the ads made the event look better aesthetically than ever before. The half time band performance was the largest I've ever seen. So I was very impressed with what I saw. Made it even better that we won. Perhaps, some of those things helped propel the team to a win.

First of all, just got home from the game. To say that Im pumped up, impressed, relieved, exalted, well you get the picture. The offense went back to doing things they did last year and must have given up that stupid pistol (which clearly wasn't working). They just punched Montana in the mouth all night long. The blocked punt return for 6 clearly deflated Montana I believe. But you could feel it after that first drive. We had the rock for over 40 minutes tonight! Flat out domination.

For now Im home to watch the highlights and more reactions!
Go Hornets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SHA, I was sitting on the North side. I too agree that it looked like the Pistol got dumped and Fleming was back under center, and looked a lot better.

WeberWildcat, thanks it was a big win for this program, you are a class act. One of my customers is a big alum and supporter of Weber. Looks to me the tide in the Sky is shifting and would not be surprised to see MSU, Weber, and Sac at the top 3 in the conference.

For those at the game, did any else notice that Montana was in the game for Montana, playing in CA.

Did anyone else notice some of the recruits that were at the game-this will get some mileage in recruiting.

That attendance number was horse crap. Our side was 100% full and the UM side was about 1/2. Then there were people everywhere! The vendors ran out of food! I got the last 2x shirt commemorating the OSU game, only $18.

They had all the UFL porta potties in service which was great! The new signage and what looked like a bigger video board was awesome! They showed replays and had cool graphics with SAC logos. They also had new speakers.

Had some friends with us from UCLA and they were shell shocked at our facility, absolutely loved it!

Fucking wow. I caught the first half and had multiple folks keeping me posted via text messages. Pure domination. Pure fucking domination. The final was 42-28 but it wasn’t even THAT close. WOW. :coffee:

OK, now all the haters and doubters can line up and jump back on the bandwagon. We’ll allow it just this once. ;) :D

Anyone know anything on Hilliard? Hey looked hobbled jogging on the sidelines for the second half...

All I heard was that Hilliard sprained his ankle. He did come back in the game, so it doesn't appear to be a severe sprain.

I was optimistic as well. Frustrated just like everyone else, but I still predicted a win.

Hello Hornet swarm! I just got home a little while ago. One of the first things that I did was log on to hornetsports.com to check the score and was excited to see a W against Montana! Wish I could have watched the game, but today was my girlfriend's baby shower. Congratz hornets!!! Beat MSU!!!!

Congratulations to the Hornets. Wish I could have seen it. I was too busy getting my rear end handed to me by the Tokay Tigers Alumni. Lost 20-8, and the only thing I did was put an absolutely REQUIRED onside kick out of bounds. I'm glad the Hornets did better than me....

 Thank you Hornets. It's been a near perfect day. Weber wins, and UM and that D-Bag Bobby Hauck both lose. I will sleep well tonight.

Great game, atmosphere and crowd last night! We were so close to beating Montana the last two times we played them I am glad that we finally broke through that barrier. It's hard to be considered a creditable team in the BSC without having beaten the Griz. Proud of the efforts of the players and coaches to overcome the frustrations and disappointments of the past two weeks, put it all back together and win a major challenge! They really took it to Montana and kept the Griz on their heels throughout the game! By the end it looked like the big bad Griz and their fans had enough and just wanted to catch the first thing smoking out of town! The stadium looked good and the crowd of 12,700 (highest attendance in the BSC this week) was into it. Hopefully the newer fans enjoyed themselves and will return. We are right back in it to win the BSC and/or a playoff bid. No team is going to be able to come through the BSC this year without be bloodied up a little. Keep the faith, Go Hornets!

Attendance was listed at just under 13k, but I thought that was low. Seemed more like 15-16

Had to be at least 15k.

Could it be that there were some freebies handed out that ticket office officials had the integrity not to count? Or was it just a bad miscount?

Didn't get a chance to post anything yesterday, but I did watch the game via Big Sky TV. What an awesome win!! Admittedly, I was pretty soured by the past 2 weeks, but this win (0-16 all-time against UM at the start of the game) made it worthwhile. If someone would have told me our Hornets would be 2-2 after 4 games, but that the 2 wins would come against OSU and UM ... I would have taken it in a heartbeat.

I wish I could have seen Brandyn Reed's TD catch, though. The camera man was fooled by play action all day long and totally missed Reed's catch. I don't know what the deal is with the video coverage, but they are zoomed in too far and often don't know where the ball is. It's like watching a fan cam with an inexperienced camera man. That said, it's better than nothing.

I thought the Hornets o-line dominated the UM defensive line most of the day. And the d-line held it's own against that huge Grizzly o-line. What a fun game that was to watch.

BTW, Are we seeing an emerging player in DeAndre Carter? I know he didn't have huge numbers, but I thought he played well. I like seeing the freshman receiver stepping up a la Morris Norrise last season. Speaking of Norrise, I'm glad we've got that kid for another 2 seasons. Nice game yesterday.
