Week 5: Sac State vs Northern Colorado

Accept for the picked up fumble that broke the tie and the inability to score inside the 10 yard line on 4 plays to potentially tie the game up at the very end, the Hornets looked great in the 4th quarter. Cassel moved the team very quickly with purpose and poise. An entire game like the fourth quarter minus the turnover is hopefully coming for Sac State in a game soon. Play like that the whole game!! All four quarters. Start off strong, remain strong and finish strong.

The Hornets indeed showed that they have the ability not to give up and fight, even after two turnovers and a kickoff return all lead to 3 touchdowns for the other guys.

Yes, these types of ugly and somewhat unbelieveable scenarios seem to be more common for the Hornet football program then anyone would imagine So many gut wrenching defeats over the years in the face of what looks to be promising victories Look back no further than a week prior being up 20-7 against Eastern Washington at the half. Hornets looked great. Came out, kicked off, got a turnover to start the 3rd quarter...and then......

4 strong quarters Hornets!!

On to next week

Any true Hornet fan can see we are not even close to the worst team in the division...hell, Davis is REALLY playing badly. I merely responded to your negative, disloyal rant and your hollow threats to stop being a fan. As if your departure would make any difference at all. Talk about the epitome of narcissism.
I know you were waiting for people to beg you stay, so I thought I'd have some fun. You make this trolling deal so damn easy...you fall for it every time :kisswink:

Saturday's game was bizarre and disappointing. Aside from the freakish bounces of the ball the team looked like it was playing flat without much emotion or sense of urgency for most of the game. Maybe they were looking past the Bears or just karma for all those improbable wins the Hornets have pulled out over UNC over the years. It's always especially hard to lose the games that we clearly had the better team.

I was impressed with Cassel's first start. Looked like they kept the play selection pretty vanilla for him in the first half. In the second half he looked comfortable and moved the ball well. He made some good decisions, was accurate and has the strongest arm we have seen since MBT. We are lucky to have him and Kniffin to be only sophs. The td throw to McGill was a rocket, the defender had no chance to react.
McGill looks like another true freshman that could develop into a great player. I have never seen the Hornets have so many freshmen and sophomores on the field contributing.
Let's hope we can salvage the rest of the season, surprise a few teams and build momentum for next year.

Talent-wise we aren’t the worst team (as we saw Saturday night), but when the team isn’t disciplined enough to take advantage of that and is unable to beat teams we should then it makes no difference. IMO these types of losses are worse than just getting out played by a more talented team.

If you think the posts I make are about me then you got it twisted. I like throwing together the previews and recaps for a couple different reasons: 1) It’s fun to dig through box scores and check out other BSC games see how the Hornets stack up against upcoming opponents and then watch the game to see how it all plays out. It makes following the program more interesting, however the new online streaming platform is garbage and has made this virtually impossible now. 2) The point of my posts is to generate conversation about the program. It’s interesting to see other perspectives on how the team is doing and get input on things I and others may have missed during the game. Unfortunately this board only comes alive after catastrophic events like HC changes and losses to UNC.
