I no longer care about the score of games this year. I just wish someone would start an over/under on the number of stupid and unwarranted celebratory dances Osagie Odiase will do this game. I have the over/under at 6.5 given what I saw last week.

If the staff has any nads at all, the total should be ZERO...because Odiase has been suspended. But since we haven't heard anything about that yet...let's set the over-under at FIVE....

I'm a big fan of Odiase and you guys are slandering his name. The kid was never suspended and that personal foul was not for the celebration EVERYONE CALM DOWN HE IS A VETERAN AND UNDER CONTROL! The foul was on Robert Beale he threw the ball at a players face, watch it on bigskysports video on demand Beale picked the ball up and threw it. Odiase plays real football agressive and enthused and was NEVER suspended 7 was injured the reason 24 Payne has been playing, and actually doing a great job IMO. I have seen no dancing by #1 a lot of legal trash talking and 0 personal fouls!!!

Why/how can Safron have two delay penalties called on him during late game drives? That is a serious sin and can be a drive killer in tight games, he is a three year varsity QB and should know better.

I didn't see the game, so please take this with a grain of salt. But if this was at all similar to a trend I've seen in the last 30 years or so, this is a direct result of the OC taking control of in-game play-calling. That itself is a by-product of how complicated offenses have become. But the thing is this: there is so much pressure on the staff to produce wins that they do NOT feel like they can trust the quarterback to call his own plays. Yet they MUST trust the QB to call audibles at the line! I just don't get the illogic of it. You don't trust the guy to call the base play, but THEN you trust him to change it based on what the defense presents?!?

Here's the problem: as a result of this, often OCs get indecisive and take a while to decide what to do, thereby forcing the QB to wait for the play, resulting in either a delay of game or, worse, a rushed play that results in lost yardage or loses the ball. OR the HC freaks at the amount of time taken to send in a play and calls an inexcusable early time out to prevent the delay penalty.

It comes down to this: if the OC is taking FOREVER to send in the play, the QB has to have the balls to say, "Screw this! Here's the play...." That takes a proper installation of the offense and game management philosophy during Spring Ball and Fall Camp AND a trust that the QB will do it right most of the time. If you can't trust him to do that, you have NO business putting him in the game.

I'm old school, so you may (and probably do) disagree with me. That's healthy. Let's hear it....

Nice win for the Hornets. It just shows, though, how big last weeks loss really was. They should be 3-2 and 1-0 in league. That one game makes a big difference.

Moving on, DeAndre Carter has NINE touchdowns receptions during the past 3 weeks. Has that ever happened in the history of the program before? When is the last time a Hornets receiver had double digit TD's in a season, let alone nearly doing so in only 3 games?

Great effort and win last night by our Hornets. Yes we realize that last week's mistakes and loss hurt, give it a break, it's water under the bridge. The Hornets played a clean and disciplined game last night, my concern is all the injuries. As I thought the BSC does not have a dominate team this year, we need to take care of business every week, every game is winnable. Enjoy the day we are in first place!

Of course on a day when I have zero time to see any football the Hornets go on the road and finally take care of business against a bad team. Injuries are piling up so that is concerning, especially at RB. Graham entered the season nursing injuries and continually got beat up so far this season. I don't think anyone is surprised he will be missing some time. No way Carter should be used back there, clearly he is more dangerous running routes.

Aside from the 2 INTs the stats indicate that Safron had a good game. I didn't see any of this game but if his throwing was on target, this would be the 3rd straight week of solid play from him.

Defensively it looks like the Hornets did their job and kept an anemic WSU offense in check. 4 forced fumbles is a nice change as this defense has struggled to force turnovers so far this season. I am not sure why some folks are jumping on Odiase. As BG pointed out that penalty last week was on Beale tossing the ball at the SUU WR. Odiase is our best cover corner, sitting him for a little trash talk is just stupid talk.

It looks like the punting unit continued to shine and the FG unit is useless for any attempt longer than 20 yards (includes PATs). As bad as Aguilar has been, at least he can be counted on for PATs unlike Diniz Jr was so at least he won't bump Diniz Jr as the worst kicker in Hornet history.

Mediocre high schools have a better kicking game than Sac State... This is now 2 of the last three seasons that Sperbeck has failed to get a kicker? Disgusting
He did find one last season in Castanada...but he left or got kicked off the team. Aguilar came in as one of the top JC kickers and had an outstanding fall camp, unfortunately none of that has carried over into the season. :ohno:

And hats off to Sperbeck for accomplishing another "never done it" thing no other coach in Hornet history has done which is a win in Ogden. As much as we all want to see change, for the meanwhile he sure served up a tall glass of STFU to all of us haters. For his sake (and our sanity's sake) the Hornets need to can keep winning.

Yep, drank mine last night.

My thing with the kicking game is someone is shaking this kids confidence so he can't concentrate. The BSN camera showed his face every kick, and even with PAT's he looked shaken. After the first FG it looked better. I am wondering if he was working with another QB in both camps, and now has to get in sync with Vercher.

I watched the entire games on BSN. I saw a lot of cheap hits on our guys, that i think was somewhat of a payback for Agudes' decleater last year. Case in point, Graham had just run off the right side was was already laying on the ground when a D Lineman for WSU came running up jumped in air and landed on Graham ala WWF style. No penalty but Graham then was laying there clearly injured and ultimately got carted off.

After Saffron got a huge cut on his hand and was out for a few series he played with laser focus and frankly showed good accuracy, though still made a few bad decisions. MANY of the stupid penalties got eliminated. Anthony Payne has great speed and ran down a play from the opposite side of the field. All in all a very good effort in all 3 phases.

Has anyone else seen the Vercher family and friends trolling the team Facebook account, specifically Sperbeck and Safron? Lol, I'm not a Safron fan, but come on maaaaaaaan.

Not really. Weber St is abysmal. Someone had to win. Sperb just isn't consistent. If the hornets win the next six out of nine games, we will all STFU.

I thought I saw that, too. I think it was more on the school page vice the team page. Regardless, though, I think they got purged. I took the team page back to before the season started and the school page back through mid-Sep, and couldn't find them anywhere.

Classless, IMO. I suspect someone in authority has probably talked to Vercher about getting his fam to lay off the school/team FB pages. That sort of thing only undermines the squad, and we can't have that on top of everything else....

Very nice to get the curse of Ogden done with.
Weber States worse home loss in 9 years.
Hope the Hornets heal up well and get ready for Northern Colorado for homecoming. Do not think Sac has ever lost to NCU. Hope we have a large turn out for homecoming.

A good weekend for the Hornets and all the fall sports teams.

Go Hornets!!

Yes they are, and for once the Hornets didn’t play down to the opponents’ level and took care of business. Next week the Hornets face another horrible team (UNC) that should be a comfortable win, but for some reason has always been a tough game. One week at a time…
