Week 5: Sac State @ Weber State

Weber switched QB's, but the Hornets held; Weber's punter nearly missed the ball and the Hornets got the ball back on Weber's 15 AND Saffron immediately hit Carter again this time in the right side of the endzone for another TD.

Sac St pooched the kick-off and recovered on the 35 of Weber with about 10 seconds left in the half.

Odiase is playing and looks like he's doing his "talking" to their WR's too.

Mediocre high schools have a better kicking game than Sac State... This is now 2 of the last three seasons that Sperbeck has failed to get a kicker? Disgusting

Watching on big sky fb, Aguilar reminded me of Diniz jr, fear in his eyes, you can just tell something has gotten to him ithought we had 3 guys in camp?

Seems like Aguilar has a "mental block" when it comes to making FG's; most of his PAT's are high, straight and strong now. May need a sports psychologist?

Sac St receives the 2nd half kick. Graham out for the rest of the game with an ankle injury; Norrise taking Graham's spot in the kick/punt return game.

Hornets take the ball on the 25 and move right down the field, mostly through the air, and Saffron hits Broadnax for a pass and run for another TD. 21 to zip now! We looked great there after getting only 131 yards in the entire first half.

Wildcats finally on the board with a 42 yard FG - their PK's first attempt of the year. Weber got to the Hornet 25 all with running plays and tried a pass on 3rd down that failed. Sankey, DL #44, for the Hornets looks real good tonight.

Ugh

On 3rd and 4 for the Hornets on their 49, Saffron hit Carter on a slant from right to left for a 51 yard TD; Carter is fast; he outran their DB's. 28 to 3 now! We look like a "new" team from the last 4 minutes of the half through now! What happened?

Webb, our 2nd RB, got shaken up, so the Hornets going with an empty backfield at the end of the 3rd quarter. Moving the ball through the air again and lead at the end of three - 31 to 3 - on the Hornet 42.
Looks like the Hornets using a FB, Kellermann, for their 3rd RB.

Saffron threw his 2nd INT - Weber's ball.
Saffron's thrown for 255 yards, 20 for 25 and 4 TD's. Norrise has six catches. Weldon: 5 punts for 52 yard average. Play was stopped as Sankey is taken to the locker room.
Weber punts to Sac St. - Hornets ball on the 25.

The Hornets may have also lost OL Milanovic. We're taking some serious "hits" tonight.
Under 7 minutes to go; we need to get out of here without anymore injuries. Sac St moving it to mid-field tho. Kellerman, a FB, still in. Hornets punt; Weber's ball on their 16.

Hornets held. Vercher in at QB and Carter, WR, is now playing RB. He's good; he can play it. I guess he was a QB in high school. Got 9 yards on 3 runs, so have to punt. Weber's ball on their 20. Looks like we have a lot of "new" numbers in on "D". Good.
Hornets totally dominated just before the end of the first half to the end. Need to play this way vs Northern Colorado next Sat., for Homecoming. 31 to 3. About a minute to go. We held them on downs at our 41 and I'm - Over an Out.............

Good effort and win by the players and staff. I give them credit for a good effort versus a hostile homecoming crowd where they were previously ofer.

Seemed like ALOT of bad injuries tonight. Reason?
Cold, bad playing surface, opposition?

Graham and Sankey looked serious. Same with Milanovich. Safron even left part of the first QTR and came back with a glove on his hand. This is really the first time the team has played in cold, dry high altitude air. When you get hit it probably feels worse compared to the teams warmer Cali weather conditioning. Hopefully just minor stings and twists.

Why/how can Safron have two delay penalties called on him during late game drives? That is a serious sin and can be a drive killer in tight games, he is a three year varsity QB and should know better.

Last weekend's meltdown will haunt the team this year, otherwise they would be 3-2 and on track. Chance to even the record next week with homecoming. Very winnable and must winnable next week.
