Week 7 - SAC (3-3, 1-1 Big Sky) vs. UNC (3-3, 1-1 Big Sky)

SD: You botched the brisket? I've never seen botched brisket, but my preference is tri-tip. Why didn't you try that?

We had no business playing UNC that close. They should swap places with CO School of Mines....

Coach Marion is going through some growing pains, that’s for sure. Transitioning from a coordinator to the guy responsible for managing everything isn’t the easiest thing to do — especially at this level.

Not running the ball on that 3rd and 1 last night, along with the same decision at UNR on 2nd and 7 with 2:26 remaining and no timeouts for the opponent, were not decisions I expected from him — but until proven otherwise we should all expect him to learn and grow from the experiences.

It is his first time as a collegiate head coach after all.
That excuse was valid in week 2 at Reno. It doesn't fly 6 games in. Coach Marion just needs to stick with what is working, especially considering how badly Williams was struggling passing the ball. But the passing game needs to get to a point where it can at least keep defenses honest.

Oh boy… anyone in attendance know if this was during the game or after during the concert?

This is pretty mild stuff. Spend time on twitter and you will see stuff from just this weekend, like the Miami game. I don't endorse it, in fact hate it, but this kind of stuff has been around forever. Now, we have everyone with a camera and a universal platform to air it. Pros, college, and highschool, it happens.

If Bobby did call Dr. Woods a clown, I find it amusing he went there. He should have just ignored it and pretended he doesn't exist and is irrelevant to the game. I don't care for Woods' tactics, but it seems he did enough to needle the coach.

Whatever. As LoveSacState said, just win.

The larger the crowd, the greater need for security to squash things early. Large stadiums have holding cells for this exact reason.

Happens all the time at big schools, but not reported because people don't have a whole nervous breakdown over 5 people out of 20k crossing the line. Usually only hear about it if it was out of the norm.

Jamo freaking out on Twitter is kinda wild. Fearmongering.
We've got some solid ambassadors on Twitter so credit to those putting in the work, but the Jamo crashout is a poor look. From his posts I gather he is a younger fan/alum and is still in the mindset that being liked by others matters. At a certain point in life you understand that doing your thing and making sure you and yours are taken care of is all that matters and doing/saying things to appease others, especially those who have no inclination to support your cause or for your success, is a wasteful venture. He'll learn.

His emotional swings during a game are epic, at one point tweeting at Dr. Wood to bring Troy Taylor back. What he needs are a few more decades of being a die hard Hornet fan to even out his emotional stability. :sneaky:

This all stops if they beat Montana Friday night. They have to be ready to go. Also don't expect any help from the Big Sky Refs they will give Montana everything especially with the Program leaving the conference and what Dr Wood said.

Lets just hope Coach Marion gets it and has the guys prepared to play their best complimentary
(defense and offense on point) football game of the year at home on National Tv with a large crowd. That ends in a top 5 win. That is the best we can hope for.
No, it will never stop. It never stopped when we were running through the BSC for three straight years and it certainly won't stop now that we are going all in on a new stadium and FBS. The appeasement to those that aren't Sac State stakeholders is a pointless endeavor.

"There's no going back..."

Regarding the brawl. Yeah it's a bad look at possibly the worst time but it's not something uncommon to major athletic events. You get 20k people in one place hyped up on booze and emotions and there are bound to be some idiots making fools of themselves (I've been guilty of this). My biggest gripe is the length of time it took for security to get there, and/or why they weren't there in the first place. The food truck area has always been a place where large groups of folks congregate, no reason for a pair/squad of event security or campus police to not be there. Nonetheless, I fully expect this security lapse to be addressed this coming game and beyond.

Yes. Some others came in later to help clean some things up and push back.

That being said, Dr. Wood did his job of creating interest for the game. Getting viewers on a national stage is also important for our FBS push. He's doing the dirty work.

I don’t necessarily disagree. I was just trying to be nice — and remain positive.

One of my dislikes of offensive coordinators turned head coach who still want to be involved in calling plays is that their in-game situational awareness is often lacking due to the distraction. IMO there are a far greater number of coaches that aren’t good at multitasking than there are coaches that are adept at it.
