So Dave Lewis just Ngata is back from an Achilles injury just 4.5 months ago.

Wow, and he’s flying off the edge in obvious passing downs last two weeks. 👍

Well, at least his early season absence if finally explained. It’d sure be nice to get big production from him the rest of the season.

Pierre Williams hurt and it looks serious. Man…

I recorded the game on DVR and watched when I got home. I saw Pierre make a couple early catches, but somehow didn’t catch that he’d been hurt.

After reading your comment here I went back and reviewed. The injury occurred the very next play after Pierre’s 2nd reception early in Q2. It was on Marshel Martin’s big run after catch play down to the NAU 9 yard line.

Williams ran a deep out and lost his footing. Might have been an ankle, which I actually believe was aggravated when he was tackled the previous play.

Good news was he limped off the field under his own power. Hopefully it’s not serious.

What a game for Skattebo! Everything I saw while he was at Rio Linda HS was on display last night.

The kid runs with power, speed, and has tremendous vision. However the underrated skill I’ve always noticed about him is incredible balance. Which helps make him difficult to contain and tackle.

Hopefully Taylor continues to put his wide skill set to good use.

Dunniway continues to throw dimes and impress.

It's the day after...how's everyone feeling today?

Another great day to be a Hornet! I have a lot of confidence in this team and coaching staff! Even when we lose it's not due to lack of preparation, focus or effort. This team has a lot of young players that are already contributing, the future looks bright!

Love this team

They are so enjoyable to watch

Like how everyone is contributing

Bet the Sac State coaches are happy and enjoying this team

Keep it rolling Hornets!!

Stingers UP!!

44-0 Hornet win. Dominating performance on both sides of the ball. Defense shut down what was the 3rd best offense in the BSC coming into this game, and made it look easy. NAU only managed 226 yards of offense, and most of that came in garbage time. Hornet DL got pressure and kept Martinez out of rhythm, made some great open field tackles, got an INT and got stops when needed.

Offense kept rolling and put this game away in the 1st half and tallied 656 yards in the game. Dunniway (21/25, 328 yds, 2 TD, 1 INT) looked unstoppable through the air and Skattebo(om) (10 car, 117 yds, 1 TD) made his arrival known with a huge night. Martin (5 rec, 117 yds) had some big plays as well. The only knocks were the bad turnovers. A fumble out of the endzone by O’Hara on the opening drive and a bad pick by Dunniway in the redzone at the end of the 2nd quarter kept the Hornets from racking up half a hundred by halftime. A few Hornets got banged up (Williams and Fulcher), hopefully they’ll be ok.

Special teams had their issues. Kickoff coverage gave up some chunk yards but didn’t allow anything big. A couple of kickoffs out of bounds and a bad snap on a PAT stood out the most. Sentkowski banged home his lone FG attempt.

Agreed. Lots of underclassmen getting reps, that will pay dividends in the long run. Very fun team to watch.

I was curious why the sac state social media push with the gameday uniform preview showed green jerseys, then they actually wore all black. I like the black green and cold look, was just weird. I guess if we learned anything last week, planning in the AD could still be improved….

I watched on Channel 31 despite my reception issues. I was quite impressed with Cameron Skattebo. I would like to have seen the third quarterback earlier.

Defensively, I DO have a concern: depth. The starters were incredible, but the backups, not so much. While I must acknowledge that NAU likely still had their starters in at that point, our defensive backups pretty much let them go up the field at will until the starters went back in and shut them down once the ball got inside the 10. Yes, they needed the experience, but it's something to keep in mind if injuries come or senior starters graduate between seasons.

Overall, this was an unexpected outstanding performance, though. I, for one, have no idea how the NCAA playoff predictor is assuming that we'll win up to Causeway, and then they're absolutely certain that we'll lose Causeway, yet make it in as an 8-3 first-round road team at MSU. That doesn't make much sense to me. While game comparisons are quite limited, the fact that we've now beaten teams that have beaten Washington and Arizona, I have little doubt that we can beat a team that beat Tulsa....
