Week 8: #2 SAC vs. #7 Montana

Just wanted to say FUCK YOU for that cheap ass head hunting bullshit. He knew exactly what he was doing.

What a glowing example of the Montana educational system and sportsmanship!

Three consecutive losses to the Hornets after years of domination and Griz fan loses their collective minds ;)

The Griz didn't score that TD. The zebras did. They missed a CLEAR holding on that drive, and then followed that up with a bogus made-up PI. They're trying to hand this game to the Griz on a silver platter. SMH....

After all sorts of missed calls in Montana's favor, they're whining about that fourth down catch that was ruled in bounds....

Enjoy their whining and crying bois, all the calls they've gotten over the years, all the home cooking in close games....yeah, relish this one...enjoy it...hell of a way for this program to pull this one out of the jaws of defeat. This is what championship caliber programs are made of. Just amazing.

Up until the drive where the Hornets benefited from 2 pass interference penalties to then end up with a FG to close to 24-17 -- I was wondering if the officials were ever going to call a penalty on the Griz. Talk about one-sided officiating. Lots went uncalled on them.

As it turned out, the Hornets had 9 penalties to UM's 5. And most those weren't called on the Griz til they already forged a 24-14 lead.

They literally have no leg to stand on calling out the officiating. I'll gladly give them the Gipson catch in exchange for better officiating the first 3 quarters.

It sure wasn't pretty. The Hornets had to overcome their 1st deficit of the season, along with 4 turnovers and 9 penalties.

But it kinda shows how far this program has come. To play as poorly as the Hornets did for pretty much 3 quarters yet still find a way to win the game against an opponent the caliber of Montana is .... well, progress.

While the crowd of just under 16,000 wasn't to be confused with a major university football program, it sure was quite cool to see many of those students and fans storm the field in excitement after the win. Something we've never really seen before, and perhaps could be a sign of more to come?

Cameron Skattebo had the ESPN announcing crew -- which included Ohio State Nat'l Champion Dustin Fox -- excited by his physical style of play. It was a great stage to show off what could be built here.

Lastly, injuries are part of the game. I don't want to hear that excuse from whining UM fans. The Hornets have had many games affected by key injuries over the years, including the 2019 postseason against Austin Peay when Kevin Thomson, Pierre Williams and Elijah Dotson, among others, were all severely impacted by injury or out of that game.

Montana ran 95 plays, rushed for 200 yards and possessed the ball for 37 minutes, 50 seconds.
Sac State ran 71 plays and possessed the ball for 22:10, yet still rolled up 479 yards of total offense and notched 24 first downs.

Factor in 4 turnovers to none and 9 penalties to 5, and it's an amazing comeback win.

Imagine what the Hornets might have done to the Griz had they not fallen behind by double digits and could really commit to the run. And didn't have Jake Dunniway giving the ball away unnecessarily every other drive.

This is making the rounds on Twitter. Catch made while right foot on the ground in bounds. Refs got it right. Someone needs to send more shipments of copium to Missoula asap.

Wholeheartedly agree with everything you and SD say here, BHF.

The eGriz meltdown is even better than I ever thought it could be, goes across all platforms! Lol

Like every other team in this conference hasn’t suffered at the hands of UM bias, in literally EVERY sports, since forever! Lol

No kidding. Literally every facebook/twitter post/article on the game, regardless of source (Sac State centric or UM centric), has griztards bitching and moaning about the refs, the hit on Johnson, etc. It’s pretty entertaining and sad at the same time. There’s even a corporate account of some heating and air company bitching and moaning about the game across every platform...you can’t make this up. The worst of it is the nonsensical claims that the hit by Adeoye on Johnson was a hit job effort to get him knocked out of the game. Absolutely classless accusations. :ohno:

Final thoughts on the game then it’s on to Idaho:

Hats off to the Griz D. They really showed up and put the clamps on this prolific offense for most of the game. Dunniway (19/36, 284 yds, 2 TD, 3 INT) and the receivers looked off for most of the game, but a large part of that was the pressure and different looks the UM D was running. I thought the Hornets would be able to pick them apart in 8-15 yard chunks at a time, but for whatever reason Dunniway kept forcing it deep and it resulted in 2 bad picks and a handful of stalled drives. Hornets also had to keep the backs in on protection and couldn’t take advantage of Skat and Fulch in the open on swing passes. Again, credit to the aggressive Griz D on forcing the Hornets to make that adjustment. Credit to the resilience of Dunniway and this offence for sticking with it and getting points on this stingy Griz D.

On the running side, the Griz D took away all the lateral and pulling lineman plays and really limited the runs to straight up runs with Skattebo (13 car, 111 yds) and until later in the game, designed quarterback runs to O’Hara (13 car, 56 yds, 2 TD). Even when Skat broke a run, it was from bouncing it out to the edge and making things happen.

Defensively the Hornets just got wore down from the ground and pound attack of the Griz. What we saw last night was their forte’ of grinding yards and clock in 3 yards and a cloud of dust and Johnson was a bad matchup for this defense. However, the Hornet defense responded and rallied when needed, forced some field goals when handed a short field, and put the clamps on late in the game and in overtime. I’ve been on the secondary all season but they came through huge last night in the clutch. The coverage on that overtime possession was rock solid, any accusations on pass interference on any of those plays is mis founded.

Special teams was the spark and the difference that got us back in the game. Blocking a field goal at the end of the 1st half, making a field goal to cut it to one possession in the 4th quarter, recovering the squib kick off the fortuitous bounce off a UM player made this game winnable. All the air went out of UMs sails when the Hornets stole that possession, I think deep down they all knew what the end result was going to be once that play occurred because if you were in the stadium, you felt it.

Lastly, I’ll say that we win this game in regulation if the clock isn’t mismanaged on that last possession, but I think Taylor just wanted to win by at touchdown instead of a field goal so that we covered the spread. Also now we can say we never led a game in regulation but still won. :-P

Stingers Erect!

I've followed alot of sports in my many years, but I have never encountered a bunch of crying sore losing morons like the people at eJizz.

First, that the targeting was premeditated because their QB was so superior Taylor/Thompson had to resort to pre-planning to eliminate him from the game?

Second, multiple angle replays/photo's, refs, official evaluation by BSC booth officials and national TV missed the 4th down catch that was out of bounds. Surely, there is a conspiracy to inflict damage on the mighty Jizz nation?

Third, the supposed gangster PI against a Jizz WR tripping over his own feet in the endzone at OT? How could the refs miss that blatant call?

The eJizz poster who doxxed the refs by listing their names in a post. Seriously, that is mental level stuff.

I hope Weber wipes the floor with these unhinged cry babies.
Maybe it is time to move Sacbuzz to an independent platform and off of an eJizz related platform?

On to Idaho.

IDC even if it was the wrong call. It made up for what I saw as one-sided officiating the first half into the 3rd quarter. They weren’t calling the Griz as tightly to that point as they were the Hornets.

The tipping point for me was the PI call on Gavin Davis-Smith setting up the Montana TD to put them ahead 24-14. It looked like a solid play to me. Admittedly it’s a play that often goes either way, sometimes called and often not called. However the way the game had been officiated to that point, I felt it was a bad call.

Luckily the refs started calling some timely penalties on scUM afterward.

In the end the Griz fans are being disingenuous and hypocritical crying Argentina over losing a game in a manner in which their team has won many just like it over the decades. Forget them.

We’re 7-0 and now own a 3-game win streak over the lil teddy bears.

I'm waiting for egriz to start whining and sniveling over the "onside" kick.....They probably will start saying we "targeted" their ST and intentionally hit him in the head with the ball...OBVIOUS TARGETING....WE TRIED TO TAKE HIS HEAD OFF WITH THAT KICK....DIRTY FUCKING PLAY....SHOULD SUSPEND THE KICKER FOR A COUPLE SEASONS FOR THAT DIRTY SHIT....I suggest they start playing touch football up there in mizzu....

The only thing I've seen on the onside kick (and this is from guys who think the "targeting" was intentional and therefore "dirty") is that they're disgusted that Montana got caught with their pants down by an onside kick two weeks in a row. I don't think any of the one's I've seen are trying to morph the onside kick into that volleyball deal making the rounds this past weekend where a HS girl about got decapitated by a volleyball thrown by a transgender at c. 70 mph.

I’m pretty sure he wasn’t being literal, SH2.0. Just extending their argument to ridiculous proportions to demonstrate how far out in left field they are. In other words, reductio ad absurdum.

BINGO!!!! Before the game even started they were already speculating about Skattebo being called for targeting for lowering his head when running....I got another idea that may clear up another problem they seem to have with being in the BSC....they could start their own "Montana PowderPuff League for Pussy Cowboys"....think that might free them up some....
